Hello there friend… One of my favorite sayings is “tying knots to untie my knots. Sounds crazy but this craft has provided me with mental therapy on even the craziest of days. I am super blessed and excited to share what I have learned over my crochet journey with you. Talking the very beginning stages of learning how to crochet and questioning WHY IN THE WORLD anyone would want this frustrating hook and yarn.
But…once you get the knot down…you are going to sail through projects that can be customized for you and your family. And when you are ready, you can totally make a side hustle of this hobby.
Therapy in Knots is the GO-TO place for beginner crochet projects, quick & easy projects, projects under an hour, and something you can do without having to super pay attention to the counting. This is a time to turn off the brain, finding a relaxing method, and winding down from the day.

Great idea with the elastic ties. I'm not crazy about the seam, also the hat seems a little small. I would do another round of increases of 2 hd crochet and then an increase, all the way around. I also do continuous hd crochets, marking each round with a stitch marker. Last round at the end of the round do hdc, single crochet, slip stitch.
Lol my parents have the same frog picture. And thank you for this video. I'm trying to sell some knit and crochet items I'm doing for a little extra money and I couldn't figure out how to take good pictures.
I found your cute messy bun hat by accident and just love it. Your directions are easy, clear and doable for a beginner. I tried to find your website to get the pattern but unable to locate you. Please tell me you are still Therapy in Knots.
I liked the end result -- but this video was kinda all over the place. Just a suggestion with the faux fur Pom Pom. I have the same ones, however I used a tiny button on the inside of the hat. So I cam remove to wash my hats - loop the elastic on the button.
Lol! At the single crochet row i had to undo two stitches because I did hdc’s too! I have to really watch myself because my hands seem to have a mind of their own. Great tutorial! 💗thank you!💗
Good evening just wanted to stop in and tell you how awesome your tutorials are as a beginner was easy to follow your instructions thank you this was a fun project cute bun tuque enjoyed thanks. Think everyone one on my pony tail list is going to get one again thanks.
Hi! I have ordered all of my labels from etsy. My favorite two stores are All This Wood and Idaho Taylor Made. They both do a very good job and the pricing is fantastic!
I haven't attempted the project yet (I've got enough commissioned knitting projects to finish first before attempting crochet, haha), but I've just watched the full video and I thank you for making the first crochet hat tutorial I think my VERY beginner self might actually be able to follow. (I find even videos labelled "beginner" seem to be WAY over my head; crochet is just such a foreign art form! Haha) Thanks - can't wait to try it! 😊
The circumference of my head is 21 inches around. So idk if I crochet tighter or not but I made mine a little bigger. First row 13 HDC, INC in every st around in 2nd row for a total of 26 sts. And 1HDC in the first st and INC in the second st repeating around for a total of 39 in the 3rd row. I hope this helps anyone else out if the hat is too tight. Thank you for this video tutorial. Im excited to make more messy bun hats with my bulky yarn stash.
Yes, I’m glad you confirmed my thoughts, Amy! My hair is in locs and that initial row will be too small for my bun. I’m even considering going to 14 on the first row and decreasing towards the end to taper and tighten near my face. Thanks! 🧶❤️
@@therapyinknots5675 Your welcome, keep making great videos just like this, please consider checking out my content. 🌟Keep rising to be who you want to be🌟
The faux fur Pom Pom is suppose to be removable because they don’t do well in the laundry. People are sewing a wooden button on the inside, they glue a tiny piece of silk ribbon the elastic band so it’s easy to grab. Then slip the elastic band over the button using a hook to grab the elastic slip over button and you have removale Pom Pom.
Thank you for your video. I got some great new information. I crochet and sell my creations at local craft fairs but I’ve been looking to expand online. My pictures are the worst. That is my struggle. Thank you again 🙂
Hi Jaime this is Monica’s Mom. I love your channel. Told Monica I have learned a lot. Monica made me a hat and I have it on right now. Looking forward to seeing more instruction videos.
