Hi frieder I just wanted to write a small thanks. I’ve had t for about 3-4 months now and through that time I’ve watched and listened to a lot of your content. Last night I went to my first concert ever and it was amazing I had my ear protection and had a blast. 3 months ago I was telling myself I’d never be able to do anything loud again. Your videos made that entirely possible. Mindset is everything you are a legend and deserve a ton of credit for what you do. Thank you sir 🙌👍

I just listened to your interview with Malcolm where you were able to calm his fears by helping him to believe that building it up as a danger just makes it worse. As soon as the video was finished I stood quietly and thought about what you said all the masking ,the music ,the fear makes it the elephant in the room so how could we ignore it butt if you can convince yourself that it's not a danger it's a noise just like any other the refrigerator whatever. This really hit home and I can feel my tinnitus calming down with these new thoughts. I'm going for a walk now in nature and really give this some serious serious thought and I know that from here forward I will make some Headway no fear no danger just part of life like any other setback we have to deal with, many thaks

@Hew.Jarsol 21 день назад
Thanks. Yes your right, it feeds off your fear. Your emotional reaction to it. Your beliefs > Avoidance behaviours > Constant checking and measuring of it will come down when your fear/emotional reaction to it lessens? It seems Tinnitus is quite common? Hope you get well soon.

Honestly, I haven't gotten used to it for a year and a half. If it were stable tinnitus I would agree, but what about non-stable tinnitus, mine is like a high frequency laser sound that changes every second, that's just one of them. How to get used to it.

Oh I know how you feel the tinnitus I have had since 1998 did habituate after a good few years but then on came a new sound in 2014. I had a lot of grief losing my.mum, sun and brother in a space of three years I was grief struck and cried so much a new noise came on and for 10 years it has gradually worsened. I have vibrations in my body which aggravates the tinnitus somehow I can hear the rumblings in my body. It is worse on movement. I do sympathise with you. I have a lot of nerve pain in my neck too. I have hearing loss to and all I hear is the tinnitus. So distressing. I try to be calm with it and ignore it. I find it I am engrossed in conversation with a friend on social media it disappears . I know I focus too much on it. Oh Lord please find us a cure. 🙏
@macstreamer8943
@macstreamer8943 22 дня назад
@@wilmaduncan7070 Yes, I have about 4 tinnitus, this laser and another morse code are not stable. My life changed everything, I gave up having children because of this, my career came to a standstill, I can't think about anything else for 80% of the day. And the worst part is that science knows very little, my cause is a mystery. My hearing is "normal". Severe sinusitis was the trigger, we don't have tests to actually see the structures inside the ear, MRI helps very little. I'm going to make a TENS device to try to improve. In cases of hearing loss, unfortunately, little can be done yet, in other cases I believe something can be done, waiting for Susan Shore's device may help.

I have had very minor tinnitus for the for 15 years. I have some high frequency hearing loss and possibly some hyperacusis. It never bothered me. Could barely notice it. Never affected my sleep. About 5 months ago, I went to the barber and felt some irritation and pain in my ears from the electric trimmers. They were near my ears for only 1 minute. A few days later my tinnitus went from a 1 to and spiked to an 8 and has been like this for months. Audiologist and ENT said that the trimmers could not have caused this as they volume is too low and the duration of exposure was very minimal. I believe it was the trimmers. My question is do you know of any cases of trimmers causing hearing damage or spikes in tinnitus.

I totally agree with this video, I was thinking the same thing. In the same way that you shouldn't aLwaYs run to medicine every time you catch a cold, in order to let your body build immunity, sometimes you want to let your ears and brain "build immunity" to T by not always going for masking. What if the power grid goes out, what if you leave your phone/masking machine somewhere and you're without it, etc.? You have to learn to let your own body build a natural defence to it.
@Hew.Jarsol
@Hew.Jarsol 26 дней назад
Makes sense. Hearing is normal up to 8000hz. Quiet rooms are the worst. Ringing static noise. Plus Hyperacusis.

I have Tinnitus for 1y and 8m in one ear, caused primarily by a sudden slight hearing loss above 6.5KHz, what is not perceived at all in my daily life, but this resulting high pitch tinnitus alone is not my biggest issue. The biggest issue is as you say how I reacted (and react) to it and in what it resulted. It resulted in a Monster Tinnitus all over my Brain with consequent Panics crisis, anxiety, depression and fear/doubt. Panic is over, anxiety is there in a different form, depression is over, fear/doubt appears and disappears still. This keeps the Tinnitus Teufelkreis (you know what I mean 😅) still present in my life, although less bothersome in comparison to the beginning (not because the tinnitus diminished but because I am getting more used to it). My doubt is if you recommend me wearing a Hearing Aid for such high frequency in my right ear (where my original tinnitus come from), knowing that I don’t need the hearing aid to improve my perception of sounds (as I explained it will improve it in the high frequency but with no subjective impact in my daily life in terms of auditory improvement). Any tip will be welcome 🙏 thanks for all content in the channel. Greetings from Munich 😊

Thank you for your video. I have never seen your videos before this was the first. I was habituated until last night in the middle of the night started shrieking for some unknown reason. Your video helped me to calm down and realize my emotional reaction to this was very important . I will look at your other videos and see if anybody has any ideas about humongous spikes haha. Thanks again I really appreciate your help you're so kind and gentle..

Thank you Frieder. One thing you taught me that I want to remind every one of is that habituation does not mean you never hear the ringing. It means you can hear it and it does not induce an emotion or reaction. That is something that I struggled with understanding at first.

I relate alot to this story. I really spirraled down when I got on tinnitus forums and message boards. I now learned it only fuels my anxiety and keeps me in flight or fight. I am now enrolled in a tinnitus course and making progress. Never underestimate the power of your brain to change the perception of the tinnitus noise.
