This reeks of a script that was recorded before more info came out about the DLC. For example we know for a fact the reason the DLC turned out as it was for a variety of reasons, mostly being Take Two's fault: - Take Two downsized Gearbox Publishing - Take Two downsized the Risk of Rain development team - Take Two pushed up the release window much sooner than initially expected - The Risk of Rain development team working on Seekers of The Storm AND the code revamp was smaller than the Risk of Rain development team working on Survivors of The Void - Most of the code that bricked the game was placeholder code that wasn't able to be replaced in time - Hopoo has no confidence in Risk of Rain as they have completely abandoned ship

Honestly, as much as I would like to say *"Told you so..."* to the people who believed in Gearbox despite the suspicion, the truth is nobody wins here. The series I remember fondly since 2013 is likely gonna just get worse and worse, all outside of the original creator's control and they can only watch it suffer. And to that one guy who was pissy at my negative review of RoR2 just *DAYS* before Seekers of the Storm came out. (He was mad I was against Gearbox for making a RoR gacha game) Told you so...

This is why I completely forgot about the game the moment it got sold.

Idk man, theres ways to get the dlc without supporting their still broken and badly balanced mess, refund if you can. Gearbox put the wrong people on the project while the real big coders are on BL4 while these guys that are working with the wrong engine to their specialty also make basic coder errors. Shit doesn't deserve even a million dollars. People joke the interns did it, at some points i considered that not a joke...especially code that wont even compile or the ai generated seeming lores that use the improper or multiple flairs of setup. Also it autobuyed for millions, doesn't matter how shit it was, they are celebrating it while a very few wants to 'hold them accountable'.

Things worth noting: A partial and big reason hopoo gave over the franchisee to gearbox is because they had nothing else, they didn't wanna work on it and they didn't have anything else to add, they said they but everything they wanted and could think of into sotv and didn't want the franchise to die out like that Valve did NOT buy out hopoo, hopoo was closed independently and by themselves because they all decided to move on and happened that most of them were hired by valve In general there is a lot of good ideas and concepts to be had but I personally belive the devs got screwed over by take2 which bought out gearbox, it's deadly clear that the dlc wasn't ready and they themselves didn't wanna release it but were forced to. There's a lot of rumors and things also pointing that the current Dev team for risk is SMALLER then hopoo and at the same time required to develop the game for 4 different platforms themselves simultaneously. I genuinely feel so terrible for the developers because this must be so extremely difficult for them and I can't imagine the hell they're going through especially with the lack of empathy from a lot of people. Wether gearbox and or take2 care, it's clear that the devs do

Risk of rain 2 was a day one buy for me. Loved the IP, loved the music. I will henceforth be waiting for reviews and first impressions before I buy. Thanks gearbox

Almost done with collecting everything. This game is so awesome and it's one of my most anticipated games for 2025, next to the new monster hunter game.

What’s the point of really high skill ceiling combat when barely anyone who buys the game interacts with it? This is coming from someone who has 400 hours on dmc5 and loves the game and considers the gameplay to be the greatest of all time in any single player action game, it does nothing to motivate players to get better. Me and my friends talk about ways to improve the games we love, we’ve always harped on dmc5 having a low player count and how being good at it or mastering it is niche, there should be motivation to get better at the game other than simply “the combat is good and that’s the motivation” that’s clearly not enough for the overwhelming majority according to the player count. Why does the game have no good rewards for completing the harder difficulties? the Yamato for Dante after beating DMD would be a great motivation to replay the game, and there’s also the obvious cosmetics the game could’ve added similar to dmc3, like why is there no unlockable dmc1 Dante outfit or dmc4 Nero outfit. The game should also have had a must style mode where you only do damage at SSS rank. Multiplayer would’ve also been a great way to add replay value and motivation to get better at the game. All the things I’ve mentioned have been added through mods of course, but they’re such easy and obvious additions to add that I feel it should’ve been in the base game.

Do you know of the games ZeroRanger and Void Stranger? I think both are very well done, with incredible music and challenging gameplay. ZeroRanger has become one of my favorite shmups of all time and though I’m not that far in Void Stranger, it’s very challenging and I’d say one of the most important games of 2023.

Video games are such a different beast these days. The industry definitely has it's fair share of fuckery that also exists within a lot of the AAA big-boy dev studios. Then you got the entire journalistic madness surrounding it, and on RU-vid if you were to just browse through some gaming videos you could simply read the titles and assume gaming is irretrievably fucked. It's all just kind of a clusterfuck and since we are all plugged in with the internet all the talk sways people even if some of them haven't had a chance to form their own opinions yet. I feel like I could go on and on but it's not exactly big news to anyone I'm sure. But, all that said, there's a lot of great games being made by devs of all sizes. AAA, AA, indie, one guy in a shack in the middle of nowhere, etc. Even some franchises that get rinsed by the critics/journalists routinely with each new release can put out some really fun games when played with an open mind free from the deluge of 'authority' voices declaring whatever many lack of merits a particular game might have. I guess I'm of the mind that it can just be extremely beneficial to sort of disconnect from all the discourse online, or most especially the sort all over RU-vid that post content consistently that always leans into some negative slant. Also, it can help to simply take a break from videos games for a bit, too lol. Unplug for maybe a week if possible and maybe upon returning it'll be possible to scroll past whatever new controversial game without feeling vitriol or anything other than indifference. Your point about playing something from a different publisher is SO backwards. Usually game devs, whether they work on AAA, AA or indie games pursue a career in their field because they have passion for it. The vast majority of devs want to make good games. It's publishers who ruin the party. They have power over distribution which means they decide on the deadline. Games ship in an unfinished state because the publisher wanted to release at that point in time and didn't care about the game as art. They also handle the marketing, overhyping the shit out of upcoming titles to get their stock prices up and setting unrealistic expectations in the process. They want to please shareholders by generating the most revenue, so they push for microtransactions, season passes and all that bullshit. Publishers ruin games, not devs. They are the villains and devs are the victims, not the other way around.

Yeah of course they've changed... they got worse. Thats why games dont feel the same anymore, modern games suck. All these companies that literally started as passion projects are being ran as huge corporations which means they need to make a lot of money, and make shareholders happy-- for more money. That authenticity and passion is the exact reason why Elden Ring, Baldurs Gate 3, Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA 5, Resident Evil 1-8, Final Fantasy, etc. did so well in the modern gaming era(yes I know GTA 5 is old, its still played tho). People want a fleshed-out experience that feels like it was made with love. People dont care if theres a little jank as long as the game is good. Also, it really doesnt help when games are being made or directed by non-gamers, Ubisoft being my primary case-in-point. Most people have probably heard a quote along these lines but, nerdy spaces have been hijacked by the same people that made fun of nerds growing up. Video games as a medium have become so profitable that this was inevitable.

i disagree with some of your points but this is such a non issue when you really think about it. Unless you have been playing videogames since the 80s, there is hundreds of old games you have missed out on. I personally started playing videogames in 2015 and I'm still playing games from the ps3 and ps2 generation. but no people just wanna play what released last week...

I started gaming with the NES back in 1997 - I can certainly say games HAVE changed. So have my views, the intensity at which I play and my addiction levels. I agree that a lot of triple A games aren't as good as I feel they should be for the money they cost, but we do have some golden games lately - like Elden Ring and Baldur's Gate 3. There's always a positive to anything! Games nowadays are ABSOLUTELY beautiful. Not to mention, since they got so much more popular and aren't just for the OG nerds, their accessibility has also increased. 20 years ago, you'd struggle to find a game designed for or even played by women. Now it's very 50/50. And everyone games - adults, kids, even maybe your grandparents! Humans have a tendency to view the past through rose tinted glasses. Not all of the games of the past were even half as good as we remember - it just feels like that cause of nostalgia and the memories of youth. We like how games used to make us feel. Also, on informative videos like this, I'd really recommend using timestamps with description for the segments - I dunno, it just feels easier to digest that way!
