We have read your book brain save. I agree with the food list because that's what we've been eating. But it doesn't say anything about mushrooms? Are they bad for you?
You described exactly how I felt for the majority of my life, I also thought it was just "my personality" and there's nothing to do about it. It would have probably kept going on like that for the rest of my life had it not resulted (alongside with other factors) in a full blown psychosis for me which really made my eyes open and do a bunch of research and realize that gluten (alongside with dairy) was at the base of it. It's really astonishing to me that there is like 0 awareness about this topic and no one really warns you or tests you as a kid. I used to get sick like every two weeks as a kid, had a really bad immune system. And for me it is exactly this case of extraintestinal symptoms where I didn't have digestive issues or issues with thyroid and heart. It's really sad how many people suffer from this condition unknowingly(to a good part cause of the faulty tests too), get medication prescribed which only masks the symptoms and suffer for the rest of their (to a good degree shortened) life, with a much lower quality of life too. You should have also mentioned that the undigested parts of gluten bind to the opioid receptors in the brain, making the potential for addiction huge (probably why there is such a huge obesity issue in the USA). It's very sad, all of it... Thank you for your video, I wish you all the best
I'm not tired of the same old same ole but my right shoulder pops out of place several times day. I'm in chronic pain constantly. I can't do ANYTHING without it popping out so I'm here to train myself to learn to throw, eat, wipe my ass, and so on with my left hand. Edit: I can't afford to have it fixed. Training myself to use my left hand is my solution.
Thanks Dr Chiu! I will have to buy some good quality lavender oil. People need to be made aware of the hazards of benzodiazepines. Psychiatrists give them out and tell patients that they are totally safe. Take it for over 14 days? Not recommended. Take it for 30 days? You're addicted. Take it for almost 7 years? You have lost precious brain cells and are likely more anxious than you were before you started taking the drugs. Take it at age 65 or over? Possible dementia like changes in your ability to communicate, think and function. The psychiatrists should be held accountable for this part of our country's drug addiction and overdose deaths. How do I know? Personal experience. I am the process of slowly weaning off of Valium. It is not harmless and in many cases these drugs only help anxiety for a short period of time and require higher and higher doses to be effective. They are also highly psychologically addictive. Don't mess up your brain, stay away from the benzodiazepines!
I never knew how painful it would be for both my brain and my left arm (finger muscles and forearm) to write with my left. My arm doesn’t feel real anymore, but burns like crazy, and I only wrote 3 sentences 😭
I am so glad you came up on my YT feed. After 7 years of ataxia, peripheral neuropathy and scleritis (but negative for celiac) and seeing professors of neurology and rhuematology, through trial and error I have, over the last 12 months discovered that I have non celiac gluten sensitivity. I am seeing a gastroenterologist who is referring me to Sheffield Hallam Hospital in the UK which specialises in Gluten ataxia. A year ago I had planned my funeral. Now I feel like a 21 year old (I am 62!). Watching your video, a neurologist with gluten sensitivity, who has also had concussion is incredible. At least you really understand what I and many others are going through. Thank you. 🙏
I work in a kitchen, about a month ago, I started using my chefs knife left handed. Now I instinctively grab the knife with the left hand without realizing it right away. My knife left handed knife skills are almost on par with my right hand, but still feels a little awkward at times.

I started learning sign language with my non dominant hand as a personal experiment kinda and it's blossomed into me slowly doing other things with it and every time i practice something using my "weaker" hand....my brain feels like how mybody does after a run: tired but worth it
Have you experimented between curcumin and turmeric? I understand that curcumin is more concentrated, but there might be benefits from taking the whole plant (turmeric).
Great question. I find that turmeric and using the spice is great for maintenance and wellness after recovery but that the higher dosage available in supplement form with the isolated curcuminoid compounds to be more effective during the recovery phase.
Just love your presentation of neurology …. And especially your use of song Ain’t nobody got time for that!! Excellent!! Btw, I barely passed my required Neurology lab class. I got a D but passed. phew!! I was a medical illustrator and my professor whom was a neurosurgeon said no worries it’s not like you are going to be doing brain surgery. That was in the 80s when the theory was you only have so many brain cells until they are all used up and gone.
Informative video, new subscriber. I find this so interesting because I'm trying to figure out if my nightly cereal habit is contributing to my lifelong battle with treatment resistant depression. My favorite snack is actually whole grain cereal. I do believe oatmeal is pretty much gluten free so that's instead the route I need to go. I'm soooo tired of the deep depression coupled with brain fog etc.
Glad you found value! Yeah many times it’s the little things we do everyday that can create health or disease. Let me know how it goes! 🤞🏾 PRO-TIP: be sure to get certified gluten-free oatmeal as there can be cross-contamination.
As an asian we use to eat wheat 3 time a day. Some time i cut off wheat tortilla . This month i useed it again my abdomen was swelling, i feel headache everyday. Yesterday it was so intense due to gastric issue i skipped wheat. Its true that whenever i use wheat my head notifying me you are on wrong direction.
