21:19 That's the face of experiencing a cliffhanger. Lucky me I read them in the summer of 2023 so I just went "Oh, hun, that's devastating... Welp, good thing I have the next one!"
Thank you for this lovely and caring discussion and analysis! This book is so special to me because of how it lays out the best metaphor for trauma and learning to live and grow with trauma that I’ve maybe ever seen in a novel, and it came at a time when I really needed it. I would watch immediately if you do someday film a video essay about the personification of trauma in Tartarus because I am so here for that discussion and could talk about it all day! Thank you for giving this book the thoughtful and understanding reflection it deserves
I could be wrong about this…but I’ve always thought that the reason adults go for young adult books is because they are written on a reading level that is more comfortable for them.
As a welsh girl this book series is genuinely one of my favourites! I didn’t expect the welsh language to be shown so much in the book and it made me so excited!
The seven is always the one thing i find interesting abiut this book series becahsd it shows how prophecys arent always reliable Like Yes we have the 7 demigods who are prophesied But Nico and Reyna have such large important roles in this group and everyone in fanbase agrees they both are deserving in a spot of the 7 demigods
So, even if I find Priory of the Orange Tree a more satisfying read, the characters of this books are way WAY BETTER. I cried a fuck ton with this book. Maybe the McGuffin comet conclusion is kinda mid, BUT I WAS SO EMOTIONAL THE WHOLE FINAL BATTLE, I felt the desperation of the characters, fightning fdr a slim chance in the sky, Such SUCH good book.
I burnt myself out on writing, which used to be a huge part of my life. It stopped being fun and started feeling burdensome and like it had to be marketable and say something important. Today, I wrote a short fanfic about Aziraphale and Crowley because I've been thinking about everyone's favorite ineffable husbands, and it was so much fun! Oscar Wilde was right, art shouldn't be taken so seriously.
I would recommand Lore&Lust it is kinda more Magical Realismus and not Romance it is a Queer Vampirer Story and it is I think still from an Indie Author/Publisher and it is really really cute, but the most of the Romance Plot is only or mostly in the first book in the other ones it is more Magical Realismus and Mystery and so... And when I am correct the Author is a Black Author also.
Once Upon a Broken Heart is original after the Driologie Caravel so most of the World Bulding and so on are in Caravel and not in Once Upon a Broken Heart.
I love that people have such different tastes in how they organise, stack and display books! That said, however much I respect that you enjoy showing off your favourite cover-art/titles, facing them to the front, it grates at my soul to have books cover the titles of other books. It's like double-shelving to my brain😅 The fact that this is your library and it's you who sorted it, means you know where everything is, but I myslef would be so lost and NEVER know where things are😅😅
"All of us are villains" and "All of our demise"...why is this dilogy so underrated? It's one of the best enemies to lovers I have ever read (in particular in the second book)
Bless you for making it that far into the organizing journey in your sweater <3 As a person with 3000+ books in her home library, I am EXTREMELY overdue for a declutter/reorganization LOL (and once again - DAMN the UK hardcover game vs the US hardcover game)
I always think it's funny that a lot of people think that Harrow the Ninth is the most polarising book in the series due to the second person writing. For me it got better with each reread until I now can't imagine it any other way. Nona on the other hand is probably my least favourite of the three. I just couldn't vibe with her as a character. She's fine, but the naivety gets olds really quick and it's frustrating to get glimpses of the bigger story through her eyes only to have it breakdown due to whatever distraction / lack of comprehension gets in Nona's way. It's only when she's almost dying and getting closer to reverting back to Alecto that she really starts getting interesting as a character and not just a device. But I'm just shouting random rants into the void really
Just finished Our Share of Night--began reading the deceptively slim paperback and it took me about a month but I enjoyed every minute of it. Part of my current pattern of reading stories about ghosts with queer relationships, I can't get enough

I started rewatching Once Upon A Time, so im up for a video about this!
I guess six of crows bc of Nina and Matthias. Ther was history, there was true hate and it took time for them to actually start trusting each other let alone falling in love A lot of other book chatacters as in the cruel prince (which i loved) or kingdom of the wicked did not feel like actual enemies to me. There was just the absence of loving each other, a bit of disdain or maybe beeing rivals in certain aspects
