My favorite sports movie to this day… I grew up in the urban atmosphere of Washington, DC … My sister lived in Pittsburgh at the time this movie came out. I went to the University of Pittsburgh in 85’ and seriously thought some of the movie was shot in Ambridge, Pa… The Ampipe reference, I guess….Had some friends at Pitt ~ Johnstown and when we’d visit, I’d always try to eye some filming locations. This would have been amazing to have. Love that movie to this day. Definitely in my top 10 all time favorites … #1 sports though. Playing high school football and being familiar with the area (western Pa) it really captures a lot for me
This movie is awesome. I have watched it a 1000 times since it came out. Western Pa., football, Steelers references, black and gold uniforms, and it's from the 1980's. I live in a small town in Indiana and have family in western Pa. I'm 54 years old and every summer would visit my cousins in Gastown, Indiana, Pa., Rural Valley, and Kettanning. I'm going to go out and buy myself an Ampipe letterman's jacket. 6-2 STACK MONSTER!!!!!!!
Hello, question about the location of New York scenes. Do you know where on Fulton Street the apartment was? The fact the skeleton is still in the bar is really cool.
Thanks for posting this! Very enjoyable to watch. They must've felt very strongly that the movie was going to do very well at the box office to build a huge home like that just to tear it down at the end of filming. Definitely a lot of money at risk. It's not hard to see why the movie was so successful. It's filmed nicely in beautiful locations and is incredibly funny. The casting of Andrew McCarthy with Jonathan Silverman was spot on. Also, I can't imagine any other actor playing Bernie other than Terry Kiser. He OWNED the role.
You're right. At least the house is preserved forever in the film! Speaking of preservation, the film should be getting a 4K transfer ASAP. You may find this hard to believe, but I found Bernie's fancy AT&T phone on Ebay. It's the same model as the one in Bernie's home office, with the flat receiver. The phone was used in a couple of scenes with Larry and Richard and Bernie himself, so I thought it would be cool to own a piece of Bernie's "house."
Convenient! I was just wondering where Ebenezer Zane was buried. My 4 x great aunt Elizabeth McColloch Zane was his wife. She is sometimes mixed up with Betty but was older and known as a great healer in the region.
My grandma was best friends with the couple that owned RJTs they were very sweet and when I was little we would always stop there on the way home from school.
In 2008 Wisconsin played Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Before the game a guy was asking Wisconsin fans what they knew about Cal Poly. They were all saying that's where Stefan Djorjivick played.
The Bridge Tom Cruise is crossing isn’t the Minersville Bridge. It’s the old Michael Strank bridge between Conemaugh and Franklin. That Bridge was not there in 2021 when they filmed this video. It was replaced.
Nice video this film is all you can see of the old school and the mill the only one you got wrong is he does not cross the Minersville Bridge he crosses the old bridge in Conemaugh which got torn down and remade about 8 years ago another landmark only the film has.
Love this film, one of two fillms that always bring tears to my eyes. ! Great locations video. I always wondered where mrs Santinis house is ? the one up on the hillside he brings her groceries and she drives him back to town. Don;t think anyone has ever found that. best wishes.
I have a water color painting of the houseboat scene with woman and men painted and signed Colunbia pictures 1970 that Jimmy Stewart gave my great Aunt When he stayed at a hotel in Wheeling Wva. I was born and raised in Moundsville and I remember them filing this.
👍💕🤸 still love this movie. Was just talking to my baby sis yd about Maxium overdrive. That line Curtis are you dead.😂 Still cracks me up. SK was on to something and didn't know that one day vehicles would be driving themselves 😮. Huge SK fanatic. Still think SK is not from this planet. He's a Alien from outer space, but then I'm not from this planet either, you humans crack me up If you but knew what was beyond the sky 🌌 you would lose your mind.🤯😉😵💫👽👾. Soon all will be revealed. Can uhandle it 🤨🫣😱😬.✌️🖖👾👋👣. Vee.
Wasn't there when the movie was filmed. I am from Eastern PA. I go out to Thunder In The Valley every year, only missed (3) years since it started. Unfortunately no more Thunder In The Valley. We stayed at the Comfort Inn on Theater Drive many times. I knew this movie was fimed in the Johnstown area. We got a copy of the movie from the JA library and showed it in the lobby of the hotel one rainy rally night. The lobby was packed. I laid out a bunch of waypoints for different locations from the movie and did a tour of them. Johnstown and the people are fantastic. Never felt more welcome then at this rally.
I live in Wilmington and people here still talk about this movie, it may have flopped at the movies but it's still sort of a big deal here. I even seen the semi with the goblin head once.
Interesting that the obelisk tombstone is missing in the picture showing the lake in the background. Did you happen to notice that and see if they moved it to another part of the cemetery?
