Was 16 then. Big Dolphins fan from Miami. Top memorable Fins regular season loss all time. The 2000 MNF loss to the Jets is the other. Incredible game and called by the best MNF crew ever. Was also the night the Houston stole the Miami Dolphin's victory song. Campbell was a beast.
Shula had the players mostly , when he got there , just like Lombardi did . Personally wish George Wilson had been given more time .But ,anyway saw this game on TV and helluva game .When Jan came out to kick the winner , thought thats it ! When he missed couldn't believe it . The rest is well known also. THKS AGIN DAVE !
That extra-point against Washington is really memorable to me. It was in the home blackout days. I heard it on the radio and had to wait to see the clip on the news.
The Oakland A's were the best baseball team of the 1970's.....* & Catfish Hunter was the best pitcher of the 1970's...dude won 200 games before he was 30
Strange seeing the 49ers at Candlestick in white jerseys playing on carpet. Growing up in the 80s I always picture them in the bright red jerseys playing on soft, muddy grass fields.
From quotes, Drew broke off post pattern and broke deep. Drew calls route "a turn in, take off". Seems like same pattern he ran on Hail Mary, but in Minnesota the "turn in, take off" was pre-planned. Going off of interviews, that's my take. Others: RB Larry Brown must have been injured, so Thomas played. Resting starters week 14, Duane rushed for 102 yards & a TD, the last plays of career. Staubach had bad game, but over my head on how many passes were his fault. Talbert Staubach feud seemed to get under Roger's skin some. In at least one prior game where Roger was out for coin toss, Talbert refused to shake his hand. In 1975 when Landry brought Shotgun, Talbert said they used it because Roger couldn't read defenses. He had to know statement was BS, but was always trying to play mind games with Roger through media.
Is shot of Calvin Hill at 19:15 legit for this game? Hill didn't play (no stats). 4 days prior at Hou he only carried 3 for 16, so injured then and missed Wash game, but still suited up as emergency? Hill played 10 days later vs Browns. I asked "legit" b/c Steve Sabol at times used stock footage not related to same game, but usually it was more phony crowd shots than sideline stuff
Perry's Indians uniform has that awful v-neck, crappy looking but still a thing of beauty...when a 35 year old looks like he's in his 50s..baseball was so amazing back then
This quality is absolutely incredible. Haven't seen many Blue Jays games yet, so once again many thanks! I've been meaning to watch this and always get started and never get around to going through it, lol
Namath's movement and mechanics sort of similar to Joe Montana and maybe somewhat Marino a little. Montana was more nimble and athletic though and quicker.
After a rollercoaster season that started 10-1 and ended w/ 5 ugly losses (outscored 183-61), few saw this coming. One week later was the biggest heartbreaker ever, largely ending the glory days of the Sack Exchange. But this WC game was a shining moment. Outstanding quality, thanks for posting.
The Jets came into this game having lost five straight, the first time in NFL history a team entered the playoffs on a such a streak. The Jets would win this game and then take the Browns in Cleveland to double overtime the following Saturday in a game known as "marathon by the lake" with the Browns winning. That game, however, likely took a lot out of the Browns and even with an extra day to recover and playing at home in the AFC Championship Game vs. the Broncos, their defense was likely gassed late feeling the effects of the double overtime game eight days earlier, leading to "The Drive" that got the Broncos to the Super Bowl.
When I was a kid in the 70's, the MLB All-Star game was when you could see all of the best players in the league all at one time in one game. This one I was only 6 years old for so I have no memory of it, but the ones that happened a few years later, 1978-1982 especially, I was glued to the television if the Brewers were playing. Seeing guys like Robin Yount, Paul Molitor, Rollie Fingers, and other Brewers was so cool for me. 💣💣Bambi's💣Bombers💣💣 and Harvey's Wallbangers brought Milwaukee Brewers into the playoffs for the first time. Seeing these All-Star games, before I really got into the game is such a treat. Thank you again sir.
