I remember going in there when I was 14 (25 years ago), and I sh*t myself (not literally). I went in at the bit that's flooded on the video. It's pitch black, and there were no torches on phones then. We got about 100 metres in a ran out, fearing being atracked by crack addicts! Feel more confident walking through there now after watching this. I bet it'd be a great site for a movie!
There used to be a tunnel under what is now The Fishergate centre which emerged on the other side where Preston Basin connected it to the northern section.
The Lancaster canal is not abandoned. The canal is navigable from Preston to Tewitfield - a distance of 41 miles. There are no locks on the main canal. The Northern Reaches from Tewitfield to Kendal was abandoned in the 1960's following the building of the M6 motorway. But that's miles away from where you indicate.
I think it was the line that ran behind 24 Grafton road at Ribbleton near Preston. I lived there until I was about 7, 1944 when I was born. We used to think it was the line that took the "loonies" to Whittingham Mental Hospital. Used to put coins on the line for the trains to flatten. No internet censorship then.
Interesting. Clean the whole place up. It could be a great historic walk between Preston and longridge and good for family walks. Needs health and safety in a big way. Architect to make roof safe. Lighting etc.
Some of the original limestone sleepers from the Preston and Longridge Railway.were re-used in the construction of the spire to St Worburg’s Church in Preston adjacent to the line. You showcthe church at the end of your video. From time to time you can climb the tower.
What a Shithole, why is it closed ? Why is it allowed to become a shithole presume someone owns it ?? If so it should be sold and redeveloped Why Just Left ?? Don't have this in London every square inch is re used.. Old garage become flats Old petrol station become flats Old Public Tiolet replaced by Apartments.. Cram them in is order of the day..

I live stone's throw from that track, near where it splits for the new branch line. My home is even visible in the birds-eye shot. Let me tell you, the dumping/fly tipping around here is atrocious, and not just in the tracks. It seems there must be a reputation that the council just don't care about the suburbs and the state of them
Well hopefully they’ll clean the tracks up. One of our watchers has taken it upon themselves to lock horns with the council over the fly tipping and lack of removal so hopefully it has/will get sorted…
Pause @12:15 and I'll quickly highlight what I see. As we exit the main tunnel we have a section that's open to the elements, sun and rain. Plant foliage is growing along what is supposedly the 'active working line' - agreed? This is in contrast to the dormant, inactive side, yet there's no undergrowth at all! This makes absolutely no sense at all. We would expect the exact opposite to be true. This could point to the so called 'missing' track actually being THE active track, if true it raises a few issues. Why would you dismantle one but not the other? Evolutionary wise perhaps the present track is the oldest track and was probably inactive whilst the more technological advanced line, possibly electrified, was carted off when they finally stopped operating? The total lack of ventilation shafts is also notable.
Honestly mate think your looking a little bit too deep into it ;P it’s not active and hasn’t been for many many years and it gets a lot of foot traffic on the non track side, also when it rains it generally pools around the tracks, they sit a little deeper for the most part than the entire other side
Just a quick note. On the video at 14.58 min at hill top quarry, can any twitcher confirm, flying in from the left of the view a common buzzard after the Jackdaws?. Steve
I liked the video, but you missed the best parts of the tram road that ran through Bamber Bridge. It crossed station road, approx 1/4 mile south from the railway station, then it went across land that is now the railway line near to the end of Edward Street and along the land in front of now the Brownedge church and across Todd Lane North, where a footpath was built on the old tramway and is still in use today, all the way to Preston.. I also have a stone sleeper that was found next to Station Road, where the tramway crossed it, when some work was being carried out. Has stated in another comment below, there is a large section of tramway in Worden Park Leyland. Many Thanks Steve
Cheers Steve. Sadly when we tried we couldn’t find all that much of obvious evidence of the tramroad there. Shame, because it would be great to have lots of reminders in Bamber Bridge.

Also to note, If you go across the M61, opposite the Walton Summit basin, you will find on the southern section's original route a raised pipe that once went over the canal and an old canal bridge.
Dear Elliot, Sue and Josh Once again you have discovered and presented an amazing building. For those who do not live near by, they would not be able to appreciate it if it was not for your work. It would be marvelous to have watched the stone masons, iron workers and carpenters at work on the memorial. If by any chance you make it down to Portsmouth you should take in the Old Dock Yards and view the HMS Warrior, HMS Victory. They to are an amazing feat of engineering. Mark Alberta, Canada

Living in Brinklow with farming ongoing all around me this is exactly what we see all be it not from a drone lol but this work that's done by farmers across our country puts food on our tables you need to support our farmers but sadly a lot of food products comes from abroad. You had a great permission to film this 👌 I bet you charged your batteries a few times to cover the footage you got of them working. Well done great message Great video. Indeed I watch farmers for the same reason I watch narrowboaters. They're each singular things unlike anything else and can only be done one way. Nice vid!
Thanks for the message! Farming isn’t something that we had really thought about too much, until the video we did on Narrow Escape where we went for a walk around East Marton. Watching the machinery there bale up the grass was fascinating so when we heard the farm machinery here fire up and trundle into the fields below the canal we couldn’t resist charging out of Nb JOSH and going for a look, and we’re so glad we did!!

Hi guys, 👋👋Kevin from Michigan here, how strange and surreal everything was,1) the fact the place is still standing 2) there is so much rubbish around 3) usually anything of value is stolen "there is a lot of worthy valuable stuff there ,hell that mirror on the wall was gorgeous and not shattered 4)you have to wonder if the people who lived there and left all that stuff, if they were "aware" of what took place there 5)imagine living/sleeping in that upstairs bedroom room were she was so brutally murdered and never knowing what took place at the foot of the bed, 6)and what caused the last dwellers to just up and leave with all their valuables laying there scattered about, and 7) you have to ask why didn't the vandals just steal and break everything insight, ???so so many questions hum😕😕 What a great opportunity for some incredibly interesting content to "go back to the house knowing what you know now ,and try to piece together the story of what and where everything took place. For instance which back window did they break into and which staircase did they used to get to her home ,and is that Singer sewing machine hers?and now that you know what took place and how the killers escaped you could paint a real fascinating picture for us , "believe me if I could do it I would ,I love the mystery of it all , except for the poor lady being bludgeon to death ,all for nothing. Hell I am still fascinated by Jack the Ripper and was it really the Polish meat packer John Kosminski or the crazy old American Doctor who collected women's uteruses and fled back to the states or the woman hating British doctor who loved to hack up dead bodies for parts, all just fascinating questions... sorry I went on a mystery tangent there 😁😁😁 anyway another awesome video guys , besides now that I think of it I bet Sue would never return to that house again, knowing what she knows, 😂😂😂 any ways love both your channels and as I always say "keep pushing on"💪

Perhaps something we can do in more depth once we have a lull in filming and editing new stuff because it would be fascinating to piece it all together. Hello Elliott and Sue.... Looks like the fire place surround has been removed along with copper piping. Great 2nd part to the story I presume you must have got the correct room where the murder taken place as you visited them all 😅... So not spooky but eerie I dare you to stay the night in the house. ❤ You'd love it 😀 The house looks like the damage could be reversed to end up a lovely property 😀 new rendering outside. On the market is it lol I know you guys check these small details... I guess the place has been turned over maybe looking for that hidden treasure still eh... Nice little video. I have done a few urbex videos in the past, they always gave me a strange feeling inside, and you rarely see an intact toilet! I'm quite surprised at how good a condition the first building was in, the second part is the more common scene, so I wonder if there's a story in which property was abandoned first?
There was definitely an eerie feeling in the first one, especially given we knew nothing of the murder then. Less of a feeling (practically none) in the second one. Wonder if any of that has to do with the fact there was natural daylight in the second? We might see if we can find out more about which was abandoned first and what the score was with the begun refurb of building 2. Hhhhhmmmmmmm.
