Great story bro. I was pretty thin as a kid, but between 4th and 5th grade I chubbed up for some reason. Luckily I hit a growth spurt in 6th grade, so my weight balanced out and l thought l was safe. I...was not lol I was always pretty active playing basketball before school at the park, during gym/recess/ and then after school, but all that changed in high school. For 1 thing my high school was pretty far away from my home, so there was no way l was getting there early enough to ball before school, so that was out. They didnt let us go outside for recess, so that was out too. Gym? Forget about it. At the time we would either have gym, music, or art class on our schedule, so l didnt see the inside of a gym my ENTIRE 9th grade. And to make matters worse my closest friend who l would ball with after school and on weekends moved away, so l didnt even get weekend exercise in as much. By the time 10th grade rolled around and l finally got gym class on my schedule, it was too late. I had gained 30 pounds and felt like a complete loser. I would gain more and more weight over the years till l hit my high of 225. Last year l was 212 tho, and then my mom got gravely ill. She needed 24/7 care and didnt want to enter hospice, so it was up to me and my sister. But l knew l couldnt take care of her if l didnt take care of myself first. I began eating right and working out daily. Now im down to 165 and l look the best I've looked in years. I just wish my mom was still here to see it...
@@scottvasnik Everyone who can work out in the heat has my respect. I'm a "heat pussy". Good thing I live in Minnesota, and good thing my gym is in the basement, rather than the garage.
Taking everything out for upgrades and cleaning is always such a chore. Great idea on how to keep the mats together. Glad to hear you are enjoying the new cable machine! Small home gyms are always a challenge to get all the equipment you want in - mine started in a tiny bedroom and we had to deadlift and log press in the kitchen.
I wouldn’t call it easy but is certainly easiER. My strategy is being consistent. I know how I have to eat and move to maintain, if I start slacking it’s noticeable.
Started 28 June 2024 40 inch waist Omad + 300-500 caloric deficit I have cheat meals often too keep metabolism up Workout 5 days a week Today 24th July 2024 36.85 inches Have gotten stronger in weight training
Your chocolate brownie protein ice cream video is what brought me to your channel. I'm adding all of your recipes to my list to try. This one is #1 on the list.
I think all of the Anabars are peanut butter based except for the S'mores one. I've enjoyed all of the Anabars I've tried and definitely want to try that one out after this video.
Great recipe. Thanks Scott! Ingredients below. ROOT BEER ICE CREAM RECIPE 11 oz pro protein shake 5 oz sugar free a&w root beer 15 ml creamer 8 grams monk fruit sweetener Zero calorie root beer packet 2 grams table salt 2 grams vanilla extract Blend well. Freeze 24 hours. Lite ice cream to finalize.
I tried the PB one and threw it out after one bowl because it tasted like cardboard to me. I'd like to try the marshmellow one but I'm hesitant after that. If Magic Spoon could just solve the grainy texture sticking to your teeth thing it would be the best.
@@jamescox2634 aw man, you could have sent it to me! Haha I guess we’re in complete disagreement because I think magic spoon is very bland. To each their own though. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for your honesty and upbeat take on a journey that some many struggle to achieve. Stay healthy, keep the weight off, and train for the rest of your life. I am on a similar journey from 300 to under 200, and your story was very motivating to me. Wishing you much good health and success in life. Cheers.
Love your story. It’s a journey isn’t it. My whole life I tried every crazy diet. Did tons of insanity. Was a beachbody coach. Worked out too much at time. Got injuries. Did fasting. Keto. Paleo. Lost and regained the same 20 pounds many times. Feb I found perimenopause weight. Started eating high protein (goal weight in grams) walking 10,000+ steps. Drinking a gallon of water. Finished 75 hard. Continuing a lot of the program as it’s easy to eat the high protein. I’ve dropped 22 pounds since March 1. Still gave 20 pounds to go. Starting to lift weight now in addition to the steps.
I started in January at 287 lbs. This morning I'm at 205 lbs. Wife and I make smoothies every morning. I walk 7 miles everyday after work and lift weights 3 times a week. I Don't count my calories. We eat alot of grilled chicken and rice and vegetables and salads. We usually go out for burgers every Friday night.
Dude this ghost cereal is the shit. I have tried the pb stuff, i mix it into my ninja creami deluxe 24 oz containers. I have a box of the marshmallow stuff but i haven’t tried it yet.
Thanks, I've been struggling to get 200 grams of protein per day, I'm just gonna get tons of this cereal and eat it all day. (trolling) but I might get some to try fr, thanks man 😂
I started my journey in february 2024 at 416 pounds and now june 24th 2024 im down im down to 315. Ive stuck to 1200 calories a day and lifting weights every other day recently started walking 3-6 miles a day. I want to get to 200-225 and ill be where i feel is best for me at 6'4
Woah, that is some fast weight loss! It will probably slow down the closer you get to your goal. I would recommend not taking your calories too low. Just my experience but when I do that I alway yo-yo. Best of luck with your journey!
@scottvasnik yeah I've always had some issue come up when I start losing weight. Last time I went to a weight loss clinic and they gave me phentermine and I lost like 80 pounds in 2-3 months and then I ended up woth gallstones and had to have my gallbladder removed. So I went back up again. It's been years since then and as soon as I saw 400 on the scale I knew I had to make a change. I hate being fat I always feel disgusting so I'm doing all i can now to get it off and keep it off
Great job! That’s awesome progress!Funny story about tuna. When I was more of a noob I used to add those tuna packets to my eggs for extra protein. Don’t know if I can ever eat tuna again. 🤢
Great job, I too have been cutting weight since February 1st, 2024. Keeping my calories at 2000 and increasing my running to every other day. Started at 202 lbs and have lost 25 lbs over these 20 weeks. Took a week off in April and last week in June for vacation. Definitely saw weight gain during vacation but that did not bother me. Please keep up these videos, I find you videos useful. Thank you
That’s awesome, great job! And good on you for enjoying your vacation without letting the little weight gain get you down. I’m glad you like the videos and appreciate the support!
Hey Scott. Great tips for my fitness pal app......I have been on a weight loss journey too.....similar too, but I was at a max weight around 235lbs June 2023....now down to 193lbs. I only discovered your channel today (and subscribed), but by coincidence, I have been following the same philosophy....slow weight loss and follow macros/more cardio/track food on MFP app. I have not started a weight training program yet, as I had to choose my battles time wise....cardio and nutrition tracking was where I started. I am very inspired by your results and hope to continue my fitness health journey to my goal of weight/body fat/fitness. Fellow Oregonian here.
Hey Oregon buddy! Thanks for the support! Sounds like you’ve made some great progress! I totally know what you mean about picking your battles time wise. If you do start lifting I’d love to hear how it’s going!
nah. not sure where we 'find' all these stories of "brave" people who lost 100+ lbs (or 200). And then apparently think people should congratulate or even pay them for finally doing what they should have done all along. It's weird. Wanna see me 'subscribe'? Tell me about the guy who is fit in his 50's or 60's (Or more) who ALWAYS HAS been fit. Never gained all that weight to begin with. THat I would maybe watch. ( only found this one because this guy somehow got in a feed with some real info. HA - "got in a feed"...
The weight loss is Mexico is due to your hard work and the food not having all the additives and hormones we have here in the US. Every time I go to Mexico I never watch what I eat and come back 5-10 pounds lighter.
That could have been a factory but I was mostly eating and working with volunteer groups from the US that brought all their food with them from across the border. Not denying that the states have some sub par food options though.
It’s got decent macros but in my personal opinion, as a person who suffers with eating disorders (mostly binge eating), cereal just really shouldn’t be in my house. Even if it is “healthy”. Now that I’m using a Ninja Creami Deluxe, I *do* want some mix-in options for when I have the calorie allowance for some more “fun” in my “protein ice cream”. I can’t remember the macros off the top of my head for Magic Spoon, but I think it’s better than the stuff from Catalina Crunch (that stuff is like 110 calories for 36 grams. High protein but… so many calories, like 2,500ish in one container)
I know what you mean. I have to be careful keeping my favorite snacks in the house too. Ninja Creami ice is my go to high protein dessert! Love those! I appreciate your comment!
I’m torn between getting the rep fitness titan dual stack cable machine for $2700, plus a premium bench for idk another $400, and basically dropping $4k+ on a home gym…. Versus getting something minimal like an adjustable dumbbell set ($500-$700) plus a bench, totaling somewhere around $1100 maybe. Or even cheaper - making homemade sandbags and getting some “resistance training” “equipment” for <$100. You’re certainly getting a lot out of your equipment. I like working out at my local commercial gym but the extra time lost from traveling and preparing my gym duffel bag is really adding up…
Sounds like some good options! Yeah, unfortunately home gym equipment is not cheap, especially lately but I’ve really enjoyed slowly building mine over time. I actually really like working out in commercial gyms, but all the ones close enough to me are overpriced. Best of luck in your gym journey!
Sup dude! Really cool video. I thought a lot about this before my weeklong Hawaii vacation last month. I actually purchased a vacuum sealer so that I could take my homemade jerky with me to Hawaii. I was able to eat them every morning so that I knew I was getting my protein goals for the day. Heck, I even ate them at the airport. Everyone was sleeping in so I went to the gym in the morning and got my resistance training and was even able to run 3 miles most days in the morning as well. I also went for evening walks. For the weeklong vacation in Hawaii, I only gained maybe two pounds. During my week-long vacation in Hawaii, I made a concerted effort to maintain my fitness and dietary goals despite the relaxed vacation setting. I managed to indulge moderately while still sticking closely to my carnivore diet. Here's how I approached it: 1. **Alcohol and Treats**: I limited myself to fewer than five drinks for the entire trip, significantly less than others who were having drinks at every meal. This helped me control my calorie intake. I also allowed myself a few treats like pastries and sweets, and I tried other people's non-meat dishes occasionally. It was a vacation, after all, so a little deviation was part of the experience. 2. **Physical Activity**: I chose to walk as much as possible, often opting to reach destinations on foot rather than driving, which added extra steps and kept me active. Every evening, I made it a point to go for a walk. I also pushed for more hikes and managed to fit in resistance training and treadmill runs every morning by waking up early to use the hotel gym while others were still sleeping. 3. **Diet Management**: To ensure I met my protein goals daily, I brought along vacuum-sealed homemade jerkies, including liver jerky and tilapia fillets. This not only helped me stick to my diet but also avoided the need to buy overpriced food at the airport. Despite these efforts, I gained a couple of pounds, which I expected given the context of a family vacation with more sedentary companions. However, within a few weeks of returning, I shed those pounds and even dipped below my pre-vacation weight. Considering everything, gaining only one or two pounds during a leisurely vacation in Hawaii feels like a success, especially when balanced against the enjoyment of the trip and maintaining most of my health routines. Anyways, I looked at the videos in your channel. It’s a cool theme! More or less what I’m going for. I found you from looking up the ninja creami. I’m also making lots of protein ice cream. I’m about to make a batch of “gelato”. But it’s gonna be a total total bastardization… I just received some Cinnabon protein powder, some cinnamon roll protein shakes, and even some “flavor oil” which is supposed to be four times stronger than extracts. I’m about to mix all of that with like six eggs into my 24 ounce container for my deluxe creami. Will it taste good? I have no idea. But it’s food, just in “treat“ form. I’ve already made three batches of gelato and I was pleased with the results. My dad said it was edible. lol…. For the previous three batches, I separated the egg whites from the egg yolks. But that’s extra work! I’m gonna see how it turns out with six eggs per 24 ounce container. I’m doing three containers so that’s 18 eggs. That’s a lot of eggs! Considering I would like to eat those three containers in about two days. That’s like 36 ounces of “ice cream” in one day. Well, gelato. Oh, I forgot to say - for that creamy video you made - I really liked the camera gag you did at the start. The whole snap and the back time travel thing. Nice video editing.
Just got urself a sub dude!! Just started gyming a month and a half ago cuz i was sick of being 125lb as a 5’8 25 yr old (i have a trainer and a program, going for size and strength obvi) so very attracted to ur channel and the “good healthy snack” reviews as well as the high protein alternatives. (Ps im up to 140 currently:)
I also want to lose weight but I'm really lost on what to do. Like what to eat, how much to eat, does fasting help, or will i become weak for eating less??? Tried searching in the internet but everything is about money, everyone is selling plans... Really lost
It can be really overwhelming. I definitely know the feeling. If you want to message me on instagram I would be happy to answer your questions as best as I can. I have nothing to sell you.
