“Tag sale” is very New England. When I moved from CT to the West Coast, no one knew what I meant when I said I wanted to spend the day going to tag sales! Thank you for sharing the information about this technology.

@StevenWasher

No. It's just a fascinating insight into how you tick. And how you tick leads to how you make videos, or it can, though most just imitate others. There's no cost to it. This one gives you dozens of insights into how you as a unique individual could be making videos. But if it puts you off, then that's just part of your uniqueness, too!

Personally, I find youtube videos with music, while someone is talking/explaining etc very very annoying. I just listened to a 'how to start making RU-vid videos' video...and the person was insisting how important music was (whilst being a sponsor for that company). I got 2 minutes in and stopped.....due to the music. So....that's my answer.

Be careful with those cheaper devices, I have purchased several, most work... at first. Some don't have the resolution they promise, others overheated, and at least 2 just died after about 6 months. Not to say that the CamLink can't have issues, but I own two of the ones shown, and one of the larger units, and none of them have failed.

My God you even sound terrible and unnatural yourself. It's the dreaded Boomer Voice. Ugh. The problem is you older folks sound like a radio announcer or a news broadcaster. Here is a tip...watch how much more real and natural a legit youtuber sounds compared to this. Nobody talks like this in real life. Its horribly transparent and painful for younger viewers to watch. I've dubbed it "the boomer voice" awful. For you actual boomers...think about how in your mind...terrible that awful 1920s radio voice was. That is how unnatural and awful you sound to non boomers.

The human brain's frontal lobes' connections with the rest of the brain aren't fully formed and mature until our mid-twenties Steve. This means that our personalities aren't really 'set' until then. Even so, our capacity to learn and change enables us to gain more insight about ourselves throughout our lives. Remarkable! Thanks for your valuable insights.

Hey Steven! thanks for your videos. If the green screen is bigger, on needs more light and also it there more spill that can happen and bounce back?
@StevenWasher
@StevenWasher 2 месяца назад
I don’t think so. Spill is a function of proximity and intensity. You can only be in one spot at a time. You just want the light as even as possible, then balance exposure of subject and background.

Hey Steve! How come i keep getting fuzzies on my hair and ears and how do I get rid of this?
@StevenWasher
@StevenWasher 2 месяца назад
It could be a number of things. Usually it's because of reflection off the green screen caused by being a little too close. It could be compounded by other factors including the camera, focus, codec, color space, lighting intensity, modeling, the background contrast, and keyer settings. But if everything was done fairly precisely and you have a good keyer, you might try either degrading edges, adding fill or adding to the edges with about 6 points of interior portions of the image. Also make the background the same luminance as the subject. That can hide a multitude of sins. Good luck!

I think you'll enjoy the heck out of using it. It's amazing how much room you can reclaim and how much less cluttered the room is while still letting you produce the magic! I bought my SUBR2 Green screen shortly after they came out, after I had a long talk with Richard at SUB2R and so glad I did! I have a tiny room for video streaming. Before this came along, I had to shoot green screen in our 2 car garage and then, either leave the cars out to the elements or strike it every day... this was a game changer for me. the rounded corners do limit the effective green screen background, so I usually have to do some masking. I'm hoping they can come out with a true 16:9 internally lit screen that's a little bigger. BTW, Steven doesn't mention that the entire screen folds up and sets up in minutes - and comes with a great carry case.

“Getting away” with “only 2 soft boxes…” isn’t the point. None of us who really enjoys and wants to improve what our viewers see doesn’t aim to only “get away with only 2 soft boxes.” We’d like to reclaim as much square footage as possible and ALSO create a great product.

@@jaybcreightonActually, it is. There is no reason to overinvest. I can prove you very good keying for RU-vid with just two softboxes and DaVinci Resolve Studio. Why on Earth shall I invest in new equipment when the existing does the job very well? Shall I get myself in a commercial project that requests higher resolutions and quality, I will gladly use the credit card and buy all that will be necessary.

@StevenWasher

Thank you! So kind. Yes, you can add more of each. Of course the main idea is to end the "arms race" of more light hitting the screen, necessitating more light hitting you, and round and round you go. I cut the light back deliberately to show how little you could get away with. But a little more on the subject couldn't hurt.
