After decades of full time professional music business experience - it's time to chill, do ambient improvised sessions, and play with some new gear....just for fun......
How do you see the virus C in terms of trance music production...? Can one fancy it over the ti and TI2...? I am looking forward to get 2 hardware synths I have decided to get a Yamaha an1x on the cheaper side and nord lead a1 on the high end side.... I am caught up in a little confusion... Between these Yamaha An1x, nord lead 2x,jp 8000, and virus C which is better for trance in you opinion? Now moving onto the expensive ones.. NORD lead 4,NORD LEAD A1, ROLAND SYSTEM 8 THESE ARE MY ALTERNATIVES AS VIRUS HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED AND PRICED THRICE IT'S ACTUAL PRICE... ?
Hi!🎉🎉🎉 After I did read your bio and then watched this lovely video,I said......I got to subscribe to these nice and lucky people!!! I'm exactly (with my wife of course) in the same situation (but no bus, normal countryhouse) ex pro musician, berlinschool lover and composer, for me and my friends all over the world!! Now I am going to check out your channel,my friend. Happy to find you😅 LABIS music
Watched many of your videos, still the best info on Access, I dont own any virus, but if i had one pick one hardware synth this would be it, , if its software it has to be Omnishpere , if i had both i would be a happy man.
thanks v much....very kind comment........yeah, Omnisphere is still blowing my mind, after more than 10 years.....and frankly, with so many amazing soft synths (including Virus emulations), you could do tones of work without every buying hardware synths...............
Check out the free dsp56300 emulator. It runs on Windows, MacOS and Linux and will run the Virus A, B, C and TI firmware. The latest $139 NUC mini PCs with an onboard Intel N100 has enough compute power to easily run 4 Virus TIs in parallel. A lot more if they are Virus Cs, Bs or As.
Hey, Will. I'm still not caught up on all of your YT contributions, & I skipped ahead to this one, but I enjoy them all... However, it's been a month of silence from you. Hope all is well with you & yours. Cheers.
thanks for noticing.....I had to send my Deluge off for repair (twice), and then had my main computer used for editing die, so I guess I've been on a type of sabbatical......Honestly, I think you're the only one that even noticed............I'll probably get back to it before too long....very busy right now with a thousand other things......thanks for listening........hope all's well at your end.
Good grief, you're the Master Recycler Will. An absolute mind blowing conversion. The 2nd astounding bus I've seen of yours. I did count on it having 1 stained glass window. LOL I grew up in a motel business family. Guard yourself against friends and relatives. It's perfect!
Hi Will.. This reminds me of the records by Holger Sukai if I remember his name correct. 30/40 years ago he was in radiowave surfing and your vid sounds like it. You are a true synth head Will..and a love you for it. Take care..and greetings from Holland.
Holder Czukay....wow....haven't heard his name for ages. I wasn't familiar with very much of his work, but I played an album he did with David Sylvian to death..............thanks so much for your awesome comment, and taking the time to listen. Greetings from the Canadian Wilderness!
wow Will... you've done an amazing restoration.... Congratulations. There are many hours of work there! P.S.: I'm trying to get back in touch with social networks again.
thanks v much.......................It's not about the talent (I'm just as old as dirt, so I've got more experience).............it's about being inspired, and finding some gear that keeps that alive.......
thanks (I'm guessing that you saw your credit......not like it's very similar to what you do, but you were certainly the inspiration...................
Yours were among the videos that helped push me into taking the plunge for a Virus TI2 a couple weeks ago. Absolutely thrilled with it so far. It has so much character that's lacking in many modern digital synths. The effects are also in a league above most of the other HW in my collection (Deluge/Hydrasynth's FX sound a bit sterile in comparison - though they make up for it in other ways)
So glad to hear that you're excited by your new tool..................BTW - if you're not up to date with the Deluge Community Software, the effects are finally getting better on that box, not like the Virus, but there are real improvements......
Ive had my Deluge since 2019, and it just keeps growing in capability. I love multisample instruments on it, as well as sound design and sequencing. It still feels like i barely use anywhere near its full potential
Thanks for the comment. I totally agree....I know I'm just scratching the surface, especially when it comes to the new Community Firmware. So many great improvements, and loads of interesting features that I'm not fully up to speed with yet.
Virus synths have a distinctive sound but the polyphony can't be a selling point. 90 voices is not much these days. My Montage has 128 voices for it's fantastic fm synth and 128 more for the sample sounds.
Agreed, but my point about the voices, was more the fact that they can be used to play 16 different parts at once. I know there are still other 'workstations' out there, but most of them are very limited as synthesizers, for programming with 'Knob pre function' panels, etc. thanks for weighing in..............
Will, perhaps you can help me out here please.... Access Virus C, Single sound, transmitting PC's to the Virus either from MC-707 or Ableton/MOTU result in missed notes at start of 16 step sequence. It's almost as if the note starts on step one for a few milliseconds, cuts off then plays again. Short bass notes will miss 2 steps on average 1st time round and pads consistently miss 16 steps initially. Disabling / removing PC from Ableton / 707 and the Virus is rock solid. No problems at all with any patches Known issue Will or not? I'm tearing my hair out here and I haven't got much to start with! Have filtered out all non essential MIDI information from the data stream but no joy.
No idea....my suggestion would be to post your problem on the Access Virus Users Forum. There seems to be lots of people there to share knowledge and assist................best of luck
awesome "spot". i doubt you can get a quiet area in my country, its only 73 miles from east to west in some places... probably why the romans chose to build a wall there... but we like to tell the Scots its to keep them out lol
Hey, I'm part scots!........no offence...........love the UK (never been to Scotland but I've always enjoyed my time in the UK)...........thanks for the comment.
yeah, usually I'd have added some sound design, but that laptop (with video editing, etc.) died recently and is awaiting repair (I've been uploading older music sessions over the past couple of weeks)
Hello! Thank you for this amazing presentation 👏. Very well done 👏! This looks so awesome. I hope everything is going well in Your world 🌎. Mark Bensette Aux Bois 🇨🇦.
