This is about a man whose alcoholism ruined his life a little Daemon whispered to him when he felt like a drink “Go on have more you can do as you please then blame alcohol” so he did and lost his self esteem it was a cruel joke the Daemon played on him he lost everything by listening to him eventually
The song has such an amazing backstory. It's such a perfect song for this Romeo and Juliet. At least Radiohead got to create the song the way the wanted.
@@asail5082 it was originally going to be part of the score for the 1996 film Romeo + Juliet. However, they band decided they wanted to keep some level of ownership over the song, so it was released on OK Computer instead. And instead of the music being used during the movie itself, it was played during the credits. Still when I hear this song now, I think about Romeo + Juliet. But i can understand them wanting to retain the rights to keep their song for their album. It's one of their best, I think.
It was Joaquin actually for Jim Carroll ....and no it would hit too close to home considering his brother River was an addict and he saw him OD....this role would have activated his PTSD
I may be super late but the Nostalgia is real lol, been hanging out in the server for years. Met so many cool people and had so many good naps there LMAO Still play to this day and join the same world!
The funny thing is that I didn't come across this song because of U2. Of course, I knew of U@ and loved many of their songs, but I stumbled across this gorgeous gem because of the background singer, Lykke Li.
