Mike, I use your 'big boy' products on a variety of tasks and recommend them to family and friends. This led me to your video on here somehow. It was was absolute pleasure to watch your video archive of David Leonard Iszatt's life. I assume he was your father? An absolute joy to watch and such precious treasure memories.
Masts need protection from UV, I suppose a white gloss finish would offer the best protection (all light reflected) but I'm sure light yellow also does an excellent job and looks better!
To Peter Michael and John, I was saddened to learn of your Fathers passing, He was always welcoming to me when i visited Silver Hook and always tucked into the Donuts that i would bring in for our cuppa , Sadly missed , Steve Leys (ex Wynns)
Nice boat and sailing, good conditions too! Please can you tell me what kind of mast is that? Is it regular RS 600 carbon mast painted in yellow or something custom? Also what are those stickers that you have on deck, port and starboard? Thanks!
Just one question if you may answer. Am I allowed to park in CPZ outside the hours specified? Because clearly english internet doesn't even bother to explain how CPZ works, been on the internet for an hour an still got no answer to that.
Yes you can. One of the problems I have with a CPZ is the loss of freedom they cause. There are some very beautiful area's of Greater London that cannot be reached by train but because of CPZ's they are impossible to visit by car due to the restrictions . You tend to find that the car parks in these areas are either inadequate or full.Visiting friends who live in the outer parts of London is now very difficult (Enfield etc) .
That's some seriously brave sailing Michael - definitely something to aim for! You've a very different technique for reaching than I do. I tend to wire as high as I can and trapeze off the gunnel. Your method seems way more stable though - will give it a shot when I get the boat out in more breeze.
Will show you some gybing techniques next, two styles which are pretty unique, had to send the cam off for repairs did not like all the water splashing around............... waterproof to 10m is a lie !! Bit of a shame cos the forecast for the bloody Mary on saturday is force 5 gusting force 9 and I would like to record that race.
Hi Peter, I think it is 6 years now. Try everything with your boat, you have cracked it when you start to realise why something has gone wrong and how far you can push your boat. You can then prevent the errors happening again. Good luck with your sailing.
Thanks for that Michael. Could I ask you two quick questions? Do you dump any main before you stand up off the wire? What' would you reckon is the strongest 'sailable' wind for the 600? I've yet to take her out in more than 20 knots...
Handicap pursuit race tomorrow, wind forecast gusting 37 knots, so that is force 8, will let you know how I do, will probably attach the web cam. No slack in mainsail prior to tack, but sometimes you must after, the most important factor is to approach the tack going fast and getting the boat turned through the eye of the wind.
Michael Iszatt Thanks that helps a lot. No other 600s in the country and hard to learn to sail the thing myself! More vids would be great. Have a good sail!
Peter Doherty Hi Pete well got round today with no capsizes. Gusting 36 Knots. Posted a small extract of race. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wNHsXjBlmAo.html
