Tyler panders to black women, specifically bitter black women. They keep watching his movies so I don't blame him for making the same type of movies. After he made the For Color girls I knew his movies wasn't for me. For Color Girls and that movie Precious are probably the 2 worst mainstream black movies 🎥 of all time.
I agree with most of you said but The only thing is I liked pearl for what it was and I agree with the part of you saying it gave a lot more backstory on Pearl and her character. I wish there was a lot more for Maxine. The whole story just felt kind of weak it felt like it was the second draft.
This movie definitely had some outrageous scenes. I would say the fact that Ava was able to go to her parents for support to get through her divorce and be reminded of not letting her joy die was wonderful. She had a great support team throughout the film. What were your thoughts on the movie “Mea Cupla”?
Mea Culpa was silly too. Mea was making some of the dumbest decisions!! Her husband was stupid as well. Also being controlled by his mother and brother. TP seems to really love that narrative.
🤔Ummm you are wrong. She didn’t blame Ava for the death of her son; She blamed Ava for the eulogy. Ava promised the BurTrain family that her father will say only good things. Apparently things went left during the eulogy and the BurTrain family was embarrassed because the pastor was telling the truth. The deceased was a bad person.
I am glad for Cory Hardrict sake! Glad to see him rise above his current circumstances and get a big payday out of it. Other than that I fail to see any decency in the movie.
Ava's daddy was not wrong. He was the pastor and it behooved him as a minister of the gospel to tell them the truth before they too, met their Maker. It was the best part of the movie...
Can we talk about how much of a fucking CHORE it is to watch the second half? It's already 2 hours long, so...why drag out scenes? I was watching someone react to the movie, and I thought, "can we skip to the part when Dallas and Company dies?" the biggest problem is the ridiculousness of some characters and, the overall low standard we as black ppl have for "black films"...😭 I swear as long as its made by a black person, we automatically jump behind it and support it. I skipped half the movie just to see Dallas crazy-ass get shot across the screen (which was satisfying, in a way)
@@B0BBYJ4CK What’s so crazy about that is how we… some of us feel like we should support this JUST BECAUSE he’s black. Absolutely not. Trash is trash. You know what I would support, him listening to the thousands of people saying “sir, please just hire some writers.” Stop trying to do it all! Just hire some writers!!
Great review bro, I’m still going to watch the first one being that its been so long since I have seen it but I gotta watch that one before I see this one. Thanks for the reviews
My issue was the movie didn't really have an "Ending", but kind of implied since they were alive in the therapy sessions. Kind of 90's silly (Angelina balancing on a chair hanging curtains) but wasted Keri Washington in a small role as black best friend. The series really can't move forward if the couple died in that cliffhanger ending. People will not watch if it's a new couple.
This wasn't as bad as Tyler's usual mess. Atleast this time there was no bad hairpiece or wig in sight. If anything it looked like a ghetto Lifetime movie. Yes usual Tyler tropes (Church scene, Light skinned savior, random male strippers, crazy religious old black woman, etc) but maybe Amazon told him to tone that stuff down.
I give Tyler Perry props as an entrepreneur but as a filmmaker with good storytelling and films that will live on? Unfortunately he'll be remembered for his business ventures verse having films we'll be watching years from now. We still watch Robert Townsend, Mario Van Peebles, Keenan Ivory Wayans, and Spike Lee movies but guaranteed we forget Tyler Perry seconds after leaving the theater. Can any of Perry's movies sit next to even Spike Lee's or John Singleton worst films? I think we know the answer.
I think Lifetime movies are better. Even those plots feel recycled but the screenplays are still written in a cleaner fashion. Those stories are constructed way better than what TP be doing.
Most of the movie is okay but like me and my girl stated the opening scene makes zero sense at all and I can image people not getting past it and just ending the movie. I kept saying who the hell would write something this bad it had no point.
Everything said here is 100% true, but I truly hope Tyler Perry never changes! His movies are some of the funniest unintentional comedies ever made! I loathe bad films, but I look forward to every new TP release just to see the ridiculousness he comes up with.
I’m from LA but I live in Miami and truth be told I’ve seen men behave like that but they’re not our color complexion. They’re actually white and they have iscted this vile. I’ve seen it sadly from a few friends of mine in relationships with wealthy men like they was never bums a few, but most of them have money and are horrible.
Why is the Black woman always in a negative; the Black woman can't speak up she just stands there and puts up with this! Tyler Perry hate Black women that's what I see, it's like dump on the women from Mea Culpa to this! It's Ridiculous!!!! He's going to continue with this he's always going to continue with this! He's laughing all the way to the bank.
