Hello everyone! You may know me from my other channels. I also got into filming retail and malls! This channel is based off of malls, office buildings, stores, and other cool stuff. Hope you enjoy my content!
It's the "online and app" attitude that the retailers are doing thats ruining their businesses. Guess what big tech takes over after the mall is demolished?
I loved the feeling of this place during the holidays when I was just a little kid. It had such a warm holiday spirit vibe to it. Those are memories I'll never forget. I wish they wouldn't have torn the place down but I guess it is what it is.
Honestly it will be better when it’s abandoned. Could do some pretty cool Urban Exploring! Though now that I think about it, there are a lot of sketchy people in Ashtabula, I wouldn’t want to go in there.
I grew up going to this mall and used to work at Sears. I have so many memories of this mall. Hanging out with our friends on a Friday and Saturday night. Hooking up with the cute girls we met from the other schools in the area. So many memories. Will be so sad to see it go but I am guilty myself of not shopping there since I moved away from the area back in 1995.
Kind of sad to see it go, but I get it. There is not enough population in that area to support the mall. You've got the two malls over in Youngstown a half-hour away in one direction, and the Grove City Outlets about a half-hour away in the other direction. And then about an hour north, you have the mall in Erie.
Yeah, our family's almost ALWAYS went to that Sears for anything that's everything back during my old high school days. I could know the layouts of where everything was in my sleep, especially the television/appliance area. LOL!
I grew up Jefferson, just 20 minutes from here. Back in the day this was such an amazing mall. There was everything you could think about here. The early 2000s it was the best place to go. Aladdin's Castle was top tier arcade. The movie theater was always popping an busy. Kmart was amazing. So many memories. Now when I go home and I go walk the mall it's so sad and depressing. Also oh man, funny funny story. When the TGIF closed. Way back when the mall started to fully die. They closed just suddenly over night. Never told anybody who worked there. The people showed up to find they had no jobs, no paychecks. They absolutely destroyed the place. I mean, these people tore the TGIF up they smashed the windows, they gutted out an dragged seats and cushions out into the parking lot setting them on fire, tore up menus an flung them everywhere. They went absolute mad. When the cops showed up all they did was cite the people for littering because they couldn't rightly blame them for destroying the place with such rage. Oh man, also also. Another funny story So the Walmart. Right? The Walmart wanted to build in this one area that was deemed not able to be built upon due to being a wetland. And had to be protected. There was a storage company where it is now. The company refused to sell their land to Walmart. One night, multiple semis and trailers showed up and completely looted all the storage units. Cleaned them out. The lawsuits from the renters made the place sell to walmart to afford the legal bills. It was highly coincidental that Walmart was just able to get the land they wanted after that place got sued into oblivion. Also, the mall use to be owned by a Youngstown mafia family. When they got busted is when the mall truly went down hill starting to shuffle through legal battles.
Bespeaks ah national trend. Perhaps would make good apartments for the homeless. Sure taxpayer's would love that idea. And really, the way things are trending lately the taxpayer's may soon be in there with 'em. The homeless that is.
Man...I dont know what to say...id turn the dam place into a skating rink...to few of those around...nowadays...jus a bad location for stores apparently
@@miked7011Not sure what you mean. I'm just old enough to see things develop and how things decay over time. I've been to cities that once appeared to have been super active but are now ghost towns. Where I grew up, is now overcrowded.
@@MavHunter20XX I was referring to the go track on center st that closed down a long time ago. It did not suck. They had some fast go-carts, way better than GOTL has. I'm 42 and actually laid block on super Kmart at this Mall location to make it super back in 2000 as mason apprentice. Company name doing blockwork was Northeast Masonry. I grew up in 10 minutes from here in Ashtabula.
When was this filmed and was the Ice Cream shop still in business? The Ice Cream Shop was the only food vender in the food court still open last time i was in there in October and the pretzel shop closed shortly after AMC Theaters closed on the 20th of July 2023.
Nice work. That Sears was our “Go To” for just about every thing in the 1970s (including my motocross bike ). The auto center was enormous. The store only had one sales floor with the stockroom and credit center offices for Sears in the basement. The freight elevator also served the stockroom for bigger items towards the back where they sold lawn mowing equipment and tractors and snow blowers.
