You were not taught about the Indians being in WW1 and WW2 because they were under the British rule. Hence, Britain took credit of all the soldiers they sent out for war. Including many Caribbean countries (Jamaica and so on) and African countries which were under the British rule at the time, the people there had to fight on behalf of the Queen. So, all these Indians, Caribbean people and Africans were part of the British army.
My dear, this is who the English are. The Welsh , Irish, and Scottish have their own national anthems and they are as wonderful as this. Land of Hope and Glory also is the heart and soul of us Brits. Welsh Daffodil, Tudor Rose for England, Scottish Thistle for Scotland and the Shamrock for Northern Ireland.

we had a huge navy and we started the industrial revolution. After we defeated the combined fleets of France and Spain no one could touch us for over 100 years. Ours was a steam powered empire.
Great presentation. I'm a big fan of Jay Foreman, I love the lightning pace and clever wit. The differences with the suffix "cester" eg. Worcester (pron. "wooster") and Cirencester (pronounced as seen) remind me of Arkansas ("Arkansaw") vs Arkansas City where the Arkansas is pronounced as seen ...though the locals just call it "Ark City".
