Yes the exteriors were the same place as interiors. U can see the coastline when they're by the pool in front. I think its funny after he's blinded by the Lighthouse that they walk back to Bernies. They're 13 miles apart lol
Looks like a cool beach town. I saw this movie while i was home on leave from the Navy at my hometown movie theater with a date back in August 1989. We loved the movie. Classic 80's.
Thanks for posting this! Very enjoyable to watch. They must've felt very strongly that the movie was going to do very well at the box office to build a huge home like that just to tear it down at the end of filming. Definitely a lot of money at risk. It's not hard to see why the movie was so successful. It's filmed nicely in beautiful locations and is incredibly funny. The casting of Andrew McCarthy with Jonathan Silverman was spot on. Also, I can't imagine any other actor playing Bernie other than Terry Kiser. He OWNED the role.
When i was flying helicopter tours in Traverse city, there wasa a beachfront house i always called "The weekend at Bernie's house" Later i found out it was actually Craig Tester's house (from the Curse of oak island)
You're right. At least the house is preserved forever in the film! Speaking of preservation, the film should be getting a 4K transfer ASAP. You may find this hard to believe, but I found Bernie's fancy AT&T phone on Ebay. It's the same model as the one in Bernie's home office, with the flat receiver. The phone was used in a couple of scenes with Larry and Richard and Bernie himself, so I thought it would be cool to own a piece of Bernie's "house."
Siempre me preguntaba cómo se verían en la actualidad los edificios y lugares de filmación de una de mis películas favoritas. Es un video sensacional. Muchas gracias.
I just saw this movie again for the thousandth time, a second ago, I laughed at the scenes with Dead Bernie, but I got a bigger kick when my little five year old nephew walked into my room, scene the guy on TV and told me "He's dead" my little nephew knew that but the people in the movie didn't 😆
