I can def see the Bauhaus influence in this. Listen to Double Dare and MASK by Bauhaus and you'll get it......Fischer admitted Bauhaus were a major influence.
Good old Celtic Frost. I saw their video from around 2006, I guess, and it was shit. The whole Monotheist album was terrible. They should reunite again, record something in their old style and go on tour. Sadly, I think this won't happen.
...furthermore, the phrase 'power metal' was first used by Venom, don't think any one would label them as such nowadays. But at the end of the day why does it even matter a fuck? Music is either good or bad, it doesn't need labels. And Celtic Frost were most definitely good!
Just stumbled upon this reply my excitable friend. I'm 42 years old, I *was* one of those old fans that were around at the time. Genres were very wishy washy in those formative years of extreme metal, the first time I recall the term 'death metal' was for a compilation album featuring Helloween & Running Wild! Most of the magazines used to just throw the term thrash at anything that was outside of the box. I honestly don't recall death metal being a widely used term until the late 80s.
i love the metal "elitists". their top arguments are always genre oriented. they always want to be "more metal" wtf does it matter? most of you probably weren't around when metal emerged and get your knowledge via metal archives and youtube. most of you probably never leave your houses to see a live show. piss off.
Black Metal seems like a silly term to use aside from Venom. I mean, Slayer was very Satanic-themed, fast, and had the Demonic sound much more akin to Venom and early Black Metal like Bathory, yet they are considered Thrash? I dunno, it seems that good metal is just good metal, whether it is slow and bluesy like Black Sabbath or fast metal.
