It took me long enough to realise that the thumbnail was taken at Newry 💀💀 I bet hardly anyone could see it was Newry because it is hidden behind the red screen 😂
You got bad info on the Scotrail 158s, they are awful. Cramped, worn out , no air con, noisy, cracked window frames which increase noise and smell. Never been on a 755 but they look amazing, hopefully they might replace the 158s one day.
Hi Vex I know I could not watch it all way through but I’ve watched the rest on RU-vid in the Morning Congratulations on reaching £155.93 and betting your target by £5.93 rip you doing the Leaton loop and it was a goood stream. Also Only Vex Crazy Nova and Gabri can reply to this comment!!
The class 393 and 142 don’t suit Express because they don’t have first class and the 142 is too slow at 75mph also the 395 is too fast and too slow at the same time on overhead, it goes at 140mph and on third rail it curses at 100mph
Northern were certainly the bane of my university days where I needed to get three trains most mornings...timetable-wise the connections should have been more than adequate, it was rarely the case.
I grew up on the bishop line in Shildon, used to live in the courts just above the signal box. They used to run a summer Sunday services from Bishop Auckland to Whitby which would be a nice day out. One of those trips I remember though had a single carriage 153 for the return trip with everyone crammed in with no other real way to get back home. Another memory that sticks out in my mind was when I went to make my usual trip to Darlington & for some reason I was treat to a 158 in original TransPennine Express livery which even had a BT phone on board. A major step up from the Pacers that rattled along the line usually.
The only problem I have with Northern is the number of cancellations caused by Action short of Strike, which should be made illegal. A full strike with public awareness is acceptable but this ASOS is totally out of order.
Brilliant video! In terms of routes, my favourite would have to be the Manchester Airport - Barrow in Furness line. I've only rode the stretch between Preston and Cark so I can visit a family friend, but the views near Grange are brilliant! You also pass by Carnforth Heritage Centre, so I had my eyes glued out the window for about 5 minutes lol.
The Two car Sprinters used on Tees Valley and Durham coast lines are frequently two car and frequently overcrowded, especially between Middlesbrough and Newcastle.
Mate……. This video is SO amazing! Beautiful execution,Number of stock! Stations,Explained lines that operated, and about the competition! Well done for earning a sub. Not on,y that but also the most-underrated RU-vidr ever award!
The current state of Northern more of less reflects the past decades of neglect. Little to no infrastructure improvements on that result in both fast and slow trains getting stuck on the transpennine routes or just completely congested. The old rolling stock needs replacing but even when the 197s came in they were not to the same standard as what is procured down South. Just another example of the regional inequality in Britain.
Good video, despite all the inconveniences! However, you’ll have to be pretty careless to top what I did last weekend. I went out to ride/film the first Rochdale-Ribblehead service and when I got home I inadvertently deleted the lot before I’d managed to download it! What an incredible waste of time and £££!
Northern is my local operator too, with me being at the end of the Airedale line. I have found Northern to be reliable, especially compared to TPE, at times I would use Northern's trains to avoid TPE at all costs
