Oh, I can just hear the piano, the upright bass and the kit in this. Dont know much about Mr. Monder's work, this is my first hearing of him.

Wow… a blast from the past! I remember I was there at that gig and we weren’t that many in that room upstairs at Ryles, I even bought a CD directly from Ben. Thanks for sharing that video.

Shows you how lame the common listener is. I would have pulled up a chair and stared at his fingers all night not saying a word.

My god!!!! What I find interesting is that it has taken years of my own guitar listening and playing to finally begin to appreciate what an uncompromising iconoclastic creative force Ben Monder is! His work is so unique and almost self-referential to my ears. It is as if he was an alien who found a guitar while traveling between planets and decided to make music by his own invented set of rules. Outstanding!!!!

As usual in most jazz clubs, you can hear endless talking in the background abd have to really focus on the music to really hear what's going on. Pears before swine. I mean diamonds!!

Wow some of this stuff you have to see it to believe it's one person. On top of that, I think this is improvised, both the lead and the chords.

Unfortunately this remids me a lot of Norwegian audiences- something which has been debated a lot in different types of media lately. But it's wonderful to hear the master play- no matter the background noise.

Great music. Not for the faint of heart. I shake my head thinking of how many people wouldn't even know how to begin to listen to this, largely because of their "popular" music programming.

I love how gentle his picking hand technique is. He seems to swoop the pick in an arc so that he can clear the string for descending runs.

When you know the complexity of these 3 standards . You can clearly tell that Ted is improvising chords melody with 2 voices / 3 voices counterpoint over ALL these changes . Never repeating himself , Changing keys in the middle of the songs , improvising with a walking bass lines and all that for almost 10mn... Everything He plays Sounds Great.....GENIUS

If you are about to watch the video and are checking out the comments, just know that there are several glitches where the video glitches and the music pauses for a second. its kind of annoying but the music is still there ;)
