His extensive career spans numerous national tours, regional productions, and television appearances. Blanchard's versatility and dedication to his craft have earned him acclaim and a lasting impact on the American theater scene.
Thank you so much for posting this and giving such an amazing performance, mister Blanchard! I’m a long time fan of Ken Hill’s Phantom and now actually hearing what the North American tour sounded like is quite surreal for me after years of just seeing silent photos (the TV spot is too short to have proper understanding of the sound aspect). Obviously, here you will only post songs of your performances but is it possible to get the full audio of the show somehow? I understand that the comments section might be not the greatest place for such questions but the only other way to reach you is direct messages in Facebook which I’m hesitant to do just to avoid possibility of intervention into your personal space
Thank you @vampireintheopera8931, appreciate your kind words. Unfortunately, I don't have the full show. It was a long time ago! I'll dig deeper and see what I've got. Cheers!
These lyrics are different. I guess they changed them for the American productions, in contrast from the British production. Quite interesting… I like these lyrics as well! Thank you so much for sharing this ultra rare recording. You definitely rocked the role. What was it like for you in that production? Did you enjoy the show and role? And what was the makeup like for the production? What was your favorite number?
Thanks Emily! It was a lot of fun being spooky every nite. All the "monsters" I've played share the same quality. That of a beautiful soul hiding under a horrible visage. I enjoyed the experience and the people were fun. We also toured during the height of "Phantom" mania, so 'twas a trip.
Do you have any recordings of you singing any of the arias/songs in Ken Hills’s The Phantom of the Opera, such as “While Floating High Above” (aka Je crois entendre encore) or “Ne’er Forsake Me Here Remain” (aka Avant des quitter ces lieux), etc?
@@SteveBlanchardStuffWell, I am a musical theatre, Phan, and opera nerd - so guess it comes with the study. Thank you, sir. I look forward to hearing it. BTW, that Triton costume - was that uncomfortable to wear?
Hi Steve - I'm reading Dean Butler new autobiography and he writes about you - he writes that you were his understudy in West Side Story and he didn't dare miss a performance - as you were 10 times better than he was! Writing your voice is "beautiful" and you were always upbeat & positive 100% of the time.
Hi Steve. Just discovered you as I was prepping for my Newsies audition. I’ve watched most of your videos by now, and am a huge fan! Thanks for this amazing insight and advice! I hope you do more of these videos! Congrats on an amazing career. Your words remind me of my favorite idiom: “Talent is often perseverance, misinterpreted.” Thank you maestro.
@@SteveBlanchardStuff Hi Steve… I wanted to follow up… I was just awarded the part of Joseph Pulitzer in Newsies. I admit, your example was a guiding light for my interpretation. I can’t wait to dive into the part and make it my own, but I was so grateful to have such a dynamic example available in your performance videos when doing my research. Thanks again Steve!
Congrats Gulliver! Thank you. Remember to be the nastiest S.O.B. so that the hero(s) can conquer. J. Pulizer really wasn't, but you have to be in this piece. In the end, he sees himself in Jack. A kid with nothing and trying to make something for himself. J.P. came to this country with not a penny, slept on park benches in NYC, didn't speak the language and became who he became. Kick ass!
I've been looking for this song for a long time! I'm so glad you posted it so everyone can hear this wonderful music! I really respect your art! -From Hungary
Glad you were with Meredith Inglesby (Babette in one of the Broadway productions in BATB). Although you were great as Pulitzer, You were a great Beast (rather than a Gaston)
Three days ago I was looking here on youtube for some songs from Frankenstein because a couple years ago there was a production in austria. And than I found the songs of frankenstein a new musical and i was directly in love with the music 🤩 Many greetings from germany 🙂
This was so cool to watch hearing like his normal speaking voice. Steve's singing voice is so emotional and I get chills nearly every time I listen to the Frankenstein soundtrack
