Hello everyone welcome to the channel. Todd’s Outside Again was started to continue to interact with the good, like minded people, in this outdoor community after my son stepped away for a break from his channel. It will show the growth of my awkwardness in front of the camera as well as growing a small firewood business with my son. Father and son team working together to pass on work ethic and life lessons. Hope y’all enjoy!👊🏻
Todd it looks like you've been pretty busy. You have to take the good with the bad it all makes firewood. I get the ugly stuff and hopefully sell the rest. I'm hoping I can get to splitting soon, between work and the weather etc. not much splitting going on for me. Take care.
Hello Ben. You are absolutely right when it comes to free!!! I came out ok. This tree service dump just took me a lot longer because of the size of the logs!I hope you get some time soon for splitting. I appreciate ya stopping by👊🏻
Yeah I hear ya! Vertical is definitely the way to go for pretty wood! That vertical I had on loan was sold and that’s what I’m doing this demo program for. Norm helps me with the opportunity to run great splitters and my channel helps people find him. I would someday when the money is right love to have a vertical. Thanks for watching James👊🏻
Hello John. Evan and Kendal are really enjoying college but miss home. Evan has a pretty heavy workload being an engineering major so that’s keeping him real busy! Thanks for stopping by👊🏻
Yeah it looks to have been just the one log that was crumbly and punky. I’m still happy with the ratio of good vs bad out of this tree service dump! Thanks for watching Bobby👊🏻🥃
That would be nearly impossible for me. That WolfRidge pushed on. Great job. Both you woodyards are looking great I'm looking forward to the next one. Have a great week.
Sure feels satisfying when you get through a big pile of tree service stuff and can rake up all the debris and make your work area nice and clean again. Nice neat inventory of wood you have there!
Satisfying is one reason I do firewood!! It’s a great feeling to step back and look at what ya accomplished at then end of the day! Instant gratification! I take up after every outing for that reason😂 Thanks for watching Ben👊🏻
Yeah I have totes full of uglies in the other woodyard. I will sell some of them and use the rest to heat my garage this winter. I’m just out of room for them and the neighbor has been wanting some for fires so I have been giving them to him. The stuff burns great just not the best to look at😂 Thanks for watching Kevin👊🏻
It all burns. These uglies burn great too! Just not the best to organize and stack. Gotta store them in totes and I’m out of tote space. The neighbor has been enjoying them😂 Thanks for watching Ed👊🏻
Been on the fence between a eastonmade ultra or a wolferidge 22rs. Every dealer I call doesn’t carry the 22rs. They tried to persuade me to get a 28 pro but I just can’t get past that slow cycle time. It would be nice if it had the 6.5 cycle time like the 22rs.
I hear ya Timothy! The cycle time isn’t an issue for me unless I want to split with the single wedge! Then I would rather have the 22RS. I have used both the Ultra and the 22Rs and I really liked the flush table of the Ultra but I really give the edge to the 22RS because of the log lift and the extra splitting force! I’m leaning towards saying the 22RS might be the best machine for my operation as well. Thanks for watching 👊🏻
Yeah I’m not a fan of spinning my wheels on punky wood but it was just that one log so 🤷♂️ Makes a mess. I on to some good stuff again now. Thanks for watching Daniel👊🏻
I hate punky wood. It makes a really bad mess. I had a 30” Doug Fir log that had about 5” of punk around it. I made some nice bundle grade wood with it. But I had to work around all of the trash that was falling off of it.
Yeah it definitely takes more time to get splits salvaged out of a log when you run into punky wood. Starts getting frustrating to see all the waste 😂 I appreciate ya watching Amanda👊🏻
What the name of your log splitter? Down here in the south that's all we can get, tree service wood. We can't get semi truck loads. But free wood is always a good day.
Hello Jordan it’s a Wolfe Ridge!! Look at the video description for links to my local dealer in St. Louis and also to the Wolfe Ridge website for all their models! I appreciate ya watching and commenting👊🏻
@toddsoutsideagain ok thanks. I started my firewood business going on 4 years. I bought a countryline when I started. I'm still using it. I'm bite the bullet one day and get me a better splitter.
😂 Evan was actually home this weekend but was at a wedding during the game! We rewatched it this am before he went back. He left about an hour ago! He was bummed he missed the game. Heck of a game. I was about to lose my mind in the second half!! Roll tide Roll‼️ Thanks for watching Brandon👊🏻
Way to push through that big tougher tree service wood. It really slows ya down and takes the fun out of firewood at times. You got a machine that’ll take care of it, looking forward to what’s next! Enjoyed it Todd!! 👊🏻🔥🪵🇺🇸
I keep all the real ugly stuff for my fire pit and wood stove. I know it doesn’t have to be pretty to make heat 😂. Nice work getting through that pile of tree service wood. The tree service is much harder to work with than the firewood logs I buy.
Yeah I usually fill up totes with uglies and sell them cheap in the fall/ winter! Great for garage woodburners that don’t want to spend a lot heating a building. I heat my garage with some and sell the rest! Yeah log piles like you buy would take a lot of the time out of it and less wrestling around big rounds! You know I like to stack the rounds as well so it’s easier when splitting. Take care Russ and thanks for watching 👊🏻
Well Martin I have enjoyed running this Pro! It’s not fast but it’s a real splitter! It just happens to be their entry level commercial. I will be switching it out soon! Lotta real splitters out there that aren’t orange and blue😂 Thanks for watching 👊🏻
What choices you have😊. This splitter with auto cycle and hydraulic adjustable wedge keeps you moving steadily. And tackles the monster logs you keep getting.😊
Lotta great choices!! I have enjoyed running this Pro. It is a little slower for using a single wedge but with the auto and a 4 way ya can like you said gain that time back. We will be switching it out to something I think will fit my operation soon? Thanks for watching 👊🏻
Well done. You’re getting to the point that most of have a hard time keeping things straight lol. Are you marking or documenting date or species to keep it all straight? Hell you might be far enough ahead it won’t matter. Bulk sales might mess that up maybe sorta lol. Again great job.
Yeah Evan had it all documented and he forwarded it all to me! I have to keep it down too much to remember😂 Yeah we stay so far ahead that it doesn’t matter but selling in bulk really clears it out fast! We sold most everything last year. Thanks for watching Stan👊🏻
Hey Todd. A lot of folks simply won't mess with the real big tree service wood. I think you've shown that if you have the right equipment, and you're willing to put a little additional work into it, you can still come out with a LOT of nice firewood.
Very true! I’m probably gonna be one of those people after another load like this with no equipment to move it😂 Takes a lot more time to process it down! You do get a lot but it makes ya wonder if the added stress on your body is worth it. I appreciate ya Dick👊🏻
You sure did get more good than bad in that massive load! The 28 Pro sure has the power to deal with it. Too bad you don’t have a boiler😂Have a great one Todd👍👊🍻
Yes I did! There was a few massive logs that were donated to the burn pile next door as well. Probably would have been another 3-4 FC out of them if I would have been able to split them! The 28 Pro definitely has some grunt!! If I had a boiler I would not mind taking the extra time splitting the real ugly stuff down! Maybe someday? Thanks for watching Jeremiah 👊🏻🍻
I wish I had a couple boiler customers! I do sell totes of uglies. I just wish I could fill my dump trailer with them this time of year and deliver them all to free up tote space😂 Thanks for watching 👊🏻
@@toddsoutsideagain yeah down here in NC there’s a good market for firewood but an overwhelming majority of people who burn outdoor boilers are doing it themselves. My neighbor and a friend down the road both run boilers so they keep my woodyard clean…ish those guys will burn anything from a pallets with nails in them to a skid bucket loads full of stumps with the first inch of topsoil under them 🤣
I know you had opportunity to try out the wolf ridge vertical. Great splitter but price and portability is not good. Did you ever look at the split fire 1165 vertical splitter? With the combo of your box store splitter and it might be a great option. Just curious.
Hello! I have been watching some vids on other channels on the split fire vertical. They definitely have carved out a different market with its size and portability! Thanks for watching 👊🏻
Well ya got a point🤣 I think I strive to make it look as good as it can because eye appeal definitely helps when it comes to sales! Thanks for watching 👊🏻
Hello Sean! I am starting to lean more towards a 22 RS than a 28 pro! 28 pro is a great splitter and if you are wanting to make bulk firewood, it’s great. For the most part I make 85 to 90% bundle grade and recreational Firewood and I believe for what I’m doing the 22 RS would be faster using a single wedge, which is what I use a lot of as well.
