Absolutely love this Deanna! Thank you so much for sharing this. I need to get the right color pastel paper to try this. Unfortunately I bought dark paper. All a learning process for me. Beautiful!
Thanks Sandy! You should be able to still use your darker paper if it's the Pastelmat since you can layer the pastels so easily & get full coverage. I've used dark colors for sunset colors before & it worked fine. I'm always learning too!!!!!
Absolutely beautiful Deanna! Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us and helping us learn how to use Pan Pastels. I've just ordered a starter Pan Pastel kit and your videos are teaching me how to use them to make backgrounds.
Debbie, I'm really glad you liked it! Thanks for the request!!!! I had a lot of fun doing this one. Please feel free to make suggestions for future videos!

Super cool scene! That sky! ❤ I did a panpastel background on pastel matte paper ... when I printed it out, it came out pretty light in color compared to the original. I had also sprayed the original with fixatiff before I copied. That turned the pastel much darker. Between light & darkness ( media, spray) & wanting to print out I'm a little confused on which way to go with heaviness on color with originals. Hope this makes sense.
I'm glad you like it! I RARELY ever spray any of my PanPastels with any fixative. I don't like how the ones I've tried change the way it looks. If I am going to give away the original I will spray with something though, usually Workable Fixatiff. My printed ones always come out different than the originals, but for me, mine tend to come out darker, not lighter. I would rather them print lighter since I would easily be able to darken any areas I want with my inks. I haven't tried to mess with any settings but I need to. I'm guessing a lot has to do with our printers. I tried having some printed at a local shop & they came out HORRIBLE so that's why I started printing my own. I have been making my PanPastel backgrounds lighter than I normally would lately because of how they print out darker for me. Anyway, keep in mind that spraying will change it, so you may want to print BEFORE using a fixative. And for how they print out, I'm just experimenting as I go. Not sure that helps.
Thanks Deanna! I think alot has to do with the printer & settings. My son said an ink jet laser printer ( more expensive than I have) would be the way to go. Anyway, for now I will use what I have. I did not like how the fixative changed the color, so I dont think I'll be spraying anymore. Thanks so much for getting back to me & the video!
Thanks so much! I've been asking people about video length & most responses were for shorter videos, so that's why I've been doing Parts. But now you have me thinking to do both short & longer videos. Thanks for the feedback!
I'm so glad you like the videos! Yeah, if I don't start with the white, I'll end up losing my center glow. For some reason I have to FORCE myself not to extend too far in with the blues. Thank you so much for watching!
Lol -your comment on not wanting your videos to go on for hours at a time. One of my vids years ago was 2.5 hours long and it occurred to me that it was the same length as The Lord of the Rings movie! lol.
I absolutely love this technique! when you started the last one I thought, Oh, this is gonna be one hot mess. You really shocked me... it's absolutely gorgeous. Have you ever tried this technique with chalks??
You are absolutely amazing to watch! The first time I saw these stamps, Were at stamp fest about a month ago. They are so beautiful, I wanted to buy 90% of them period LOL. I love watching you work. I hope to see a lot more of you in the future.
New subscriber here, although I’ve admired your work for some time on the Blue Knight Rubber Stamps fan page. I was recently gifted some Pan Pastels & look forward to trying some of your techniques when my shoulder heals from my recent surgery. Thanks for sharing. I found watching you create relaxing. 😊❤️
Thank you so much for your encouraging comments & for subscribing ! I am considering making more videos, it just takes time & all I have to record with is my phone, so time & overheating limits me. But I may still go ahead & do some more. I can so relate to shoulder problems. I finally had a total shoulder replacement & after 3 years, I can finally do things without so much pain. I pray you get good healing & relief from your surgery. Big hugs!!!!
I had a reverse total shoulder replacement. It’s been 2 months. I’m still in physical therapy. I hope it’s not 3 years! I can do a good number of things, but it feels so awkward!
@@ThankfulNanaDiane Shoulder problems are the WORST! I had 2 failed rotator cuff surgeries, then the replacement, so that's why I had problems for so long. Because of all the damage, it took about 9 months post replacement surgery to finally start getting some relief & range of motion. I was to the point I was trying to accept that I would never be able to use my shoulder again without pain. I even had to stop PT, as it was causing more problems than it was helping. I had been through so much PT in the past that I just rehabbed at home at my own pace, with the approval of my surgeon. It does feel awkward, doesn't it? Mine still feels weird. But I prefer the weirdness over the pain & not being able to function. There are minor limits but they don't really bother me (like not being able to reach behind my back). Be patient, allow yourself time to heal & to learn how to use that shoulder in a different way. It isn't going to feel "normal" but it gets so much better!!!!!! Prayers for quick recovery!!!!!!! I'm curious, how many grandkids do you have?
Wow! You have been through the wringer! I’m so sorry! My problems started in March with a broken arm/shoulder from a fall. I’m diabetic, so when it finally healed, it healed wrong. We’re expecting our 12th grandchild in March, & we have 3 bonus ones in heaven (miscarriages). They actually call me Nana, but RU-vid won’t let you change it. They’re letting you change your “handle,” but I don’t know when that’s supposed to start. 🤷♀️
@@ThankfulNanaDiane You have been through it too. No one with a shoulder replacement has had it easy, right? Lots of grandkids! I have one. Not expecting any more any time soon. I already have my "handle", but I didn't know you tube won't let you change your name.
The bird pooping on your picture was actually a bird thing, he was actually saying he really liked it, if you didnt know that's how birds compliment stuff, they poop on it,lol.
For me, the heavier the card stock I am using, the better, especially if I am using a lot of ink layers. I get mine from The Paper Mill or Marcos Paper online.
Looking good, patience seems to be the word needed here. I was mesmerized watching you do this. Your masks appear to hold quite nicely, what are you using please? Thank you for the video. Really neat.
Love how you made the planets. Can you tell me what kind of cardstock you used? Do you recommend using this cardstock with your Stampscape stamps also? Where did you get the stylus to use?
Hi, Jean! I used Kromekote 12 Pt glossy paper, which is my favorite paper to use with my dye inks. I love to use my Stampscapes on anything. The stylus tool is no longer available. The company who made them went out of business. That's why I am trying to learn to use other ways of applying inks.
Instead of tossing the "pooped" card, maybe you could stamp a medium sized tree over that spot? (One that is taller than the fence.) I say this because that one is my favorite of the two scenes, so I would try to salvage it!! Thanks so much for sharing your instructions with us!
