EVERYONE LISTENING TO THIS AND WONDERING WHAT HAPPENED TO 'REAL MUSIC' I WANT TO OFFER YOU A TREAT. There is a young lady amongst us who has been described as an 'old soul' and has been singing songs from the past since she was 1 and 1/2 years old. "What", you say, "Impossible!" No, it's all on you tube. Her name is Angelina Jordan and she is now 18. She is Norwegian and her family moved to California before the pandemic. She finished schooling in California and now is about to take the world by storm. Millions of people know of her all over the world but sooner rather than later, EVERYONE in the world will know who Angelina Jordan is. There are hundreds of songs on you tube for you to enjoy which includes covers of all the classics and some originals from her. To start you off listen to her sing George Gershwin's 'Summertime' at 8 years old on Norway's Got Talent. (She won the Show.) Then, remaining at 8 years old, watch her perform at an outdoor gathering in front of thousands of people singing 'What A Difference A Day Makes' (and tell me you don't think you're listening to Dinah Washington)! Vocally and artistically she is a prodigy beyond your wildest imagination and her favorite artist is Billie Holiday. But, there is something else going on when you watch her sing 'for you' and listen to her sing 'for you' and you will find it hard to describe exactly what is going on but she will touch your heart with her love. Intrigued? I have been 'around the block' a few times if you know what I mean and when I discovered her years ago she changed my life. I am kinder, more caring and loving than ever before in my life and you will understand when you get to that point. You may ask, "How long when she sings 'for me' will it take her to touch my heart?" Well, it varies, but I would guess between 5 and 10 notes. WHAT!?!?!?!?!? She is very soulful and a wonderful human being and all of that comes through when you listen to her sing. Jo Stafford singing 'You Belong To Me'? One of the great classics of all time. It brings back a lot of memories. And when you listen to Angelina singing some of the songs from the past, well, wait and see. She actually sings 'Cheek To Cheek' and one of her favorites is 'Fly Me To The Moon' (which she has sung at almost every age). She sang it at Quincy Jones' 85th Birthday Party at the 02 Arena in London and he wanted her to open his Show with her performance. Oh, she was 12 years old. My dad use to sing, I'd like to get you on a slow boat to china , ever since I can remember. Me and my siblings would just laugh and mom would blush . I can't remember the mans name that sang it , but I can see his face. Love the older songs .

I'm 81. I decided to play this song, seeing today was the anniversary of Stafford's demise. The song took me back, immediately, to that period when such ballads were the common fare on the radio. I cannot, for the life of me, understand how 2024 music is so devoid of melody, rhythm, and lyrics...just nothing to cling to. Stafford was a giant in the music world, deservedly.
Agreed 100%. I would struggle to name one of today's 'stars' who can truly sing ... it's nothing but tuneless droning or relentless pounding. Very sad.
