Hi, i got surgery a week ago but my left eye hasn't improved. But my right eye has 6/6 vision but not in left. Please someone suggest what gone wrong.. i m freaking out
Logging communication is super important - its a good practice to have that information in an easy to share format - this tends to come in very handy around report card time! 😅 I hope all is well. Continued growth! 👍
Hi Alexa! Loving your videos. I am a K-8 teacher taking on my first middle school position in 15 years (7th self-contained). Plus I'm starting for second quarter. I'm like you a lot energetically but am concerned that I should be more restrained at the beginning. What is the wisdom with energy? (My students have had subs all during first quarter btw)
After my first year, when I was literally falling asleep grading and/or lesson planning, I promised myself I would no longer work outside my contract hours. Now, the only time I work outside my contract hours is when I'm getting my classroom ready for the new year and when I'm doing things for the National Honor Society, which I'm paid a stipend to do. I teach grades 7-12 ELA. I find ways to assess without having to grade a ton of work. Projects and essays take longer to grade, so they may not get those grades back for a week. I'm not required to do detailed lesson plans, so I give lesson overviews with the state standards and what I'm doing to assess learning. I'm not paid enough to kill myself for this profession.
Increasing response rates (Hattie/Marzano) can be tough. I personally like using “wheel of names.” Many students are self conscious about their own reading level or simply don’t want to read in front of others. It’s been a while - I hope your channel is doing well!
I like wheel names too, but not on the daily. It can get "played out" and almost feel elementary. BUT, all of those tools work in moderation. Right now we've been pulling names from a "spooky cauldron." Lol. Hope all is well!
@@teachingwithalexa I agree, you have to change it up and have variety. We are okay, we were actually hit hard by Helene. No power for a week and still no water. Both our channels seem to have grown since I last checked! 👍
I used to keep a clip board with the class roster on it. I would run my finger at a slow steady pace up and down the list humming theJeopardy theme. Whoevers name I landed on I thanked them profusely for volunteering.
If non of them try to participate then over time their social skills will become horrible and since they will have trouble speaking in public, they will just let stuff happen. For example, their food is undercooked and it isn’t safe to eat, instead of speaking up about it, they will eat it anyway and risk their health. Another example, they try to get a GF, without ok social skills, they will never get the courage to walk up and ask. What she is doing is helping those kids.
I had my eyes done 30 years still see perfect a little dry eye I got one mono to read and other for distance no more coke bottle glasses ever best thing I ever did...
I was a high school math teacher for 3 years and now I work for a biotech company. I am going to apologize for my grammar ahead of time. 😂 I am a fifth grade cub scout leader for the Arrow of Light group. In my group, I have a handful of kids that are from different backgrounds and are at a variety of academic levels. This becomes a challenge sometimes with comprehension and participation. This group is going to troop next year so I found all of these suggestions fantastic. Especially for the Arrow of Light group where they have to take ownership over their role with patrols and develop their own sense of identity. Thank you!!❤️
Im a primary school English teacher.. Here in Portugal we don't get our own classroom, we are nomads who grab their backpack and change classrooms every single class..it's preety tough
Yeah, we don't get our own rooms here in the Netherlands either. We do have rooms that are for the department so we can decorate, but we have 2 rooms and more teachers. But the people making our timetables do try to put us in one room for the day so we don't have to keep moving all day. That sounds way too stressful, moving after every class!
This happens. It is not the best situation though if they are caught using their phone so hopefully the ones who do this use some thoughtful discernment before habitually checking their screen
@Lona_gomez yep I can see. The dry eyes makes it difficult but it's early days and you just need to keep those eyes moist and clean. . I was driving by day 3. They use a device like a clip to keep your eyes open one by one. So, absolutely no way to blink and I didn't even feel the urge to blink. Kind of takes that need away. It doesn't hurt. I think everyone is afraid of the machine zapping your eye but for this was the least painful and most quickest. It's all Sensation after that, from the doctor doing his job. It was intense, strange but not painful. They give you numbing drops prior. I read all the scary stuff online and ignored them so I'm glad I did. Just read up reviews about the clinic and doctor before you do.
@Lona_gomez No problem. I know the feeling of research and gaining as much knowledge beforehand is important. Took me 5 years of deciding and plucking up courage 🙃. I got ultra lasik because that was best suited for my eyes.Lasik is good to correct more types of refractive errors. So I have astigmatism and my prescription is high and I'm far-sighted. LASIK procedure: The primary difference is that a circular corneal flap is created first with a laser. No flap needs to be made during a SMILE procedure. While SMILE only treats nearsightedness and astigmatism, LASIK and PRK can treat farsightedness in addition to refractive errors caused by nearsightedness, astigmatism, and some higher-order aberrations. Hope that helps. I did want to do smile (less dry eyes) but that wasn't possible for my eyes. All the best.
Ahh yet another understudied overhyped consumer product 😂 sparkling water all over again. Just watch out when you don’t use clean still water or it could go boom. 😂
Thats my fear as well!! Like something is going to happen and my behind is going to lose a contact.. I have two pair of glasses and cant find neither one so i cam only imagine what will happens if something is popping off.. lol yea im getting this done
I apologize for the late response. I need to make a quick 1 year update vlog! My eyes are great. I see 20/20 and have not had any eye issues. How did your surgery go?
Hi Alexa, I am a new HS teacher who teaches earth & space science and physics. I would love to hear how you use Pear Deck in stations and group work. Any more information would be so appreciated! Thank you. Christina
