If you are reading this, please subscribe! Just some people who love to play big games of paper magic with friends. Our preferred format is Command/EDH, but we also have some oathbreaker content as well. We try to primaily play in 4 player pods, but we don't like to leave out our friends, so we can play big games with 4+ players. If that sounds cool to you, then you will like this channel.
Oh yeah, any of us can rule zero whatever we want into a game, but what about tournament cedh play? Practicing with game pieces that you wouldn't be able to keep doesn't seem useful if you want to do well in a tournament.
@@highpoweredhobby those tourneys can have their own rules. This isn’t a sanctioned format either. A organizer can also ignore the latest dumb list As part of their advertising for such an event
If you play a commander that cost more than 3 yes as an atraxa player it crippled my deck I’ve mulled to 4 hunting fast mana and won the game without these lists of blue farm kinnan decks will be meta
This ban doesn't affect me that much personally. I only own 1 Dockside and none of the others, but I do enjoy watching CEDH content. I'm just waiting to see what their response is going to be.
I was a little surprised at the Blightsteel targets, but I was working with different information than the table was. Fun game all around, although I'm a little surprised that Cromat didn't get an everything counter placed on it to shut down mutate.
@@highpoweredhobby do you guys have any kind of road map thought out for when I can start giving you money? Lol Merch is a long way down the line, but do you think you'll get to a patreon before or after ad revenue starts rolling in?
Honestly, we do not have anything like that thought out right now. I have considered it though. I would just hate to create a patreon without any perks. I would need to put in the work to create a discord and stuff to really make it worth it for you guys. As for merch, the only design I've created so far for the channel is our logo. What kind of merch would you be interested in? Maybe I can do some experimenting and create some sample stuff.
@@highpoweredhobby merch is a long way out, it's not worth the hassle until you can order a hundred of something and expect it to be sold out within a month. Any smaller volume or longer sell time means you're not getting good rates on purchasing or shipping rates on your end. Having said that, the logo works well for stickers, and you wouldn't be the first group I've bought a t-shirt from to support them rather than because I thought their logo worked well on a shirt. As far as patreon goes, discord server for spelltable games is pretty standard for magic communities. Higher tier could be a monthly spelltable game that includes a community member. Kofi can also be a pretty successful platform, but not one I have much experience with. Ultimately, it comes down to "I'm looking forward to throwing money at you one day" but how that looks will be up to you.
Thank you for your support, Matthew. I look forward to seeing more of you in the future when we get some of this stuff rolling. Hopefully it doesnt take us until ad revenue to get something started but definitely when that happens we'll get something cooking. Stay cool 😎
Hey there! Absolutely love this deck! Two of the cards in it I am kinda "Ehhh...." on and I know they have their use, but for "Birgi, God of Storytelling" and "_____ Goblin" what would you suggest would be the best replacement cards for them? Thanks for your time!
That's tough. This is a storm deck, and there are a few storm cards better than "Birgi, God of Storytelling" If anything I'd rather take out "Storm-Kiln Artist" it costs one more mana to play and only triggers on instants and sorceries. It does trigger for copying, too, but if you are already copying a bunch of spells, you are already winning. As for "___ Goblin" most of the time, it's basically another "Seething Song" in the deck, which is important if you want the best chance of getting that turn 1 win but I can understand if you don't want to deal with stickers. That being said, if you still want to replace them. I think i would need to know why. If you want to replace them for another card that does a similar thing, then your only options aren't very good. But this deck is a glass cannon. This deck is all into the winning fast thing. It doesn't have any way of protecting its win, so you could replace them with some counter magic like "Pyroblast" or "Tibalt's trickery". You could even give "Deflecting Swat" a try. I hope this helps. Feel free to ask any follow up questions. Happy Building!
@@highpoweredhobby Hi and thank you for your time! So, the sticker thing is a huge “ugh” thing which I why I wanna swap him out and Birgi was partially cause I don’t truly understand the best way to use the card. Both sides seem useful and I don’t know when which would be right to use when. So; I was thinking of a more straightforward card to swap in. I have a Deflecting Swat and Tibalt’s Trickery which are both great cards! So, it was more of a the stickers are annoying and I don’t truly know how to use the storytelling card correctly. So, I was like let’s dumb this down even if it means a slower win. In fact I really like the Tibalt’s Trickery card so I may swap Goblin for him. However some advice and combos for storyteller would maybe change my mind and super helpful!
In this deck you will almost always want to play birgi on its front side to gain you mana everytime you cast a spell. You will almost never have enough cards in hand for the back side to be useful. Most of your card advantage is impulse draw (Jeska's Will). Birgi basically makes all your 1 cost spells free and your free spells net you mana to help build your storm count.
@@highpoweredhobby This is actually super helpful, knowing I can ignore the backside of the card. So, I will keep in Birgi. Taking out my bias, which would you recommend over Deflecting or Trickery?
Most people, I'm sure, would say deflecting swat because you can cast it for free, but I think Tibalt's trickery is a better choice. Here's why, it's only free if you have your oathbreaker out. With this deck you probably aren't going to cast your oathbreaker until the turn you are going to win. If someone had a counter spell in hand, they would just counter your oathbreaker. And the deflecting swat would be useless. Consider this scenario, you get up to 5 mana. You cast your oathbreaker for 2 someone counters it. You could use your 3 for deflecting swat to save your oathbreaker and then do nothing. And hope you untap with it on your turn. Now imagine same scenario with trickery, they counter your oathbreaker. You can't counter their counter and see what they get and have a mana left over to see what you can do with, or you could even counter your own oathbreaker and see what you can flip off the top and increasing your storm count. If it's something that produces mana you're back in the game or if it's something with storm you get a small burst of value when you otherwise wouldn't have. It's just more fun
Because of the wording of the trample keyword the players attacking with Alexios don’t have to assign the excess damage to the player and can instead assign all damage to the creature blocking. While it rarely comes up trample is technically a may and not a must.
My first game with him, had a basilisk collar on him, and thats what happened to me, they just kept assigning combat dmg to creatures..fucking annoying lol
Btw Trample is not mandatory, so you can make it hit a creature and not give the trample damage through. Also a reason why Slicer is better than Alexios sometimes lol.
Yeah. I love your Nelly Borca deck. It's so much fun. My control deck definitely put a hamper on everyone's plans. It's no Sen Triplets, but it's still control.
Yeah, sorry about that. It was my first youtube short ever. Getting all the info I wanted in under 1 minute is actually harder than it looks. I think if I were to remake it now. It would be a little better
@matthewhutchinson2500 I don't know if I can speak for everyone, but I personally like games that are a little long, like 1-1.5 hours. Maybe turn 10. Not because everyone is taking forever to take their turn but because the tides of the game have flipped a few times. Where a couple of people have tried to go for the win but only 1 remains. This game went long because there was so much to consider and actually some rules clarifications that we paused to try and make sure we got right. But we still made some mistakes. I can think of one thing specifically that I did wrong. I wonder who is going to catch it. Faster games can be fun too though like turn 7 were multiple people are in a position to win and there is a huge clash. This is a hard question to answer. I think I just like to play the game LOL
Haha, your comment really made me second guess if they really did have haste. But yeah they did. Mimic vat gives them haste after making them Pay 3 (tap) : Create a token that’s a copy of a card exiled with Mimic Vat. It gains haste. Exile it at the beginning of the next end step. And since Ojer Taq creature token tripling text is a replacement effect you can basically read the ability like this Pay 3 (tap) : Create 3 tokens that are a copy of a card exiled with Mimic Vat. They gain haste. Exile them at the beginning of the next end step.
@lorenzobattaglia5927 hey just wanted to make sure you saw that the decklist was added. Kyle makes a mean deck. I was happy to lose to him in this game.
Yes. Because her ability is an ETB so I need multiple ways to abuse it and dig for more cards. Plus, the cards you exile under her are only temporary. After you cast them, they go to graveyards, so you need your commander to die so you can recast it. Clones are great for that because legend rule. Plus, if your opponent plays something awesome, they're great for that, too. If you notice, I have some high cost clones in there as well, my favorite probably being hulking metamorph. Because her ability is an ETB, but it also cares how much Mana you spent so the bigger the better, but Hulking megamorph has the alternate casting cost, so it's never a dead card. I have played multiple games with this deck and have won by exiling my opponents decks because of this. I hope you enjoy your Jeleva as much as I enjoy mine it's a lot fun.
@@highpoweredhobby oh okay I understand. I've had her for sometime but my list didnt convince me, I'm rebuilding her, lets see how it goes. Thanks for the reply
Got a Chainer Nightmare Adept deck that's like that. I'm either blowing out the table with Chandra's Ignition on a 40 power Psychosis Crawler on turn 3, or I'm sitting at 2 mana til turn 8, not much in-between.
That's what I love about my toggo and kodama deck. It can be explosive and win on the spot but it can still be very grindy. Just make so many rocks that I can kill any creature on board. I remember playing against Joe's old korvold deck and I was holding my own because I kept killing his commander with rocks.
Shalai and Hallar plays way better than upon first reading it. It can deal a ton of damage out of nowhere. What do you think the best card in your deck is? Or at least your favorite one to see in a game?
15:23 Proliferate unfortunately doesn't let choose the counters. Only permanents or players with counters, and then you give them one more of every counter on them. So Dylan should also have 3 more energy. I learned this by having an experience counter commander while playing against infect. I killed myself that way but my ezuri had 22 exp!!
You are super right. I learned this interaction after posting the video. It's awesome that you are the one who caught it. Nice work 👏 22 experience counters is awesome
