@@D.ThirumalaikumarKumar None of those countries have even made it to a World Cup semi final yet relax. I like Afghanistan though they remind most of early 90s SL team.
Some newspapers had described this as " the battle of David and Goliath " in those times ! The situation , now in 2023, is quite the reverse. West Indies are not even a part of the ODI world cup , and Sri Lanka are being considered by some as possible semi finalists.
All these great players from that era and weird to think 18 years later Aravinda De Silva would be hitting Brett Lee 100mph rockets out the ground in the 2003 World Cup
I recollect memories of having watched this match live during 1985. It was exciting. Two catches by Binny were stunning. First a caught n bowled, next was boundary line catch. 👍
Thanks a lot for uploading these videos, very important memories. Btw,do you have any footage of your legendary ex captain Brian Davison batting? Hugely entertaining player, top character but virtually nothing of him online batting unfortunately...
The Benson and Hedges World Series Cup .. always such a treat of watch .. especially on Television.. Coloured Clothing .. whiteBall.. Floodlights .. Still remember watching this particular match on Doordarshan which India won against Newzealand .. was a sort of knockout match in the round robin format .. India entered the WSC Finals .. 👍👍👍
TCA Ground, Hobart. It was the main headquarters for cricket in Hobart from around 1882 until 1987 and main headquarters for greyhound racing in the city from 1935-1980. Bellerive Oval (now Blundstone Arena) was a suburban Australian Football ground until it was renovated after the 1985 football season was completed to become the home HQ for cricket, eventually hosting its first Test in 1989 👍
Nostalgia is hell of a drug- ODIs those days were just limited overs test matches with very little innovation shown by openers except select few like Srikkanth
@@vickyvirk4424and then Mark Greatbatch with his pinch hitting at the top of the order! Innovators in their day but most importantly both had the ability to do what they did.
