Thank you for the demo. Well done I'm confident now the super bass has enough gain for the sound I'm searching for. If I need more gain, I've got my chase tone boost pedal and others to get me into higher gain territory.
Oh please, if you can’t turn up an amp and throw a microphone in front of it, don’t review it. No, whatever IR does not sound like the amp, just like a dead cat with mold over them.
Omg some of these comments, asking about “6L6 tubes”, cranking the “master volume”, the “electrical hum”… Do ya all know nothing at all about tube amps or about vintage Marshalls? 😂
I’ve got a 70 Superbass, 79 2203 and a 71 1987 and play them all through 68 Pulsonic Greenbacks. This is a great video and highlights the high mid focus and more unforgiving top end of the MV Marshall. IMO the only metric where the 2203 outperforms the others is aggressive rock at higher Preamp settings or taking boosts for classic metal and more modern styles. But for medium crunch and lower gain stuff the 4 holers(and an attenuator) perform better. More midrange(and warmer in the midrange) sweeter high end, more articulate in the bottom end, more character and responsiveness. I’ve had the 2203 for 10 years and if I played primarily late 70’s/early 80’s hard rock and classic metal I’d probably keep it for another decade, but I’m more into late 60’s to mid 70’s low to mid gain stuff so I think I’m gonna move it on. 😢
Just wonder how did you get this high distortion from a Fender Twin Reverb ? Even with 50% bias it´s super clean even at volume 7. The most clean amp ever at this level volume.
Great tones. I just got a 69 Super Bass and it’s in getting new tubes and filter caps. I’ll be using it with a LP Special and if I can get it sounding half as good as the P90’s in your video I’ll be very happy.
I know Duane Allman played through the 50w 1987? bass head. I wonder if he ever tried one of these? What did Dickey use? The 100w Super Lead? Man the cleans from that thing sound INCREDIBLE! 👌
Duane played a 1986. The 50 watt version of the 1992 Superbass. Yes Dickey used Superleads. But both used other speakers besides Celestions. JBL or Cerwin Vega

The light crunch on the tele is the Orange tone I’ve always imagined it to sound like. I think the AD30 gets close. I’d like to see an OR50 mkII with an FAC control to tighten the low end.
