Hi, I am Railfan from Western Australia. I like to film the trains, and other transperth or steam-related things in and around WA. I sometimes go interstate to film trains. I mainly film around Perth, you will mostly see freight trains, passenger trains, and Miniature railways here in WA. and then the odd videos on when I do go overeast / overseas.

I saw the old girl in 1986 whilst being shown round the Hamersley rail facilities at Dampier by a member of the Pilbara RHS. She was basically just a rolling chassis as she was in the middle of the overhaul mentioned in the commentary. Also in 1986 my family and I were invited by the PRHS to travel to Mt Tom Price and back on the annual teachers' train, which took them down to Dampier and Karratha for what I think was an annual staff development activity for the region's teachers. I still have pics of the trip, as well as of the derailment that happened that year, tearing up 20 km of sleepers and wrecking 20 ore cars at the entrance to the Dampier yards, caused by a wheel fracture and consequent bogie anomaly. Total cost $4 million...categorised by Hamersley as a "minor incident"...

Thankyou for posting this. You did a good job. Enjoyed the history of the trams. My Mother as a young girl & grandmother used to catch them in North Perth, Angove St. As you say the tramlines were pulled up by 1958. The "WA Tracks by the Swan" Book you showed pics from here is Excellent read, the photos are wonderful tribute to yesteryear! You can borrow from libraries. Well worth a look!🚋🚞

@monsvillerailways5736 Месяц назад
There was nothing TT120 related at the Brisbane Model Train Show either. Hornby has limited who can sell TT120 here to a few outlets country wide and that appears to have restricted availability and it's growth in Australia.

Pa worked at Govt Printing Office 50 yrs Wembley .Got the "golden handshake" & watch. They appreciated their workers more then! Keep them coming pls guys 😊👍

Back to the main problem .. ripping the tram lines up was the stupidest transit decision along with Charlie Court stopping all the long distance passenger trains (apart from Kalgoorlie and Bunbury).

I remember taking the #77 to and from the Perth train station from and to Bennet St, East Perth in 1965 for 3 years. The conductor jumped off the trolley at the corner to reconnect the jig to the power line. I guess thats how he got called the "conductor". !!?

Hi I served my apprenticeship at Crossley Premier .1958 / 1964 I recall a 4-cylinder diesel engine manufactured for a company in Australia. The main cast iron engine block was found to have a crack in it while under test prior to shipping. I believe it was repaired. Think this was one of the last engines produced before the company moved to Pielstik engines.

Used to catch them all the time as a kid, between Mt Lawley and Perth CBD. Sometimes on the intersection of Beaufort & Wellington, the overhead booms would detach from the power lines and come crashing down on the bus roof. The driver would have to get out, grab a long pole-mounted tool from the side of the bus and use it to reattach the booms.

The tram in the video is Perth tram 66. WA used to have trams back in the olden days but eventually got rid of them. Tram 66 was actually the last tram to operate in Perth back in 1958! That tram is operated in Whiteman by the Perth Electric Tramway Society, where they also operate a few Melbourne trams too.
