I somehow never could convince myself of buying a Bambulab and never really new why. But you said it: It is like Apple! And I would never buy something from Apple! 😉
@@TwoMooseDesign thanks, that helps alot! One of our aprrentices is thinking about integrating a tambour into her journeymens piece when she finishes her time as an apprentice and we were thinking about the width of the cut to not disrupt the grain more than necessary.
@Two Moose Design is it possible to order Bambu A1 without the AMS unit at first and then later on order the AMS unit install it without perhaps having to order a new Hot End to be able to feed the four filaments ? Thank you for your review and your time, happy printing.
Bought a K1 Max from ebay. It came broken, glass broken everywhere, heatbed doesnt work, aka printer doesnt work. 9 days later i still havent received a replacement. They tried to convince me to accept some parts along with a troubleshooting guide so i could fix it..? What a joke.... I'm going Qidi after this awful Creality support and ebay store.
Oh no that sucks! I saw several people complaining on the facebook group that their printers from the eBay store coming all messed up. I’d send it right back if it came all jacked up
I’ve got an x1c, P1S,a1 and a1 mini, the one I would recommend is the A1 as the maintenance and nozzle changes are far easier if you don’t intend to print abs/nylon. All multi material single extruder printers poop like crazy, Bambu just got there ahead of the rest to understand the problem. Now creality, phrozen and Elegoo are but some to jump onto the poop production wagon.
I think the A1 mini will be just fine, it will Print great. My argument is I feel you are going to want more bed space as you progress into 3d printing so personally I would buy the A1 for the larger bed space. Either way I think you’ll be happy with the A1 or the mini.
I had the same question in my mind. Bc for the money of the a1, I could also get the mini with the ams. But I thought to myself, that almost all things I wanna print, will fit in the mini and for the few times I would use the ams, It isn't worth the extra money. So I just went with the a1 mini and ordered it a few days ago. I was having an ender 3 for 4 years at least and I didn't use the bigger bed so often. And when I have to print something bigger, I think, I will just try to cut my models so, that I can maybe glue them later or so haha but let's see if this will work
@@BESTofAlp yeah most of the times I'll print smaller things anyways. It's just, when you want to print something bigger, it's nice to have the A1. And I'd definitely go for the AMS because I'd like to have TPU and PETG in the pipe or 2x the same one, so if one is empty, the the printer can just go to the next one. That's peace of mind 😍
"More geared for beginners"? Are you serious??? I've been 3D printing since the days of Rep Rap and this and the A1 mini are a godsend. Super fast, high precision prints at a crazy CRAZY low price. What makes that "More geared for beginners"?? Truly silly thing to say! Stick to Prusa's hugely overpriced archaic offerings if it's that "real 3D frustrating printing experience" your're after.
@@TwoMooseDesign Sorry, you lost me at "More geared for beginners" and I didn't watch the rest. 😌 Ye, it's an amazing printer - also for those who just want to reliably print their own designs.
I think it’s great and “geared for beginners” isn’t a bad thing. It’s super easy to use and prints well is what I guess I should have said. It’s Bambus gateway to buy a p1s or X1C hence “begginer” printer. If this was out when I bought my X1C I woulda started with this simply for the price point.
Yeah most people aren’t dropping $1300 on their first printer lol I typically recommend the P1S over the X1C just because it’s more affordable and most people that are new with even notice the extra bells and whistles
I have 'older' machine with wheels, and actually I think they are great! What maintenance do they need? I just use Ender 3 for two years and more and never touched those wheels after I set them up. What 'little' frustration is it about? What can give you a big frustration is maintenance of rail carets. You will understand when you will have trouble with those. = ) As for color printing, when it changes from certain layer, you can print that on any printer which support filament change on the fly. For example... Ender 3 = ) So AMS gives automatically color change. Also you actually can reduce waste percent, for example add some figure which does not depend on any color, and use it as 'waste' tower. You will get a usable 'bonus' item which you can use or sell. But it should be tall enough for the last color change takes place. Thanks for honest review. Not everyone cares about opensource, but it is a good point at least to inform people of what this device allows to do with it. As far as I know there is an opensource firmware for X1, if I am understand correctly it is X1Plus. Bambu was not very fond of it, but after all they allow to use it in exchange of loosing warranty(which will end in a year anyway). So at least for X1 there is some alternative software. But hardware is in big question. Also I heard on some markeplaces there are already alternative components, but not all of them. I personally prefer Ender 3. 'cause it supports filament change, load and unload, filament movement sensor, and who knows what else? You may say 'But my XYZ printer also supports this'. OK, but I want you to remember Ender 3 is already more than 5 years on the market. And new features are still available (because of Marlin firmware and opensource structure). But of course you will need to spare some time to set it up, may be to debug and fill a bug report. Luckily now people who just want to pay to print can just -place order on 3d farm- buy a Bambu printer.
😆 and then what? What am I going to do with a less than a 1/4” of end grain? I would literally lose money trying to make something with it. It also took 10 minutes to surface and would take hours to sand it smooth vs letting the 𝙲𝙽𝙲 work for me
I just bought the A1 mini with ams lite and I really like most of it. The camera though... it feels almost like a camera designed to spy on you rather than show you a cool print time-lapse. 4:57 just look at how much of this guy's garage is visible and how off frame the printed object is! I think I'm going to build a clear case for my printer so that the camera will only see reflections of the printer most of the times.
Speaking of spying, The camera streams over the internet via bambu 'cloud' servers. No peer to peer on the LAN. Pretty much the same mechanism as how you send jobs to the printer. I don't know where their servers are but I have a good guess where. Make of that what you will.
Mines typically facing a wall so it doesn’t bother me, there’s cameras in my shop, on my phone, on my computer. If someone a gonna hack me 🤷🏼♂️ not a whole lot I can do about it. Not like they will see much but me woodworking and 3d printing in my shop lol my printer also has a little door you can put over the camera
A couple of things: First, there is an option called "flushing volumes" in Bambu Studio and Orca where you can lessen the waste. You can also print the waste to an STL if you want to add an extra item on the plate that you don't care about the colors of (I print the waste to screw driver bit holders). You can also print the waste to the infill of the objects you're printing. There are also more efficient nozzle profiles and updates coming from Bambu to reduce waste. You'll never get rid of all of it, but you can greatly reduce it. It's also important to note that the waste is the same if you print 1 item or 10 of the same item. My favorite advantage of the AMS is that when printing PLA you can use PETG as your interface layer between the supports and the item you're printing so there is very little waste and the support basically just fall off.
I heard a way when you somehow add a retraction command just before filament change, this will force printer to cut less filament. And take less time to color transition and thus to make less filament wasted.
"You can also print the waste to the infill of the objects you're printing" is there a video showing that? Pretty sure everyone would be doing that if it was true.
The Darkmoon ICE plate will take care of that resuming issue. You don't even need to heat the bed with it. If you haven't seen that build plate, then you need to.
You’re welcome! PLA might be fine for something like that? Depends how much abuse it will get. I actually think I saw a video on making key chains the other day 🤔
