Wonder what it's like to live, work and travel around the country in an RV?
We’re Mike & Ashley - two Wisconsinites who decided to make everyday an adventure by living full time in an RV and traveling the country.
This vlog was created as sort of a scrapbook to look back on our crazy adventures and to share our journey with family and friends as we traveled. Our hope for this channel is to share the high and low realities of RV life, and to inspire YOU to be adventurous, take risks, and live your life on your own terms.
We began in May 2021 in a Geo Pro 19fd, and now we're traveling/living in our 2022 Keystone Arcadia 3250rl fifth wheel. We’re digital nomads and work “normal” 9-5 corporate jobs. We side hustle as owners/investors/property managers of our house in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
07:06 - Wow, you got my favorite spot Calvin at Base Camp Zero. Must see. You need to watch the IFT-5 launch from Raptor Roost, it is the closest you can get to see it.
You better put plastic things down they hold the support of the weight and you need to have plastic things down that are thick plastic or thick rubber. That’ll help with the balance.
We just winterized for the first time when we went to Mexico in January. I didn't want to run antifreeze through all the lines so I just used my little 2 gallon air compressor from harbor freight and an air compressor attachment for the city water line and blew the lines out with air. I think we went one-by-one opening up all faucets (hot and cold side) until only air came out, then opened the low point drain under the camper, closed all the faucets and blew out any remaining water. We then only needed a gallon of RV antifreeze to pour some into each drain so the p-traps didn't freeze, I think we might have also poured a gallon into the black tank for good measure. This was our first time doing this and it maybe took 20 mins, we left our camper somewhere in Iowa after that and it was during that deep freeze where temps got to around 20-30f below zero at night. We picked it back up at the end of January and no issues, been good ever since!
My opinion always buy a few years older a lot cheaper and the previous owner has already fixed everything that’s is very true I haven’t stalked to anybody who has every bought new and was pleased all had issues and especially if you’re out deep boondocking not a very good pleasant experience out in the middle of nowhere with bad things happening
May I ask what type of camera and setup you use inside your truck? It looks at times you are not holding the camera but able to record both you and your husband
No green head flies and mosquitoes at Assateague ? … when we went we got chased to our cars .. couldn’t take it. We get them in South Jersey too if the wind is coming out of the west .
You did a great job at keeping a cool head, but please stop using the word "unthaw" 😉. The word is "thaw"- unless of course you were freezing something.
I’m curious about your trailer tires “trailer kings” I realize you have had a few problems with them . How many miles do you think you have on them? I have a 2022 Keystone Cougar 290RLS I am going to start traveling more since retiring I have the same tires, must be a Keystone thing. I have experienced a tire issue last fall going to Florida. I enjoy your content, I like you have done tons of research 2 years of research on full time travel. I carry a small work shop with me JUST incase LOL. Maybe we will cross paths someday, look for the “Wondering Nomad” stay safe and great travels ✌️
The trailer kings are awful and we quickly replaced them with Goodyear endurance which we’ve had no issues with 🙏🏼 We appreciate your kind words and hope to see you down the road!
Hey Ash, I thought you handled that whole situation like a champ. You fix the cause and clean up. Nothing to it. I did have one question we are thinking of going to Texas for the winter, (florida was very full) but not looking forward to the cold. Was your video recoded during that cold snap in January? We are in Alabama for that week and it was cold everywhere. I don't want to judge a state for one freak week. Thanks
I appreciate that a ton! 🫶🏼 We’ve spent three winters in Texas and the weather varies like crazy! Of course it’ll depend on where you go. I think if you’re willing to ride it out, TX is an amazing place to winter
Def handled it like a boss! I have heard from other RVers that disconnecting your lines might have helped prevent some of the freezing overnight and then you can "just" reconnect things when the temps come back up. Now that said might not be the right move but it is another option. Cold weather RVing doesn't sound like the best of times. :)
Ugh we all feel for ya and that dog food dust might be worse than the water lol....we all have these "lessons learned" chalk it up to that and move on is all you can do 👍
Great job handling the issues. We like to keep some water in our fresh tank and disconnect during the cold. This also works even in warmer weather if the campground water goes out, then you’re still covered.
Not sure if you knew this but at 3:56 you have a shot of a barge on the bay, that's actually a shipment of items coming all the way from Cape Canaveral in Florida to SpaceX's facilities in Texas. Those tanks on the left are cryogenic fluid tanks that SpaceX have installed to help fuel the rocket, and what's even cooler is that the large construction to the right of those is a section for their next launch tower that's being built there!
We were there for the first launch. When we visited Boca Chica it was totally different from what you got to see. There was a young lady there, standing in the rain with me on her birthday! I told her when this thing fires off, EVERYTHING changes.... and it did. I got a better view of the launch on line, but you can't FEEL a launch on a laptop. That's what I was there for... I wanted to feel it! I was not disappointed!
Thanks for the video of the booster static fire, from a space nerd who also RV's. Hope to be down there this year from CT, for a launch. I usually fly down but need to stretch the my Georgetown's legs this year.
Im so happy yall visited terry blacks. Me and my husband have been in iowa for the last 6 months for his current job. we made a trip back home and spent close to $160 because we missed texas food so much 🤣
We have a house in Mantowish Waters for our us and our friends. It is a grand place. Boating on the lakes and hiking/biking in the woods. Beautiful and wonderful…
about 15 miles ffrom paradise, the edumund fitzgerald sank, on the canadain side of lake superior. nov. 11, 1975. gordon lightfoot wrote a song about it, called "the wreck of the edmund fitzgerald."
