Increasing response rates (Hattie/Marzano) can be tough. I personally like using “wheel of names.” Many students are self conscious about their own reading level or simply don’t want to read in front of others. It’s been a while - I hope your channel is doing well!
I like wheel names too, but not on the daily. It can get "played out" and almost feel elementary. BUT, all of those tools work in moderation. Right now we've been pulling names from a "spooky cauldron." Lol. Hope all is well!
@@teachingwithalexa I agree, you have to change it up and have variety. We are okay, we were actually hit hard by Helene. No power for a week and still no water. Both our channels seem to have grown since I last checked! 👍
I used to keep a clip board with the class roster on it. I would run my finger at a slow steady pace up and down the list humming theJeopardy theme. Whoevers name I landed on I thanked them profusely for volunteering.
If non of them try to participate then over time their social skills will become horrible and since they will have trouble speaking in public, they will just let stuff happen. For example, their food is undercooked and it isn’t safe to eat, instead of speaking up about it, they will eat it anyway and risk their health. Another example, they try to get a GF, without ok social skills, they will never get the courage to walk up and ask. What she is doing is helping those kids.
