She was in her grounds probably Scotland having a picnic when two American tourists came over and sat down with them, they asked the Queen if they had ever seen the Queen, the Queen said she hadn’t but he had ( her police bodyguard), he said I’ve met her a couple of times and she can be quite tricky. The American couple asked if they could all have a photo together for their holiday snaps. After they had gone the Queen said I wonder how long it will take for someone to say THAT IS THE QUEEN!

The 2012 clip was from the Olympic opening ceremony. Paddington was created by Michael Bond in a series of Children's books in the 1950s, and has been a staple of British childhood ever since (he starts out trying to help, but his well-meaning efforts generally lead to disaster, with hilarious results). In 2014, the first film was made - for the grandchildren of his original audience - and critics believed that the CGI Paddington was well worth the wait. His story is that he came from Darkest Peru, and appeared at Paddington Station with a label reading, "Please look after this bear," and was subsequently adopted by the Brown family. He was named after the station as his original name can only be pronounced in Bear. A poignant moment in the film is where he first meets Mr Gruber (a junk-shop owner, who is a fast friend in the books), and we get a hint of the reason why someone with an obviously German name is living quietly in the Portobello Road (London has ALWAYS been a place of safety for refugees). Oh, and welcome back.

My favourite story I remember of the queen is when she was visited by the King of Saudi Arabia. At the time it was illegal for women to drive in his country so she just happened to be in the mood to drive herself (she pretty much never drove) and his translator kept having to ask her to pay attention to the road as she was chatting away and driving about with him

@ElliottRodgers
@ElliottRodgers 10 месяцев назад
@pureholy is correct. The drive was apparently more like a rally race than anything else. Queen Eluzabeth II worked on ambulances in WWII and was a superb driver. One recurring quip was her asking drivers that if they wanted to sit in the back and wave she'd happily drive.

Former protection officer Richard Griffin shared a hilarious anecdote during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of when Her Majesty encountered two American tourists while walking in her Scottish estate - who failed to realise who she was. Speaking to Sky News, he said that she had been out for a stroll on the grounds of Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, dressed in a head scarf and tweeds. "There were two hikers coming towards us and the Queen would always stop and say hello. It was two Americans on a walking holiday and it was clear they hadn't recognised her, which was fine. "The American man asked her if she lived in the area to which she replied that she did indeed have a house nearby. "She said that she lived in London but had a house just over the hill, and he asked how often she had been coming up here. "She said she'd been coming up for more than 80 years and you could see the cogs were ticking. He said: 'Well if you've been coming up here for 80 years, you must have met the Queen?' "As quick as a flash, she said: 'Well I haven't but Dick here meets her regularly.' So the guy asked me what she was like. And because I was with her a long time, I could pull her leg, so I said she could be very cantankerous at times, but she's got a lovely sense of humour. "Anyway the next thing I knew, this guy comes round, puts his arm around my shoulder, and before I could see what is happening, he gives his camera to the Queen and asks her to take a photo of us. "Anyway, we swapped places, I took a photo of them with the Queen, we never let on and we waved goodbye. Then Her Majesty said to me that she'd love to be a fly on the wall when he shows these photos to his American friends and hopefully someone tells him who I am.

glad to see a video from your channel pop up, sorry you've had a rough few months but looking forward to new content. ive seen you mention Paddington bear a few times but no one ever really seems to provide the cultural significance of it or why its a such a big thing here. originally a series of children's books in 1958 Paddington became huge in the era of rebuilding post WW2 where the idea of a young character who travelled to an unfamiliar place and struggles to adapt to his new home captured a lot of peoples imaginations being directly inspired by the massive displacement of children during the war, from Jewish children escaping the Nazis to English children being evacuated to the countryside during the blitz. "In the first story, the middle-class Brown family found Paddington at Paddington railway station in London. Paddington was sitting on his suitcase with a note attached to his coat that read "Please look after this bear. Thank you." Bond has said that his memories of newsreels showing trainloads of child evacuees leaving London during World War II, with labels around their necks and their possessions in small suitcases, prompted him to do the same for Paddington."

She had no idea she would be Queen until she was about 12, when her Uncle rejected being the King. It must have been a huge strain on her. She has always taken her duties extremely seriously and put a lot of effort into the job. We British are a strange lot. I am on holiday on the Isle of Wight & Global warming has passed us by. It is quite cool & damp today. There is quite a lot going on in the Isle of Wight, which is a bit of a backwater. But it is the start of Cowes week, an important yachting event. Welcome back SoGal and good to see you back on here. The James Bond skit was for the 2012 London Olympics Opening Ceremony. Paddington Bear is from a set of stories by Michael Bond. There was an animated series back in the 1970's in Britain of Paddington and Hollywood made a life action film in 2012. Interesting fact is that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky voiced Paddington in the Ukrainian dubbing of the films Paddington (2014) and Paddington 2 (2017). Upon hearing of this, Hugh Bonneville tweeted "Thank you, President Zelensky" at the outbreak of the war in Ukraine in February 2022. A third film in the series, Paddington in Peru, began filming in July 2023.

There was a lot of pessimism in the UK befoee the Games such as our Olympics even attempting to be grander than the Beijing ceremony of 2008, but it took a different direction and filled a lot of great humour, I don't think comedy had really been an association of Olympic ceremonies much before, it was filled with British pop culture, comedy and music. Even the Olympic cauldron lighting is unique, an individual flame for every participating nation.

My GSD hid under our bed during them, bred by Surrey Police as a potential Police Dog, they sold him at 6 months old as not suitable for Police work. They carried out extensive vetting on my family and I before the sale.

DEFINITELY watch Paddington, it's truly wonderful ... and Paddington 2 is even better. Hugh Grant has the role of his life in it, for which he was BAFTA nominated.

The thing she did with Daniel Craig was for the 2012 Olympics opening ceremony. A little bit more on that. During the Olympics the BBC interviewed Princes William and Harry and the interviewer asked them a question about the Bond skit. I believe it was Prince William who replied that the Queen had told them that she was going to be the next Bond Girl. Another little example of the late Queen's sense of humour.

I really miss her! I was lucky enough to meet both the Queen and her husband Prince Philip when I was invited to one of her famous Summer Garden Parties at one of her royal residences. What an amazing day, she truly was a lovely woman. She was really funny, and quick with it too!

Paddington bear 🐻 was really good for teaching children about moderating their respective unruly behaviour like snatching or taking things like food from the table without asking. Paddington always made mess with his marmalade sandwiches he loves so much he often has some in his trusty case. My Paddington bear books were some of the very first words I learnt to read & the illustrations have stayed with my memory like it was yesterday I was eating my marmalade sandwiches and reading Paddington bear books to.

Great to see you again, SoGal! I've not had quite the same trauma as you, but have been moving house (to a village that has no guide book, sadly, but it does have a postbox dating back to the reign of King Edward VII, the late Queen's great-grandfather) so I can empathise with the problematic and worrying nature of events. The Queen had a great sense of humour and, because of her role in public life, a natural presence that saw her perfectly fitted to 'stage' work, as in the two clips that started and ended this. The Paddington sketch was done for the Platinum Jubilee in 2022 and tied into the live concert outside the Palace; the James Bond sketch was part of the opening ceremony for the London Olympics in 2012, also the year of her Diamond Jubilee. There was a documentary about the Queen in the early 1990s - "Elizabeth R" - which has recently resurfaced on RU-vid, so if you want more of a glimpse into the world, life and character of Her late Majesty, that would be a good one to watch.

Hey, great to see you back 😀 ... The Queen had a wicked sense of humour ... You must watch the Paddington movies, they're great ... The helicopter clip was the opening of the 2012 Olympics in London, would be a great reaction for you to do (in sections !) ... Scarlett seems to have "slimmed" down a little, she looks great, worried but great ! ... Knew you'd get the job ☺ well done and you've got Scarlett's portrait on your desk 😊... you look great as well Sarah 😊 ... Your street seems to have been in the wars, that's God saying "don't abandon your disciples Sarah" ! 😉☺ ... Glad you're all safe, it's tough on your neighbours hope they insured

I know I'm a bit late to the party, but still, it's great to see you back on RU-vid! 🥳🎉 I remember the press reporting her quip to Justin Trudeau in 2015 as a bit of "royal cheek", or words to that effect. I think at one point, she also made a joke about something he did as a child when she visited Canada to sign the new constitution in 1982, when his father was Prime Minister.

Paddington Bear (as seen in that sketch) is from two movies, which you MUST see! 'Paddington' was the first, in 2014 - then followed up with 'Paddington 2' in 2017. They're both great films - charming and very funny!

So nice to see you back, I'm sorry you've had such an eventful time. Queen Elizabeth was renowned for her sense of humour and it's widely reported that she was a great impersonator and great fun. I think she became like all people who reach a great age and they lose their filter. They just say exactly what they're thinking. I've watched alot of funny clips but can't think where to find them 😊

"Thank you, for everything": The Queen was, in some very deep and inexplicable way 'everything'. Obviously, we're getting on with everything without her, but life is just a little bit lacking that sense of complete stability Her Majesty gave us. The Queen would say "Oh come, where's your pluck: life is a series of meetings and leavings. And we will".
