Pretty nice improvement here. A nice denoising and compression reversion was achieved with Topaz, as well as sharpening and upscaling. I used Resolve to bring the brightness down and to remove a slight yellow haze that was present in the picture. The audio on this game had a lot of hiss and the second half had a hum to it. I addressed both of these problems with Audacity. My thanks to romelovesdan for providing the DVD files used for this project.

We can only hope that MORE complete 1970's Monday Night Football games will surface soon. What an incredible revelation, and great service to Classic sports fans & historians that would be.

For those of us who were around in the early 1970s and for whom Monday Night Football was actual "event television", this is exactly the kind of game we remember: an important matchup between excellent teams playing their best with a consequential outcome. In 1973, you couldn't have asked for a better matchup than Steelers-Dolphins: the reigning powerhouse of the NFL hosting the rising powerhouse of the NFL. Other great MNF matchups in 1973 were Dallas at Washington (1972 NFC Championship rematch), Miami at Cleveland (1972 AFC Divisional Playoff rematch), Washington at Pittsburgh (defending NFC champion vs. AFC runner-up), and Oakland at Denver (Raiders-Broncos rivalry).

Wow, this is awesome. The Dolphins from about 71-74 were a great team that if luck had panned out a little differently, could've been the greatest dynasty of all time. Still, two super bowls in a row ain't nothing to sneeze at.

The year before i started watching as a kid. Dolphins were really good; can see why they were repeat champions. The famous game where Shula was questioned by the broadcast booth and he taught them a lesson (end of the game). And Gifford was really hating on the Dolphins, all game.

always wonder what would have happened if the dolphins had won the " sea of hands " game the next season in oakland. pittsburgh would have had to travel to miami to play the dolphins in the orange bowl where they were unbeatable back then

Miami would've won had Pittsburgh played in The Orange Bowl for the AFC Championship Game. I'm not 100% sure of that because Jake Scott had gotten injured in that game against the Oakland Raiders & would he been able to play that game. Objectively speaking, the Miami Dolphins had gotten some awful bad non calls by the Referees in the Sea Of Hands Game. In the 1st Qtr the Referees did not call for Pass Interference against Paul Warfield which would've made the 14-0. That legendary catch by Cliff Branch in the 4th Qtr with less than 6 minutes to go in the game that he scored a touchdown wasn't a catch. He clearly trapped it. Nevertheless, Ken Stabler ran one of the greatest 2 minute drives in NFL history & the Miami Dolphins couldn't stop him.

Back on track....Classic era, Two top franchises of the 1970's, "Jefferson Street Joe" Gilliam and that arm at QB. The included pregame activities puts you virtually right into the stadium. Gilliam < James Harris ? Probably so if you compare those two.

you can see how great the Steelers defense was in this game. Outside the picks, Miami couldn't move the ball on these guys. Joe Greene and co weren't being moved in the run game. Miami's defense was great too, Steelers were still a few pieces away on offense

The Dolphins on top, the Steelers on the precipice of their own dynasty twists and turns galore, the only spoiler is don't go to bed at halftime! Interesting how long it took the league and even the Steelers themselves to fully embrace Bradshaw as a top tier QB. If he was healthy enough to play he should have started.

Ah! Yes! NFL1973, where the Dolphins tried to extend their undefeated streak from the 1972 season . . . struggling against the 49ers in the season opener . . . and in the following week, the Oakland Raiders ending Miami's win-streak at the Memorial Stadium on the University of California, Berkeley, campus. The American League Oakland A's baseball team had a game on that same September Sunday at the Oakland Coliseum.
