WOW Man, I am starting to understand, and more importantly hearing the compression. BUT ha ha, I have a compressor with PEAK to one side and RMS to the other? Can you explain that and/or do you have a vid on peak vs rms. Thanks for the GREAT explan my friend.
Insane how the included stem tool isn't being talked enough about. I've been using the splitter to basically create my virtual band. As a guitarist this is so much fun instead of fighting to find stems of songs. In 2 minutes the band is good go and everyone is ready to play. The only downside is that the guitar falls in "others" and so when I mute the guitars - I often find myself removing other great sounds... Great video - Love your style and especially "all music is distortion" 😊
The perfect compression is whatever you feel is right. Compressors aren't just for taming and exaggerating transients. They're a flavor tool, like hot sauce or ranch. Nobody can tell you how much hot sauce or ranch is right for your nachos or how to pour it on, just drench that shit however you want.
Hey Will great video. Thanks for posting. Could you talking about the axis that your tweeters are on. Are they on axis with your listening zone or off? Just curious because I saw another review that mentioned that the manufacturer suggest the speakers be setup off axis.
Hi there, what is the advantage to horizontal positioning with the woofer on the outside? I've been placing mine with the traditional mid/tweeter on the outside. Also, what mini stands are you using between the speakers and the speaker stands and what advantage?
i prefer the analog because in the quieter sections the top end sounds more "open". in the more packed sections i honestly couldnt discern much of a difference than maybe slight eq adjustments.
You know whats even easier? Just Master on a laptop without all the pain in the butt hoops you have to jump through to use audio on an iPad. Logic 2 on iPad was what made me realize the iPad Pro was a complete waste of money. The operating system is never going anywhere useful. An expensive device to watch videos on. Do some slightly janky web browsing on. I sold my M1 Pro and bought an M2 Macbook Air. Add an inexpensive 2 channel audio interface. They all work. Not just the ones iPad OS chooses to recognize. Perfect for mobile audio projects. Nice work though Will. Mix did sound great when you were done.
Hi, I just discovered your channel. I really like the way you explain things and how you also edit the videos. I dont know what it is that you are doing differently, but I think its one of the best channels I found for music tech etc.
Working on my album Zero Self-Esteem, if I could find an all-star master to help me that would be epic. Otherwise I'm trying to do all the work myself.
I always thought of converters as removing information. This is so helpful to see (and hear) what they are adding. Even on my air-pods over RU-vid I heard some sheen and depth added and I wondered if it was my imagination... then you did the null test and it confirmed this is real. Thank you so much for doing this.
Wouldn't using the saturation in M/S add more saturation to the center than the sides, since the center is louder? Or, are you only engaging the processing on the sides? I'm really interested in this technique.
