By far one of the best catfishing videos!! Very professional, good fish care and most of all a lot of laughs💯 well done lads and congratulations Duncan🙌🏻🎣
Massive thanks mate, that means a lot. There were certainly plenty of laughs had. I didn't realise quite how many there were until I watched all of the footage back and they were just the ones that were caught on film 😅
Excellent catches, high quality photography ,loved it. I'm in agreement Helga deserves some peace and quiet also she came from a lake were she was the only one....
She does seem to enjoy a trip or two to the bank at the moment but hopefully as time goes on she'll adjust fully to her new environment and the captures will start thinning out a bit. It's possible that coming from being the only cat in her old lake to then having to compete amongst others for food that she's just trying to eat anything and everything she comes accross to try and assert as much dominance as possible over the smaller cats. It's difficult to say really but she's still fighting fit and looking well other than the marks around her mouth and she's also holding weight ok now that she's settled from the initial lake move as that's usually the first thing to drop away from a big fish should it start going downhill health wise. I'm sure if anything needs to be done further down the line then Tony will do whatever is needed but hopefully she'll just find her own balance with it all in time

Great stuff. I dreamed of doing similar - diving in fishing lakes. Im now disabled and not sure if ill ever be able to dive. But im glad i have somewhere to watch the idea played out. Subbed
It is a real eye opener sering beneath the surface. If you're interested then give @BeneathBritishWaters a follow as well. Mark is a top guy and did all of the sub surface filming
Many tha is Steve and I'm really glad you enjoyed watching. There should be at least two more cat videos on the way later this year, all being well. One from Houchins and one from Woods Lake in France so hopefully you'll enjoy those too once they've been filmed and edited
Many thanks and unfortunately not. Myself and a handful of others moved away from it all about 18 months ago for various reasons and I believe the company ceased trading a few months later.
@@SpecialistAnglingMedia ooooh, if folks moved away from it, that's not good, or a good advert. There's not a lot of choice for us over here, even though catfishing is getting a lot more popular. Really appreciate the reply, and I've enjoyed your films. I like the dark editing on them. Looking forward to future films. 💪🏻🎣🔥💥💥
@kennypartridge1853 keep your eyes peeled over the coming months for a handful of upcoming cat trips that'll be getting filmed and you may see a few new things of interest that are being worked on for this time next year 😉
Wow, absolutely amazing. So cool how they're just chilling. You guys have a set of brass I'll give you that. Thanks for posting this vid, I live in Florida and the catfish here are guppies compared to those monsters.
Glad you enjoyed it mate. It was the swim on the corner in front of the lodge which was most productive when we were there but the best spot they were fishing was over towards Farmers. None of us tend to fish in Farmers itself when we go as it cuts off a lot of water for everyone else at either end then. If you've got the pick of the lake then that's probably the best swim though
@@lloydwatson7221 I'd probably try and get two people up the top end where I was, one in each of the swims in front of the lodge and then one round in the bay to the left of the lodge
Many thanks, really glad you enjoyed the video. The livebaits were very hard to come by in all honesty and we were pretty much fishing all day, every day to try and get something decent to put on each night. There were plenty of rudd around but the best baits by far were the small carp if you could get them. I was mainly fishing pieces of chopped worm over the top of some groundbait and keeping my fingers firmly crossed!
going back in september for my 2nd time there in the swin to the left of you, with a friend in your spot.. im the only carper out the bunch but had some great fights with cats too.. our biggest went to 130 i think.. hoping for bigger in a few weeks!! great vid!
There's definitely plenty of cats in there and yes, it's never much of a struggle to catch, but I take different venues for what they are and Churchwood is a lovely place to fish with great scenery and facilities and the lake is also exclusive to you so there is no hassle or noise from other anglers around you like there can be on other open access waters. My sessions there are always about enjoyment with friends and family and it certainly never lets us down on that front so our yearly trip is always very much looked forward to.
@Marcus Bentley One large swim at the near end where you bivvy up and then there's a little small swim up the other end where you can go and fish during the day. Great fun over there drifting a float around on the flow from the aerator with some lobs on the hook
@Marcus Bentley it does get booked up extremely quickly each year yes, I don't think there are any dates left until November time for this year now. The lake is down near Brentwood in Essex
I know I’m watching this video late but I’m from the united states and have been thinking about traveling to catch wells catfish you’re the second channel I’ve watched that’s fished this lake! Very cool and tempting to fly over!!
It's a great venue and Steve the owner is a top guy. It does get booked up very quickly each year for the warmer months but if you do ever decide to head over then let me know and I can put you onto some good venues whether it's numbers you're after or size
Very nice video hope there will be more :) I would also like to shoot some underwater videos but I don't have the right equipment for that yet. By any chance, does anyone know of a camera with that is suitable for online viewing of underwater footage at a distance of at least 100 meters from the camera location? I'm imagining placing the camera and being able to connect wirelessly to the camera using a smartphone for example.
I have an underwater one up of Wels Catfish which is well worth a watch. I'm sure it is possible having the setup you mentioned above but you'd need some sort of direct cable between the camera and dry land as you won't get any kind of WiFi or Bluetooth signal to travel through water
Hi Trev, Yes, Withy is a reasonably new brand to the market. Over last winter, both myself and three other very well respected and knowledgeable cat anglers started helping get the initial range ready for launch this year and there's plenty more to follow in the pipeline. The products are available from a few different retailers either in store or online or you can go direct to the Withy website at www.withyfishing.com We are also on Facebook and Instagram under "Withy" or "Withy Fishing" if you want to keep up to date with everything that's going on that way. Many Thanks, Ryan
@@trevcornwall8160 many thanks Trev and if you do decide to try out any of the gear then be sure to send us any feedback you may have or some pictures if you manage to bag a few on it
Hey Ryan, was this Cambs lake that is 'Lake One' with the two Islands? If so I used to fish this back in the early 00's for around 10yrs. Havnt fished it for probaly 10yrs but thinking about getting myself some gear again and going back to this lake. Is it day ticket on the water still when the farmers/owners wife comes round?
There aren't any islands in this particular lake so it must be a different one to wherever you used to fish. Getting yourself some gear and getting back out on the bank somewhere definitely sounds like a good idea to me though!
@@SpecialistAnglingMedia thank you for the reply…………. It looked very much like Lentons (Brampton) to me and I thought the over hanging willow to the left was on the island in Lentons Lake I’m on it already, be back on the bank in 2 weeks. Have you fished Barnwell at all? It’s 2 mins from my door :) Tight lines
hi mate great videos, any chance you could tell me the name of the day ticket lake featured in this and your first video as ive recently moved into the cambridge area and need some new lakes to fish!
Hi Sam, I'm glad you enjoyed the videos. I don't like naming the venues I fish online I'm afraid but there are plenty of great waters around the Cambridgeshire area so I'm sure you'll find a few nice ones to fish
Hi Elliott, We were all using both the TTD Advanced Polyball Rig and the RNR Dumbells with livebaits fished on both. If you search for "Withy Fishing" you'll be able to see and purchase the rigs if you wish to. Many Thanks, Ryan
@@SpecialistAnglingMedia thanks for the reply Ryan, I will have a look 👍 I'm fishing next week at Albans hopefully on the farm and would love to catch a decent cat 👌🎣 Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it mate. Yes, I was lucky enough to have a couple of nice little lakes to head to last year. Hoping for more of the same again this year 🤞
Hi Brian, it's strictly invite only at this present time I'm afraid but there are a handful of competitions which are run each year for the chance to fish there. If you keep an eye on the Withy Facebook pages, they'll keep you informed as and when things are happening. facebook.com/Withy-Fishing-101910068966378/ facebook.com/groups/491910752081119/?ref=share
Yes, the perch seem to be thriving in there. I always see a few around the edges chasing after the small fry. It's a nice place to go for a few runs and a but of fun that is for sure
I'm new to cat angling, do you lip hook the live baits? What sort of size liveys do you use, water I'm looking to fish has mainly small cats up to high 30s
I much prefer lip hooking lives if I can as they tend to last a lot better and if they don't get taken, they will quite often go back alive and well at the end of the session. For cats of that size I'd say fish of around 6-8 inches would be best. Roach and perch are by far the best baits as they both work well and last well. Skimmers and rudd are OK if you can't get anything else but they don't tend to be the best.
