Enjoyed watching your lindshandmade hack. I just bought the pattern (on sale!) and will look fwd to making a few differnt versions. Your tutorial was well done. Keep up the good work - and nice to see an Aussie doing this work.
I am so happy I found your channel. I have made several of the original H2O 2GO bags with the curved pocket and round bottom. But this is such a game changer. I can make 4 of these in the amount of time it took to make 1 of the original ones. I had thought about making the changes you’ve done but just never got around to it. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Definitely will be checking out more of your videos. Love the way you teach too!❤😊
So enjoyed your tutorial and actually successfully completed it! Thank you as I’m quite new to sewing. I found that once I have a bottle in the bag, the zipper pocket becomes quite tight and hard to get things in and out of it. Do you have a hack that could enable the zipper pocket to extend when opened? I’ve seen pockets that sort of have a pleat on the side so open up a little more but I wouldn’t have a clue how to adapt a pattern. Such a great job and it’s really nice to not have any annoying music in the background whilst trying to concentrate on what you’re doing and saying.
Hi Cathy, Thank you for your lovely comments. I don't have a massive drink bottle so I don't really have the tightness problem however I've heard others with large drink bottles have had the same. The original pattern solves this problem perfectly. By having the external pocket protruding from the front slightly it gives more room that this slip hack. If you weren't ready to tackle the curved front pocket you could try doing a pleated pocket. I'm not a huge fan as I feel they gape open unless you have a closure at the top. Another option would be to cut all your front pocket pieces a smidge wider (maybe 1/8" or 1/4") then when you baste the centre pocket pieces to the long centre panel (original size) it will pucker out a little bit giving you some extra room. I would even play around with tapering it so only the top is a little wider and keep the bottom 2.5" of the pocket pieces the same so it still sits flush for the base and just before it folds under. I hope that makes sense to you. It's just brainstorming in my head and will prob need a bit of play. Good luck!
I loved this tutorial! It was straight to the point without any fluff. I also prefer to sew in metric (I am in Canada, but most people still sew in imperial).. I find it more precise. I just took a look at what the original H2O 2GO is supposed to look like and I much prefer your version of the bag. For your very first video, I think you did an excellent job! Keep it up. :)
Finally, someone sent from heaven to teach me how to make the simplest water bottle holder. 😅 I have been searching and others were too difficult and people who knew and their tutorials were too confusing...but this? Omg!! Thank you, thank you! ❤😊🙏🏽
Haha I don't know about sent from heaven but I am so glad that you felt it was helpful. I tried to make it as simple and easy to follow as possible. Thanks for your beautiful comment 😊❤️
Thank you so much for this wonderful, straightforward tutorial! I am now encouraged that I can accomplish this pattern, and I am going to give it a go! Thank you again!
I liked your video the best so far. Very clear explanation, not too much talking, no annoying background music, no wasted time watching a person sew! I want to see what to do and watch myself sew!😂 Thank you very much! Lynn, Louisiana, USA
I don't personally but there are some on Linds fb page. 😊 She said it works with the original pattern and also the version here in my video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Fs1AnRAoIyY.htmlsi=Ee0UJSHHj4ArkL4e
Thank you ! this makes it seem less intimidating :) I have the pattern but was terrified when I watched other videos. I will make the original at some point but this seems like a good starting point.
Thank you. I love the fact we don't have watch you sew every step. You are very organized. I enjoyed watching and learning from your video!! Please make more!
Thank you for your great video, i have bought the pattern but will also have a zipper in top like this hach😊 is it right understood that i need 2 more back lining and a zipper for the hach??
Yes that's correct. 2 from the back main panel but in your lining fabric. In the description are the details of each thing that is extra or different. 😊
When I first bought this pattern on line I assumed there was a top zipper that just was not visible and was surprised that there was not. Thanks so much for this hack. Wouldn't you have to make the lining back - the one that is part of the original pattern - taller - if you made the top lining the same size as the top outer when you make the original outside zipper? That lining piece matches up with the shorter top part, you know what I mean? I would think the linking piece would be 1/4 inch too short.
Hi Dawn, if you expand the description box there is an edit for that little measurement and all the pieces listed to cut. Sorry I couldn't update the video, maybe one day I will do a new one and make a few changes.
So agree with @terrinow. Wax anxious about how to achieve top section with pattern pieces (thank you for listing those with measurements) but advanced tutorial to see how you matched pattern to main body bag. Excellent presentation, lovely voice, no "hand jive" and no music to interfere with your instructions. Do make more videos and thank you for sharing your time and talent. 😊
Thank you I took another look and my problem was I cut the side pieces at the wrong width so it was my bad. Thank you so much for your response. I really appreciate it.
When I had did my final piece putting the sides on next to the centerpiece, my whole piece was 15 inches wide, which was not able to fit the original pattern. It was too small. Could you tell me what should the width be after putting in the side panels in the pocket.
I don't have the pattern on me as I'm at work but it should end up exactly the same width as Linds original exterior pattern piece. I am thinking your seam allowance was a little too big. It should be 1/4" all the way up to adding the side pieces. Then switch to 3/8" to close at the back.
Couple questions I didn’t realize we were to use a 3/8 inch seam allowance. I use a quarter inch I have my front panel all put together should I continue using a quarter inch seam allowance or should I switch to three eights also the panel pieces were cut at 13 1/2 inches tall and then we are to use the original main body exterior pattern with adding 2 inches to it, but that ends up at 13 inches tall so which is correct should it be 13 1/2 inches tall or 13? Also is the liner that goes inside the bag to be the exact dimensions of the outer piece so the height for the liner should not be the same as the height for the exterior.? Thank you
I use a 1/4" to assemble the whole front with the pockets and then switch to a 3/8" for assembling the body of the bag. The lining is a little shorter than the main exterior. If you add 2" to the lining piece and 2" to the main exterior piece there should be about 1/4" - 3/8" difference (I can't check which as I'm currently in bed lol) So just use the original pattern pieces with the 2" added and cut off any extra.
Ebony this is fantastic, and as others have said, no unnecessary chat. It has made this bag doable for me now, thank you. Could you please tell me what size the bottom is now it's boxed? The original pattern is 6" wide x 4" deep - I'm assuming the boxed bottom is now square? Thanks again, I'll look out for your new videos.
The boxed bottom measures 3 3/4" both wide and deep. I played around with the corner cutout measurements before I made the video to try and get the base as square as possible I stead of rectangle. The body of the bag has the same circumference as the original but because the shape is different it sounds much smaller on the boxed bottom. They actually have a similar base area at 15 vs 14 square inches. 😊
