We explore the visual side of food. As a pro food photographer for over a decade, I've literally photographed 1000's of plates of food so I know what look beautiful. Thanks very much.....I'll be working on similar video for 2025 so will try an add more examples then. Let me know if you have any trends that might be worth including! 🙌
@@diningfables I’m in a fun but weird career plot twist which has me moving from behind a bar to in a kitchen on a catamaran. And have been on the prowl for exactly this kind of content. And it’s shockingly hard to find. I really appreciate your channel and have been working my way through all your videos
ha ha, a weird career change is what started me down this road, so fingers crossed it works out well for you too. I've been looking for this style of content too but can't find anything similar (e.g. lots of video on how to make a sauce but nothing on why or where it should go) so I'm really pleased you found the channel. All the best 🙌
Couldn’t agree more, he is really talented! If you’ve not seen, I’ve got a plating demo playlist with loads of other amazing chefs. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. 🙌
Really appreciate that, as I’d not seen any similar content on the visual side of food either! So pleased to hear it’s interesting. Thanks for subscribing too 🙌
Thank you. I think for someone of my level (and perhaps this is similar to others in your audience), it would be nice to see not just components of plating, but how one does it for a dinner party in a normal kitchen. One of the biggest problem areas is keeping things at the right temperature while building a plate, and then serving it. Also, the timing. If I'm doing three courses, how do I bring it all together, including the plating. Sure, one can show how to cook, like many channels, but the reality of putting it altogether is often missing. Including, best approach to clearing, cleaning between courses. I know confidence in the recipes, and practice plays a role. I also know in many cases to not overload a plate. But...but there are times when you want to do something nice, but ensure your guest/s are also well fed.
That’s actually a really good idea I’d not thought of before….to tailor plating design and presentation for home cooks / dinner parties. I’ll be putting my thinking cap on for this. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Always great to get suggestions, it’s super helpful 🙌
@@diningfables To my knowledge, nobody does that. I'm not slating any chefs, or cooks. I love many of the videos very talented people put up. But bringing it all together in a real setting is challenging. I made a dinner tonight - it looks very pretty in the pics I took...But...but...I know the sauce was not great. The glazed shallots, put in the oven at a guess for the roast potatoes, and carrots/plus parsnips (all at differnt entry points) were okayish, but not great. For those of us who have never worked in a kitchen, and don't have heat lamps, or speed of delivery, some pointers in building, and presenting (while keeping guests happy - and not thining 'this could be warmer' etc) would be ace. Thank you for answering.
I really enjoyed this video! My request would be that in the next one you include more examples of each techinique and let us see them for a little bit longer. I am someone who learns visually, which is probably why I like food presentation in the first place, so I would like to see more beautiful, interesting plates. Thank you!
Thank you so much, its always great to hear that my videos have been useful and enjoyed. Makes it all worthwhile and I'll certainly keep your feedback in mind. If plating demonstrations would help then I have a whole playlist from pro chefs on the channel that might be helpful along with my podcast: ru-vid.com/group/PLND2UEcwupKy67QZeGhdIgARoF7RQVLvW&si=dxNzzXX4qJzHv6O8 or www.youtube.com/@diningfables/podcasts. Thanks again! 🙌
Hi DF , I just found your channel , and I thinks its great! Im a professional cook and love admiring food photography. for the art of it, and inspiration. Your tips and insight are really top notch. thanks again for sharing your knowledge and posting this amazing content. Saludos!
It’s such a treat when Pro’s reach out to tell me the content has been useful, lets me know I’m on the right track. I’ll have a new critique video like this one (it’s a new style of content for the channel) coming out tomorrow so I’d love to know what you think and if it’s helpful to professionals. Thanks again! DF
That's great to know as its the first video of this style that I've tried! Your feedback is really appreciated as I want to do more of them. Thanks again DF 🙌
Thanks so much for watching and your comment. This is a great idea, I’d put together an outline for a video like this a while ago but never got around to it. I’ll try and dust it off and see what I can do. Cheers 🙌
such an interesting topic and quite a good technique. though i watched the video wondering when we are going to analyze the first plates but it never came to that.
Thanks for watching the video and taking the time to comment. I’m pleased you thought the concept was interesting, personally I liked the design spirit framework from my previous video a bit more: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BH3nkND9Kzk.htmlsi=K1rNJovcK4p0kGMs Regarding your point about analysis of the dish and I’ll take this on board for subsequent video (feedback is always appreciated). However if you are interested in analysis/ demos from pro chefs, check out my playlist, as it might be interesting for you: ru-vid.com/group/PLND2UEcwupKy67QZeGhdIgARoF7RQVLvW&si=EMqk0SXfYdGzqyWr Thanks again 👍
The quality in which you provide us the information is just stunning. I checked out your channel and I thought you would have hundreds thousands subscribers but you being such a small YT-Channel and providing such a good well thought content is just awesome, thank you.
Its comments like this, that make it all worth while, so thanks for taking the time to comment. It really is appreciated. Growth on RU-vid is a slow burn but hoping things will speed up eventually 🤣
Ha ha, so pleased you like it! Really helps to hear from viewers who are getting something out of the content. Always on the look out for content ideas so let me know if there is anything you’d like to see a video on. 🙌
