In NJ the cake was called Washington Squares sold in a two by three metal sheet tray. Had a blonde color like ginger bread with chocolate icing on top. I believe it was from early German immigtants but has been lost to time.
So for anybody having trouble all you got to do is just lift it there is no handle you just have to pull hard and if it's an older truck you may have to pull really really hard! I don't know why this person didn't just say that

Neesh pronunciation is primarily British. Well being British I should know. However a lot of our words are French born due to 1066. Clearly it changed after 1492 😂
Google seems to have taken a side in this because when you ask it for the pronunciation the audio pronounces it neesh. For me it doesn't even give a pronunciation an audio option for the Nitch pronunciation, although maybe that's because I'm from the UK where neesh is the most common way? Although even when I go to the American pronunciation option it still gives me neesh.
I didn't feel like making a chunky chicken salad, so I did a search for it made with a food processor, and yours was the first to come up, and that's just what I wanted! So, thanks, this is a great video.
1:35 in french it's not nee-shay it's just neesh the correct word, and that dictionary is old but its not that old (1944) i'd like to see a source from at least the 1800s
i prefer nitch because that's the way i pronounced it for the past 40 or so years. on the other hand i would like to see a video on the word aluminium because my pronunciation of this word has definitely changed over the years if it already hasn't been done which it probably has

I actually licked my lips at the end. I have searched for years for this. In Port Richmond we called it Gee Washington cake and it was always on the list when we went to the bakery. When the cold hits, I will be making this for sure. Thanks so much.
I've been looking for this cake recipe. I'm from NJ and it was in every bakery back in the 60's, 70's. You can't find it now. The last time I saw it was in 2014 or 15 in Philly while out with my friend. We stopped at an old bakery and there it was, in all it's glory. I got a nice size piece and didn't want to share. Haven't seen it since. I'm so thrilled to find this recipie.
