We are Roy and Charlotte, Anna and Rufus. we are a small family farm nestled in the heart of the Eden valley Cumbria, we are new entrants into dairy after farming beef and sheep. We now milk around 120 jersey cows on two Lely Astronaut A5s with a sprinkle of sheep thrown in for good measure, documenting farming life with humour and honesty through the eyes of a real cowgirl. . not an influencer more of a farmer with a social media presence!! hoping to reach out to the general none farming public and bridge that rural town divide. You will see building construction of our farm as we go, robotics, dairy , sheep, calves, family life. Not quite the trad wife more just the farmer without the wife part. Family safe with no bad language or risky content 😌

Yes, the calving was bothering me. Awful big calves for little cows. Wagyu/Jersey is questionable. The other possibility is black angus, known for small calves.
Yeah rock and hard place, if you don’t breed a decent calf you’ll find it nigh on impossible to get rid off them and if you try to breed a good calf you’ll end up with a lot less milk in the tank. Even with our much larger cows we reckon that a continental calf knocks c. 500 litres of the lactation and leaves them harder to get back in calf, in our case it might be ok since we are getting c. €300 for the calf one with another and there is a good demand for them. What was the story with the showgirls? Girls in inverted commas , seemed kinda weird for the context and very American. Keep up the good work and keep searching for options it might just be that your best option is the little gussies ( AA) and sell them weaned at 3 months but it’s a lot of extra work and expense so anything is probably better anyway, regards from Ireland
yet again Farmers are allowing government controlled supermarkets to dictate what they want grown and farmered -- Farmers need to remember its them that control what they have available to sell. (due to local farming and land needs as farmers know there land and what animals are the best for that area or what are the best crop's.) So if supermarkets dont like it tough then that means local butchers shop's will come back into being and also re entre the local villages and town centres again, plus as well the good old farm shop's will get a new lease of life.
another good video it was really good watching you learn about the wage cross jerseys I do hope you can find a way of using them thanks for another great episode take care and stay safe 👍🏻 😊
Hi Charlotte have you ever thought about crossing with Belgian blue I've reared some great blues out of jersey cows and the farmer I get them off says he doesn't have any problems calving them 😮
No not at all we have used a lot of jersey sexed semen the boys aren’t worth fattening hence putting a beef breed on such skinny little things so we only put on as much as we need for replacement girls x
Hi Charlotte interesting content (as always)thankyou. You had 2 x C130 Hercules and 2 x Ch47 Chinooks (American) they had done the Mach loop in north wales earlier in the day.👍
Hi Charlotte watching you video tonight and noticed your ridgeline coat ,I am very disappointed with mine as in heavy rain water collected in the çuffs giving me wett wrists emailed ridgeline no reply
Hope you didn't lose your tamper over the concrete shortage lol Tanker lot for another entertaining video Was on a live with Richard, happy flying farmer, we're hoping you will be able to organise a trip up in his plane, what an aviation update that would be What beautiful weather loading up the straw Geoff
Glad you enjoyed it and yes I need to get a date in with him, hope to see him at a Lely thing I’m going too. No of course I didn’t you can’t help these things x
How did you get on with setting fire to wood in the slot ,concrete and fire are not a good mix.Drill loads holes through the slot and the wood will come out
What a great idea with the compressed air. I'll definitely try that the next time I need to skin a calf. We get several twins born each year from our 350 head of Angus cows so sometimes one will get lost and then the mum won't take it. While we could hand feed it the calves do so much better if they get adopted.
Bi think you should just carry on as you are , I like the fact that every day is different and you cover quite a lot every day.....love you and what you do....respect
Farming is a mixture of all things. I have sheep, pigs, trees and tractors. But I also help others with cattle, sheep, pigs etc. A little of everything is the way to go with a few shows thrown in for good measure
For the videos, just day in the life. So what ever you get upto, your videos are fun to watch, the funny bits, the sad bits and the general arsing around. Just keep them coming. Lol.
I prefer to see whatever you do within a day, I always learn something, kinda like ollys channel whether he’s combining, fixing an old tractor, creating something mad or painting his room while drinking a coffee. I like it to seem normal and not forced. Doing things to please others is bad times. Just be you and show us that and I’m sure we’ll all watch. Prob not the best way to ‘grow a bigger audience’ rapidly but you asked and that’s my answer ☺️
