All NHL lime is terrible for restoration of old buildings or for brickwork, mortar, plaster, render. It is best to use lime putty made from quicklime. All the misinformation about NHL put on the internet by those invested in NHL. ONLY new buildings that will ONLY have lime or hard stone should use NHL.
Not how you apply it at all, do figure 8 brush patterns or Xs. Never brush in straight lines with limewash. Also should only take 3 coats, not sure what he is doing. Also, if using a pigment make sure its designed to be used with lime as not all are by any means.

Who taught this man not to wet the board and to have his handboard and trowel standing like it is? Why does he play with the material on his handboard (hawk)? Different to how I was taught.
Don't sweat looking for hazel...willow works as well. There's multiple ways of locking the tails of the weavers in. Loads of ways of making limewash too.
If you laminate continuous fiber hemp wool around the wall the shell could become the structure replacing the 2x4 inside the wall. The scientific name of the shopped fiber thickening effect is called a thixotropic agent.
