@@PanhandleHopper Sounds like a great idea. We tried Old Orchard Beach area once and we enjoyed it quite a bit with the lighthouses and boardwalks. I'd enjoy seeing Maine videos.✌
if you ever go again to the tower rd. access point, just paddle down the road from the stop sign and the road will be above water. it floods quite often there.
I just came back from the trip. Oct 2022. I went with a tour group. And the only thing I did not like was the seating arrangement. You are very correct; when you have 4 adults sitting in the crown class (and we didn't know each other- my friend & I and a married couple facing us) it was VERY CRAMPED!! After 15 mins. I went into the open car thinking I could sit there. The weather that day was in the high 70's, but didn't realize you have to pay for those tkts also. So for the ride to Nanahala Adventure Center I basically stood the whole way. I did get something to eat in the Cafe car but the stools were to tall for my feet to reach, smh! And they did serve hot dogs there (I got 2), chips and a beer. So the cafe car is open now & i saw reserved box lunches, but the group i went with did not ask us if we wanted box lunches. Going back I sucked it up & sat in those cramped quarters- so uncomfortable!! I would like to do this trip again, but I would definitely ask the tour company if I could sit where I am more comfortable!!
UHG, I can imagine how uncomfortable that would be. We had our two small kids sitting with us and our knees where still cramped together. Yeah, if the weather is good, I think the open air cars are probably where it is best.
Love this video! Newer subscriber. I hope you continue to make more videos. Have watched this a couple of times because I’m planning to take the family here.
It is a great trail! There is also a paddle trail and several biking trails that all connect to it, so there is something for everyone. Just watch out for the alligators if you go on the water.
I was your bartender on the boat that day, beautiful video you took of the tour. Yes seating can be hectic at the very beginning but once we see dolphins everybody gets to move around and be more comfortable. Honestly, the majority of the boats in the Clearwater Beach Marina put on a phenomenal show and you really never know what you were going to find on every individual trip. Sincerely glad you guys had a good time
We really did have a great time. Sorry, I get unreasonably worried about seating and parking (at least that is what my wife says). Just want to thank you and the rest of the crew for showing us a great time!
I grew up and graduated in Wakulla. Made these exact trips many times. My mom used to drop me and my best friend off at Wakulla springs every single day of the summer and pick us up at close. Very good memories
Ah, the Hoppers have returned! I've driven past that cruise a few times and wondered if it was enjoyable. Did look a bit over-sold on your trip but the dolphins did make up for that. Hope you have some more fun trips coming up.🔆🐬
Thanks for watching! 😀 It was hard to capture the dolphins on camera, but great seeing them IRL. We have a few more things coming up that should be pretty fun.
Yeah, hahaha, still travelling. Got a little burnt out on the video editing side, but I think my break is over. Actually just started putting a new video together, so there will be more to come soon. Thanks for checking in and I hope you are also going well.
I have been traveling by train most of life...parents loved trains and chased every one encountered along frequent North Carolina to Georgia coastal trips along US 17, which parallels the Eastern Seaboard railroad. The engineers would toot at us as we waved from the windows...Dad would toot back ! I've met people from all over the world, diplomats' families, foreign students, famous and not, just relaxing and , for a day or two, being a community. I no longer drive cross country....who, in their right mind, would?
You got that right. I try to work in a train ride whenever I can. Unfortunately the line that passed through where I live was suspended a while back. So if we want to ditch the car, we still have to drive 150 miles to get to the nearest station 😕
Aws an American Trucker I have been over the Interstate Highway 40 many times. It was fun to see this video. I have been on 3 tourist trains but not this one. Wonderful shots of the service and vistas. Thanks
Always a great trip. if you ride in one of the Diners, they have great hot lunches like roast beef, chicken, ect. For those who don't, the Conductors Café car has a snack bar that serves burgers, hotdogs, chicken fingers, ect.
Hope y'all are having a good New Year. 🔆 (I do think the mix of lots of pedestrians and cars without headlights seems like Florida-style accident waiting to happen🙃)
Can I ask how much you paid for the bedroom option. I looked on the Amtrak website but it is quirky. It looks like it divides the trip into two segments. Just looking for an average price. This is definitely on our bucket list when we retire. Great video. We both enjoyed watching
We actually didn't have a bedroom, just regular coach class. We went from Denver to Glenwood Springs which took about 6 hours. The seats ranged about $25 - $55 per seat.
Ive been thinking about kayaking this line and I am super thankful for your video. thank you! conditions aside, with a calmer river would you recommend it? how long did it take?
Yes, I would definitely recommend it. Under calmer conditions you have several options for stopping points and it is a beautiful river. I think North of where I set in is supposed to be more difficult with several blockages and such so you might want to avoid that area.
Man... a nice beach sounds so nice right now. Looks like a great place but I have to ask... just what is the giant yellow thing in the kids area? My brain keep thinking of a kid tumbler or something they tumble around in but that sounds.... wrong and odd. 😂
