I just passed my Security+ with a score of 890! Your tips definitely helped me. Suggestion : Examcompass tests have lots of incorrect answers and also lacks explanations, so I felt very confusing doing them. I also completed several practice exams from S-killcertpro for a week which I feel very accurate and reviewed their exam notes the day before the test. Nearly 80% of the questions were from these sets.
Great to hear, I am currently studying for it too and I find the exam compass tests quite sectioned on particular topics. Also Professor Messer is tedious to get through. Curious, what resources did you use and find most useful? Thanks
Thanks for the resources dude! I'm a Navy vet myself, going to finally get my A+ so it's nice to know how to knock it out quick since I already have a tech background.
I love how you quickly mention in the beginning, "Get rid of distractions and get it done". For me, I get easily distracted by but am trying my best to minimize anything not related to passing this exam. Good luck everyone!
I did the Google Security Certification (i Took my time with it... 4.5 months to complete) and then jumped to Comptia Sec+ and already paid for it. with the Retake just incase. From the study guide 1-3 sections so far seem pretty easy when it comes to security controls, social engineering, threats and vulnerabilities. But I know I lack confidence. I am having a kid in 6 months (wife is very pregnant) so the pressure is everywhere.. I hope everyone who is taking this certification keeps going and don't give up, you got it.
The only way I as able to grasp these concepts so fast is because I had a lot of previous related knowledge. If you're coming into it fairly new to IT its very normal for it to take much longer (3-6 Months) to fully learn.
@@VetToTech I bought the Security+ SYO-701 and I’ve beeeeen struggling. Maybe I just need to be patient with myself cause I thought something is wrong with me but to be fair I’m new at this, I have no previous knowledge
So glad you brought that up about the private sector because that is why I am trying to find a gov contract job in IT. Everybody really is about themselves and if you are not part of the "click" good luck. I worked on a gov contract for 3 1/2 years with Humana Government Business and loved it.
Mike Myers’s course was always more fun and entertaining. But I wouldn’t doubt Professor Messor. At least he has a study group as far as reaching out to the world and helping everyone in the IT world pass the CompTIA Exams.
So blessed to have found your video, I'm a DoD civil service employee, prior active duty and my job is being phased out and transitioned to the military. I love computers (I've always built my own gaming PC, but that in no way qualifies me for a role in IT) and had a timeline of my program "sunsetting" so I knew my operational capacity for employment was going away and I was afforded an opportunity (with 0 experience, & no education) for a mid lvl IT systems Administrator role in the same unit. but it got escalated and timelines changed so I am now speeding through as much info as possible to get spun up for my certification to be 8570 compliant as an IAT lvl 2 Technician, I paid 2500$ out of pocket for a course (bootcamp) for Sec+ and a ton of it was hands on Prac Apps using (Wireshark, Kali Linux, Older Windows 19/20 VM's for vulnerabilities) it was a complete waste in my opinion it didn't prep me for passing, but i see it's merit in having real world examples. So i used Udemy through Digital U and took Jason Dion's course which I feel prepared me more, and now I'm freaking out again... so I'm going to take Meyers Course and spin up on those PBQ's take the coursera certs and get jamming on some Practice Exams. I took an whole week off work to dedicate time to do this. you're video is a great resource thank you so much!
I don't know why my course labeled the Virtual Machines as Windows 19/20 I just assumed it was that years patch? like those systems were running on the patch that was around 2019/202 is my best guess I never asked my instructor
I've heard some people advocate for Certified Dumps? I've also heard others say it is frowned upon. If I'm not using them as a way to learn but more so a way to get familiar with the test itself could they be beneficial in aiding my timeline to learn? , in addition to Virtual Training and Practice exams
Great advice bro. Honestly I do feel I have followed similar steps and still haven't felt ready to go write. The gravest sin a person already working an IT job is assuming it all ends there and they don't need to get certs. I already got a job no certs but always feel unsure so I want to go write it.
So I work in it and just an fyi if you get your a+ and it expires you can then get your network+ and it will renew it. Don’t waste your money and abuse this. Same works with network+ and it expires you can can then get security + and it renews the others
Don’t usually comment on videos but this one deserved it! So genuine and to the point, taking my core 1 exam soon and I have been feeling nervous about it. Your words have helped me a bunch. THANK YOU! Wish you the very best 😊
@connorschachow3833 The mock exams provided to me from my bootcamp, chatgpt and Quizlets for the 701 that random ppl made. I also used youtube watching ppl analyze and answering the questions for over an hr. I'll do the google cybersecurity for fun and givr the code to either my classmate's first or sale it for dirt cheap if possible. Oh I like Udemy I plan to go back and finish the 40% to completion.
Hi there, big fan of your videos. I’m following a similar path just finished the A+ and now looking at the Google IT Support Professional Cert. Just curious how did you find Googles course after completing the A+, and how long roughly did it take you? Thanks for the awesome content!
Thanks! It took me about 2 months to complete as I didn’t make it a priority. It definitely filled in some knowledge gaps after obtaining the A+ and even further cemented some of the more fundamental concepts like networking, hardware, etc. I would recommend it, as I think it helped me overall.
Hey I was wondering if you could give us an idea of how to prepare for the PBQ'S I was totally unprepared for the core 1 PBQ'S still passed but would like to feel more comfortable with them going into core 2. Also what cards did you use on quizlet and how did you format them in the app? test flashcards etc....
Applause to those spreading free cybersecurity education! I'm contributing with videos on cybersecurity and CompTIA Security+. Let's keep moving forward!
Hi Thanks much for your insights : ) Could you make a video on what certificates should we do after security + for an individual who is aiming to become a security analyst in the industry
