Get DTS on laserdisc asap, you’ll be amazed. Titles to get are jurassic park, or lost world, they are easy to come by. Some are darn expensive like ID4, Speed, True Lies. Love your video’s, keep them coming…
I dont know about laser disc but i did notice that for some reason the sound on some dvds blow away blurays sound but yiu can only tell when you had a surround sound system hooked up the dvds had more bass and were louder
Fantastic to see a laserdisc fan ... have a Pioneer CLD909 with Sony AC3 demod for Dolby Digital, hooked to a Yamaha RVX 735 7.1 amp with JVC DiLA projector with the DVDO processor. Been collecting the format since the late 90s and still holding on among the DVDs and Blurays. Best movies to buy for the 1990s releases and the AC3 sound is still outstanding compared to the compressed format!
If you get the chance, grab the CAV box set, the picture quality is even better. Also, the Special Edition set has a Dolby Surround track specifically remixed for the home theater arena, and it will demolish your house.
I watched the 20th century fox collectors edition dvd of Independence Day on July 4th with the family and had a great time. At a time when physical media is so expensive its good to know there are alternatives to 4k that are still thoroughly enjoyable.
Have you seen the 4k version? It's terrible. Wish they had the original version but cleaned up, not these releases that have grain scrubbed and heavy DNR applied.
Laser disc reminds me of DVD But smaller ninja Turtles were my favorite, but I guess I grew up with the newer version on Nickelodeon anybody that still a fan you can see the ninja turtle live in the Nickelodeon theme park in New Jersey Mall of America go ninja🥷🏼 Turtles🐢
I recently got Disney's Hercules on DVD and it has an amazing THX certified Dolby Digital track and I saw there's a laserdisc of that. I wonder how that sounds in comparison.
i had it too and loved it, but my dad eventually threw it on the trash in 2006. i was still a kid and attached to it. haven't gotten over it to this day.
@@austinwillcut4919 i don't know, maybe just plain ignorance. the 00's was the decade of great technological advancements and maybe he thought it was dead. but still, LDs are not something to be treated like that.
Sounds a bit better than the blu ray which is a bit too low and quiet, some of these really old LDs seem to have better bass too than their DVD/blu ray counterparts but not in every case..
Unfortunately, I have the Predator: Ultimate Wax Edition but I do have the older SE DVD as well, the DTS track on Predator is demo quality. I want to get the 4K eventually.
I love this movie and even the second one. The third one is okay, the 4th one without Will Smith is trash. I need to get this and ID4 on laserdisc so I can do a double feature.
I had this exact disc. I gifted it to a friend back in '04 along with my older DVD player after upgrading. He had a 65" non-HD TV and was still rocking VHS only so he was pretty blown away by this disc and DVD in general.
Purchased this a few weeks back, side by side Dolby Surround 2.0 I found to sound better than the Laserdisc. I was surprised. Hunting down old 2.0 tracks on dvd has and comparing has been a recent obsession.
@@MrMikey_1981absolutely, some of the older movies thrive with a track like that. The modern remixes are a step away from the original intention each time.
After having laserdisc for a few years I finally modded my demodulator and been hooked on AC-3. Now I go for AC3 copies of movies when available and also trying to replace the current ones.
I knew a guy about 20 years back who loved this movie and watched it so many times on VHS that he wore the tape out! I liked it also but have not seen it in years now. I have yet to see the sequel but for sure would like to.
I saw the sequel but to be honest I don’t remember anything about it 🤣 it’s been years and I don’t think there was anything as memorable as some of the things from the original. Definitely worth a pick up if folks are collecting older physical media. 👍
I'm also still a believer in older DVDs. I own this Five Star set and the Blu-ray. This DVD is still a quality disc and worth a pickup for how cheap it can be found. Keep up the good content. 👍
