Redmire is somewhere I never thought I'd be able to wet a line but the last 5 days and nights were spent in the very best of company whilst treading its hallowed banks and taking in the magic of not only the pool and its history but the unspoilt nature surrounding it.
Unfortunately neither Simon or myself managed to land a Redmire carp of our own but we were lucky enough to see one of its inhabitants on the bank when Jamie landed a pristine little common.
We did however see them basking around between weed beds up in the shallows when the sun was at its peak, before they disappeared into the shadows as the temperatures plummeted and the sun began to set.
In all honesty, the fishing was very much secondary and in a strange kind of way, the magic and mystery of the pool has only been heightened further by the lack of action we had on the rods.
Hopefully one day we'll be lucky enough to return, but until then, we'll have memories to cherish for a lifetime from the little pool of dreams...
