I am a great fan of the old school PBA. Most of my video clips are on putfile.com, before I discovered youtube. By going to my website, www.mrbowling300.com, you will see links to all my clips that I have posted. They are some of the best moments in PBA history.
Marshall is still alive today. He is a true treasure. We lost Mark not too long ago. Marshall should still be doing broadcasting for the PBA shows. He was so good. They better do something before we lose him
2:30 "Las Vegas, Califorina"? Dave Diles does not know what state he said. It's gotta be "Angeles" but not Vegas. Very offbeat of his commentary at Torrance, California for the PBA Spring Tour.
Mark Roth was my favorite bowler the very first time I ever wAtchrd him, automatically Is all I remember the guy was a Excellent Bowling Machine ✝️✝️✝️
HBO should reboot the 2025 PBA Bowling Tour series with new current professional bowlers! Or all six networks would carry the the 2025 PBA Winter and Spring Tour telecasts!
Bo is as awesome in person as on TV. I got to against his team on league a few times on Monday Men's Trios league at Stuart Lanes in Florida mid 0's. He was bowling with his son, Trip. I believe he was still averaging around 245. Smoothest mechanics maybe ever. Just one of the greats
Due to the size of the viewing audience (and to keep bowling proprietors happy :) Bo's advice on lane courtesy was correct but I think two lanes each way is standard at the higher levels. It was in the leagues I bowled in the late 70s and 80s.
I was there with my Dad (I was 12 and been bowling for 2 years) on the non-TV side of the house about 2 rows right of the announcer booth and it was so exciting. Miss King Louie West.
As I watch these old shows, two things stand out. The first if they don't have names for the oil patterns. I suspect because they only have one or two back then. The other is how the scores average around 30 to 40 pins higher today. And *_THAT_* I suspect that is a mixture of new materials being used in the various balls, and the '2-handed' bowlers who seem to be the majority these days.
I wondered....and just verified it. Guppy Troup if Kyle Troup's father. For those who don't know him, Kyle is the 'two-handed' pro bowler who wears the bright flashy clothes and has the large red Afro hair, and also happens to be the winner of 12 titles including 2 'majors'.
Bo Burton color announcing with composure, passion, insight, knowledge and professionalism as always. Yet, moreso today during the introduction. Great telecast with Ozio and also Ballard Jr.
Classic. CEO of Firestone in attendance. It would be like Jeff Bezos attending a bowling tournament. Now, sadly, the money in 1965 is the money in 2024.
