@@alexzavala7529 from what I’ve read basic bolt ons like CAI, headers, ported TB & exhaust work. Mace cams too if you open the top end. Tune being the most important. Or boost it. I think overkill makes a kit for them as well
Excellent video very limited knowledge for the LFX engine. Currently I’m in the same boat doing my own research doing a turbo on the Camaro currently have e85 but still need to figure out the exhaust manifold and piping for the turbo. Just recently I came across a site that sells LFX flange elbows planning on cutting those and running them to the turbo and life a little easier. How did you do your exhaust?
@@ICYG69 Thankyou, yeah I found it kinda difficult to find an at home style build to find information from. I cut the original flanges off the stock exhaust & used 2 1/4” up beside the head on both sides then the big piece that can be seen on top with Vbands connecting it all together. Downpipe runs along the front of the motor down to the passenger side then cuts back between the motor mount & motor where the stock cats would sit then just goes to the back of the car. I’m not sure how much different the Camaro bay is, but if you are okay with a hood dump you can run your exhaust around the bottom side then Y up to like between the timing cover & Efans. I’m going to eventually switch the hotside up some to run under the car with a hood dump probably when I do the converter & have it all out to record it.
I have a Cadillac CTS with an LFX engine and I'm planning to install a turbocharger with 7 PSI of boost. Do I need to make any modifications, or can the stock engine handle this level of boost?
@@1414sami the engine should take that just fine. Most pro shops it seems they suggest going forged after around 5-550hp although some have made more but the longevity goes down.
Just to get out & do a run. They both still lost by the end. I was down to see how much I could let go & still reel back on a longer strip. We’ve already ran them in the 1/4 before.
They need to open up places like this airport run way outside of every town and city in a lot of places for people to just go and race instead of on the streets at night. It would solve a lot of problems and make a lot of people happy.
Yes, google it. It’s digression of the manager/operator. Small airports allow cars to run when closed with permission. Small towns they are the only ones selling real high octane fuel. Call your local small airport & ask for permission.
havent tried it yet myself but Schaeffler makes a reinforced OE timing chain kit with all the sprockets and hardware.. haven't tried myself yet buy I've heard good things about is vs the oem kit and i also plan on putting it in my Cadillac once she gets back from the body shop. keep up the good work dude liking the build💪
No I don’t unfortunately. When I get a stall later this year I will be pulling it all out & recording that also. Should give a good idea with the engine on the stand & hotside together how it was done.
@@slowLFX it's a 2011 CTS sedan 3.0 I think the ECU needs to be releaned alone with new key and fob, that's when it started after I lost both and went messing with steering column, you know screwdriver thing.
yo, im modding a cts right now. i love what im seeing this a huge step. if i had some specific questions about internals or anything is there a platform i can reach out to you on? instagram or something?
How does the 6L50 hold up? The 3.6 loves boost but I'm always afraid of GM automatics. I can't even tell you how many 4L60E's I've blown up in my F-body days, enough that I got HPtuners and started doing T56 swaps.
Yeah I’ve had some experiences with 4l60s so I totally hear ya. It seems to be holding good. It has TM pulling timing leading up to shift & some other stuff. It doesn’t shift hard. Idk what the limits really are but I know of some builds that make more than mine but with a well built stall like circle D or from Tracey Lewis performance.
@@FredricksonZak yes it did & yes I’m in the middle of it now. Just waiting on the custom roller cup to come in to finish & put it back together. Also bypassing fuel pump control module & plumbing in a boost ref regulator
@@FredricksonZak no not yet it’ll probably be about 2 weeks or so until I can get it back out to him. I will probably take some recording while tuning to post though
Try looking up parts for an 2016-2018 ATSV 3.6. They can be had on eBay or GM dealers online. I know that car never came to Australia but if you can get stuff from eBay from us you should be able to find something there. Or GMdirect.com
@@FredricksonZak I haven’t yet, it ended up being PWM fuel pump control in the ECU that was my issue. Using ZL1 pump intank. It’s probably not to far off from needing a cam with bigger lobes or LF4 HPFP pump which I will probably do first since it’s way cheaper/easier but eventually yeah it would need the cams from ZZP or tap out tuning
@duhstract the zl1 should get you to 550-600 on pump I'd say. I've got one in my ve ss (G8) over in the states. The main problem I've seen with all my mates boosting these are the big end bearings starve of oil and bang..
Don’t listen to every one saying buy a v8, you’ve built it already so have fun and keep posting! Exited to see more just picked up a 2012 Cadillac cts4 coupe premium with the lfx 3.6. This is a mixed build yes?
Thankyou I appreciate it! Yes it is but you could make around 500ish on stock motor/injectors/cams with a supercharger or turbo & a bigger fuel pump in the tank. I wanna shoot big & I scored a good deal on the LF4 internals so I went this way with it. I’m getting the tune changed to speed density within a few days & should have some clips of 12+psi balls out soon
@@mmid8960price difference is about 20k. The mods I’ve done is like 2500 with building the motor. I do everything myself. Unfortunately that’s just not in the cards for quite awhile. I’ll have fun with this until I can upgrade one day. The car isn’t even fully tuned yet these are just progress clips.
Honestly I haven’t looked into the LLT heads any I just had an LFX already so that’s what I used. I’ll look into it if I change it up again though. I Would have to do a completely different hotside though.
