I work in IT, but am an avid DIY-er in many things including cars, foods, computers, etc. This is my "blog," if you will, documenting my DIY projects. One of my motivating factors is saving you money!
Hope people can find these videos informative and helpful! Thanks!
I don't claim to be an expert in everything, but i'll do my best to answer any questions.
My guide shows how you would put them in service mode manually without any obd tools. If you have a tool capable of putting it in service mode you can use it and skip the removal of the black actuator and winding the torx screw back
Never pump a pressure bleeder empty. That's how you get lots of bubbles and air into the lines. People please do not do it this way. You must always have fluid in reservoir no less than minimum level and best at max level. Top off with new fluid. Then you put a bottle of new fluid in the bleeder pump. This guy doesn't show any new fluid in the bleeder pump and is not how you do proper brake or clutch flush and bleed.
Disagree. The clutch line on the civic at least does not require pumping a lot of fluid throughout it to flush. As long as you don't run the brake reservoir below minimum it is impossible to pump air into the lines. Physics just doesn't work that way. Keep an eye on the reservoir and there won't be problems. Top off when done. Using the bleeder empty does not automatically pump air into the system. Leak testing the bleeder is done empty.
After I did the rear brakes I started getting a low speed squeak only after the pads get warmed up. Any ideas what it could be? Maybe the edges are too sharp??
Could be caused by the lip that develops on the rotor rubbing against the new pads that haven't yet been worn in. Try doing a bedding procedure, or put some brake quiet grease on the back of the pads
@@ez12a Ok, I put on OEM Honda pads and they have the plastic sticky backing that helps with noise, so Idk if anti squeal on the back of pads would help but its worth a shot
I designed a Torx E11 Hand Socket that I 3D printed and used to turn the EPB spindle. This design is on printables and thingiverse and is free for you to download and print. Search torx e11 hand socket.
Heads-up about the MB dash cam app, it does support auto loop recording and records at 1080p 60Hz, 20mpbs. But only the front camera, you should get a polarizer for the front to reduce dash board reflection. You are an absolute master in getting the rear camera cable routed. That looks like fingertips hurting hard. Great video.
The install is the most difficult process and you do not show especially on the Mac. One it works the rest is self explanatory by the software. The majority of people struggled with the installation!!!!! I already figured it out but that was days in frustration.
Great video, just did mine following this video! Only thing I did differently was I did not remove the actuator clip, it can just stay on as long as you don’t leave it hanging on wire. (I didn’t want to end up breaking the brittle plastic clip, it didn’t come off within first minute and didn’t want to force it) thx for the video!
There really no need to remove the back of the electronic ebrake like that. Just make sure e brake is off and with the right turning compression tool piston turn right in. Done it so many time to all the newer Honda with the newer ebrake system.
In your instructions on where to insert the cleaner tube I can't tell were you inserted into. Did you go up through where you took the filter out of? Also you put left chamber/LHD. Don't you mean RHD? Since you're on the right side of the car?
just curious if you have had issues with your cap. I am doing my 2nd brake fluid change now since x2 years ago. The cap seems to fit alot more tightly and difficult to screw on. I put that cap on my other Honda...and it seems to be easier. Not sure if the o ring is swelled up or not.
@@ez12a gotcha, I just read that for lye brass bushing mod, it was important to grease that area and somebody mentioned to grease the oem slider pins. I know with previous caliper systems from Honda, I would have to if I take the slider pins out
8 years later, your video still helps. I had water pump done by brake shop franchisee. Just year later it started leaking. They are saying parts covered not labor. And price increase on parts not covered. I got ASIN pump for price less than their price increase. So decided to do it myself. Your video helped me. It’s done in great detail and step by step, easy to follow.
Hi dude, it would really be helpful to me if you could tell me the range of motion your jack has, for example 505mm height 330mm height. I have the ramps as yours but the lip/bumper touches first before the tires and i would like to lift the car the same way you have. I don't want to purchase a jack which won't lift the vehicle high enough for the ramps not to fit. Again would appreciate the most if you let me know 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Question brother….How much mm is the gear oil check bolt ? ( at 5:43 which you removed after levelling the gear box)………I am asking to figure out if I can use thin transparent tube and a syringe pump …through that tiny gear oil check bolt hole to refill fresh gear oil ….instead of removing air filter box and filler plug underneath air filter box…..please suggest how much thin tube should be appropriate !!?🙏🏼
Just for some clarification/peace of mind, once the spindle has been manually retracted, does the rear caliper just compress straight in normally like a front caliper? Or does it have to be twisted and compressed at the same time like a manual parking brake caliper? I’m finding contradicting info on this, thanks in advance.
