Norwegian and Haugesund local here, "All tømming forbudt" means "all dumping forbidden" - as in people dumping yard trimmings, garbage, furniture, old appliances etc. it's a bit of an issue in dead end streets, or other places that are a bit off the beaten track. Some people just insist on being lazy instead of taking it to the proper recycling stations I guess. Aside from that, glad you liked the city, it's always fun to see the perspective of cruise tourists visiting here. It's old news in most of those destinations in Norway, but Haugesund's only been a cruise stop for the past 4-5 years, so it's been a learning experience for us, we like the hustle and bustle whenever a cruise ship is in town though! :D

Thank you for the comments and for your help with the translation. I was kinda close, or maybe not…LOL! I'm assuming you have been to that beach area? It was a nice place to hang out. We loved the port and the ability to walk everywhere, a very clean town but wished there were more local flavors of food and drink. Of course we were also there on a Sunday so that may have added to the situation. Have you been to any other Norwegian port towns? We will be visiting the following ports below. We are open to any ideas of what to do if you like to share. In addition to seeing the historical sites we really like trying local foods, drinks and talking with locals. On our next cruise journey we will be in Stavanger, Tromso, Alta, Honningsvag, Gravdal, Trondheim, Andalsnes, and Olden (on our last visit here we were on a water shuttle and they brought us into the to Leon port and not the town of Olden).

I have to pick deck 1 or 2 for a concert tour type cruise. What are your thoughts on deck 2???
@hubbardsjourney
@hubbardsjourney День назад
Are you in the concert or going as a passenger? If it were us we would probably go for deck 2, and if you have a choice go for oceanview or porthole if you can get it. If you don’t have a choice of cabin type an inside cabin is our usual goto because it is always less expensive. Deck 2 is an easier walk for us to deck 3, 4 & 5. We don't typically use elevators. We hope you have a great time! Thank you for your question and coming along on our journey around the world.

At 15:20, I think you've hit on one of the great things about sailing with Cunard--and that's the egalitarian luxury. Yes, the Grill passengers are definitely a higher class of service, but their restricted venues on the ship are actually very few. They have their specialty dining rooms and one reserved cocktail lounge (or bar, if you prefer), plus one small sun deck at the rear of the ship. Otherwise, every other venue on the ship is accessible to every passenger. For us more common folks, it lets us experience a bit of pampering for a week without remortgaging the house.

You are going to have a blast! I can say for its age it’s ok! The public areas i.e bars, restaurants, theater were all great. The food, shows, bars etc. were all good! However, our inside cabin was kinda like a dungeon. The lighting was fluorescent with a yellowish brightness. Good thing we don’t usually spend a lot of time in the cabin. We are going to do a review on our cabin within the next week, check it out.

We were "a little late to the party" on purchasing something before our trip as well. Too be honest we weren't sure if we wanted to dress up or not. But a quick search on Amazon revealed lots of options that weren't very expensive. We opted to pick something that coordinated with outfits we would be wearing again. Have fun with it and you can't go wrong. If you decide not to purchase ahead of time the shop on the ship did have a few things to offer for the last minute shopper. as well. @hubbardsjourney 18 дней назад
We love being at sea, we love all the on ship activities etc. It gives us the opportunity to relax and do some detailed planning of ports of call. When we go to a port everyday it's exhausting. We are currently on a 60 day northern europe cruise and we hit a port pretty much everyday and it's exhausting, no time to relax it’s a constant go go go! We find ourselves trying to see everything we can while in port and plan the next day at the same time. After a week of this we are begging for sea days.
