I'm a flying fox (bat) rescuer and carer. I video a lot of my rescues with a head mounted camera. During baby bat season I take videos daily of the babies as they grow and learn and play, and do flappies and sniffies and head-bobs and press-ups. There will be some graphic footage of injuries on my channel. I usually issue a warning in both the title and the description. If it's particularly confronting I put a warning screen before the graphic footage. I put a lot of information in the descriptions now - perhaps for the last few months. For earlier videos I'm slowly going through them and adding more info to the description. I'm eclectic and I record what interests me at the time. Periodically I visit other wildlife carers and record what they do.
Didn’t know they’re actually supposed 2 spit out the pulp lol I thought the poor guy was gonna choke on his own greed😭😭 Always wondered why it takes them so long to chew/eat, I didn’t know they just suck the juices out HAHA Do they ever actually swallow the pulp or do they always spit it out??? :O
Some of them swallow some of the fruit (like when they're in care), however in the wild this is designed to keep them light for flying. They pulp the fruit, extract the essence and ditch the fibre so they're not weighed down in flight. If you think about it, given the incredible energy needs to fuel flight, the lighter you are, the more energy you can save from weight and put into propulsion. In care, they eat banana and mango; you can't form a spat with them because you can't separate out the juice and eject the pulp without losing half of the nutritional value. Banana has fat in it, so they just eat the pulp of the banana and poo it out half an hour later. Mango and pawpaw both are quite soft and harder for the bat to juice and to separate out the juice, so that goes through their gut as well. They have a very fast gut transit time, somewhere from 20 minutes to an hour.
Who puts barbed wire in a place like that?? I get it when it's placed somewhere around fields or pastures , but there? In the middle of a city?? Either put up a decent rail or none at all! It's a six meter drop from the edge, so if people actually would want to climb that, they absolutely will, barbed wire or not! Sorry , I know it's an old video but something like that just gets me angry. Poor little sweetheart... Thankfully the nice gentleman asked on how to improve and hopefully took your advise to heart.
LOL Iin a kind of non LOL way); this is to keep people OUT. There had been a lot of robberies in the apartment block via this route so they put up barbed wire; I don't kid myself that they would have removed it because one bat got stuck on it.
Seeing that little guy move around on his dead mom, so high up and close to the powerlines, I admit that my heart dropped in shock. Such a brave little soul, I hope he's still out there, making lots of little bat babies!
Anzac is too small to span the wires so he won't get electrocuted, though his mum was when she touched 2 wires, and Anzac has suffered some tangential burns during this, mostly superficial flash burns. He survived and was released.
@@PK-oy4fe Tree roos weren't on the top 10, so they'll get no funding. I think the while thing was a bit of a gimmick by the TV station; whoever, the outcome can be what it will be since Tree Roos aren't going to attack any funding
Cinders can’t get enough! They love it!!😂 so long as the moments after didn’t land horrendous, home popping with some finely ground salts may be cheap snackies for all! Who knew!
Gorgeous batties ,thank you for everything you do for the bats they need you ladies , absolutely wonderful service you all do thank you for all the hard work 💖....
Hi Megabattie, thank you for sharing these pics from the past. I loved the way Eiffel was sniffing your ear and play biting with you. It was amazing how he recognized you and used his "bat language" (that sounded like happy chirps) to see you. The other batties sure like their food! Lol. 🦇🦇🦇🦇💗😊🌸
@@Elly-fm3nx She had a rough time; her mum was electrocuted so she was in a bit of trouble when I first collected her. You should be able to see her videos by searching in the YT search bar for Megabattie/Eiffel
@@Megabattie Thank you for the information on your little battie buddy. I will check it out. It sounds like a great story! When I get caught up on an animal saving project (It's about 3am in the U.S.) I will appreciate it tomorrow for sure! I have a bad habit of trying to help animals at late hours! Lol. I don't doubt that because you've dedicated your life to saving bats you've lost some sleep as well! Lol 💗🦇🧸🍼😊
Well, i never thought enough about the world to include bats and i can see the error of my ways. I haven’t seen any bats in my area for years. I think that there are some little bats up in the mountains but none down here in Los Angeles. If there were bats that needed rescue, after watching you i think i would try and get certified in flying fox rescue and give it a go. They are incredible creatures really. Where i live just about everything is banned or made illegal so i know they would do their best to make it impossible. Thank God for you guys.
Thank you Meg & Maggie for the walk down baby Batty lane.🦇🩶🖤🤗💕💕 Your hairdo by Eiffel, Baldrick 's outie, baby Elliott who just lost his Mumbat😓🦇💕and the NOM-NOMS of enjoyment from Leo & Native Rose.🥰
Oh, sweet girl. I've seen others with terrible injuries, but I don't remember another in such dreadful physical condition. No more suffering for her; light as a dandelion puff, she's blown off into the wind.
Mmmmmmmm, what little darlings. 💖💕 Eiffel doing some whispering (in bat French?) in your ear. 3:36 Leo contentedly eating yoghurt, a foot clutching your finger... Native Rose is in a symphony of green sling, green grapes 💖💕🦇🇨🇦
Next time point out to Maggie that among the things not on her previous bucket list was not only dealing with baby battie excreta, but being observed doing so by more than a quarter of a million fans worldwide.
